I, too, have been bombarded with calls from CRS.  I asked the woman who called me today where she was calling from, and she replied "Mississauga".  She thought it strange that my display showed the Nova Scotia area code.  But after reading other comments, I'm now no longer surprised.
Billy Joe states that he works for CRS and it's a mailing company.  Then why aren't we getting letters from them instead of phone calls?!?

I received a call from this number. Person said her name was Ellen and she was calling from the office of Cearis or something along those lines. Couldn't really make out the name of the company. She said it was a about an important financial matter. For one thing my phone number is under my huband's name and second she used my maiden name, which I haven't used in 14 years. Think I'm calling back? Not likely. They can go to HELL!

I dont owe any money to anyone and they keep calling me they have my name from somewhere... if they have my name and phone number they have my address!!! I wont return their call

I received a call from 1-902-442-6643 however I did not answer and they did not leave a voice message. I just ignore calls like this unless they keep calling and then I tell them that the Feds know its a scam and they are screening my calls and that they will catch them and then they just stop calling.

Oh yeah! Well, let me tell you something, I don't have a debt to be collected. So much for your ignorant advice.

902-442-8588 keeps calling, doesn't leave a message, i tried calling that 877-881-8088 number i read in another post, and i get a recording saying it's a message centre and to have my tracking number ready. What tracking number? they never leave a message.  From what I gather from reading these forums, they are a credit collection agency based in Missisauga, Ont, but on the caller ID, they show up as a Nova Scotia number, how is that even possible?  I have good credit sinceI haven't carried a balance on my credit cards for years now.  Should I be worried someone has stolen my identity?

I received a call this morning for a Teresa, I told them they had the wrong number, she told me she just talked to Teresa at this number, I told her that is impossible because I have has this number for over 10 years.  She tried to get me to give her some personal info - I told her no and to not call back.

Just got a call from this number 1.902.442.8588. Did not answer. For some unknown reason they have my cell tagged to someone else. Told them to take a hike. Piece of advice - if the number showing up on your display is long distance, don't answer it.

I have been getting numerous calls from this number asking for my dad, who does not live her nor has he ever resided here. I have told them that I will try to give my dad the message, but its not my problem if he fails to call them back and have asked them to take my number off their list. They told me that the computer will not allow them to take the number off unless I give them a number to find him.

K this number (902-442-8588) calls, I don't answer it, someone else does because they are always looking for me, I've talked to them before, it's a collection agencie and I refuse to deal with them anymore because they threatened me and I KNOW that's not allowed, she got into my personal business and everything, telling me to go out and get a job when I told her I can't because I'm injured at the moment and now everytime they call,someone else answers and when they say i'm not home, they hang up before my family even gets a chance to ask who it is.... these people are SO RUDE!

Just got a call from this number asking for Paul Onson....then they just hung up on me...very rude!  Tried calling back and got a mailbox is full message.

I have recvd several msgs from this woman for someone who doesn't even live at my number.  Her messages are loud and offensive and she doesn't even leave her name or the name of the company she is calling from.  I called the number back several times and it says the voicemail is full.  I then called the 800 # she left and when the person finally answered it was 'her'.  I explained that she has been leaving msgs for someone who doesn't live here and she had the audacity to suggest that it was my 'son' she was leaving the msg for - I have no children and my husband just passed away recently.  She did not allow me the opportunity to explain that the person she was calling didn't live at my number - instead she was on the offensive and insinuated that I was lying.  I advised her if she did not stop calling I would call the police to investigate. She kept yelling at me and I hung up.

These guys are a scam company. They buy mailing lists and use them to try and scam people out of their cash in a number of ways. They are not legit.
Report them to the company they claim to represent and to the RCMP.

They have called my parents number since May/10, once every month, asking for someone with one name the same as my fathers name (ie: if my fathers name would be:  John Edward Doe, they would be asking for Peter Doe, another time Jack Doe, Eddie Doe, etc, etc..  My parents are in their high 80's; this type of call upsets them.  It is very unfair and illegal to be harassing the senior citizens of our country. It can also be called abuse.  Is there someone that can give me infomation as to where this call can be reported.

There is nothing to stop scammers posing as credit collection centers.

If one calls you, and you do actually owe money - keep in mind - you don't owe the money to them directly. You also have no assurance that they will mark the debt as collected or close your file - even if they are legit.

Never send them money transfers or western union and never, ever, EVER give your credit card.

Honestly, if you owe money - contact the company/organization you owe the money to (by letter if you fear the phone call). Ask for an arrangement to pay the debt back on terms you can deal with (like $20 a month if that's what you can do). Tell them that you will not deal with a collection company - you will only deal with them.

If they insist on using a 3rd party collector - then ask for it all in writing - including the name of the collection company, the address, the case number, etc - and never, ever pay by cash or money transfer or credit card.
