- No NAME PLEASE :) former debt collector replies to Upset Neighbor(s)In most states, it is not against the law to "contact" a third party, if the intent of the "contact" is to locate a debtor. You can check your state laws, to see if it is against the law in your state. If you are in MO or KS (the 913 area code?) It is NOT against the law. It IS against the law for a THIRD PARTY debt collector to HARASS you. A single phone call is not considered harrassment, but multiple calls are. It is also against the law for the company to mis-represent his/herself or the company, or their intent. For example, they cannot say they are concerned about the neighbor's well-being/health, that they are offering a job, or that they are a friend/family member trying to get back in touch. No call registeries are for solicitors only and do NOT include debt collectors. Options are: 1) Get your number unlisted in the phone book, 2) Tell the company you do NOT want to be contacted when they call. You can take down the company name, and the name of the person you talk to; and get the # off your caller id. If the company calls again, notate the info. again; and either: 1) call the company and make a complaint to their H/R department, &/or a complaint with the FDCPA, - if the calls continue, you can seek legal consultation
- CheriThe same Carla lady called and lied saying she was with Safe Auto, gave me our policy number then turned on me saying she was with so and so and was a debt collector for something totally different that is a debt owed since we were destroyed by Ike. I made arrangements and paid this bill off but I told her off, said that since this was a recorded conversation, it goes both ways and I was recording her, threatened he with a lawsuit if she ever called back and she hung up!

- DinaI have gotten several calls from this number but like some of you say, they don't leave a message, so as far as I'm concerned it's not important and what makes them think that I will go over to my neighbor, if it's important I'm sure they will have another telephone number to contact their family members. What do I look like going over to my neighbor, if it is a collection agency if he's not answering the phone, me going over there is not going to do anything either, especially if now he feels embarrassed but in this day of economy no one feels embarrassed it's happening to the best of folks.
- michaelJust got called from them. I have reported and black listed them on my Android phone using Call Control -- 5 stars for that app!

- Amy Clark Kleinpeter replies to Please Remove My Phone Number...After the very first sentence, this is not correct on the law.
First --yes, the Do Not Call Registry has nothing to do with a debt collector calling.
Second -- absolutely a collection agency is violating the law by having neighbors take messages. The only reason a collection agency could call a neighbor is for location information -- to find out if a person lives somewhere. NO messages should be requested, no further information.
Any one has the absolute right to not answer their phone. That does not give rise to a right to call all neighbors and have them ferry messages over.
"In fact, the 'shock' your neighbor might feel as a result of having a debt collector contact his neighbor might prompt him to pay/settle their debt. "
Exactly, maybe shock and embarrass someone into paying a debt they do not owe. Our federal laws forbid shocking people into debt payment. - TCSleazy Debt Collectors that buy peoples debt that are going through a financial hardship. They pay pennies on the dollar for your debt. Just don't answer the phone if this number pops up, (913-971-0327).

- Ellen replies to PortinariUnfortunately, they can call people in an attempt to reach you but can't give you any information about why they are calling. if you tell them NOT to call again they are prohibited from doing so and you can file a complaint with the FCC.
- robert| 1 replyThis is a scam to get our money. If you start a payment again your staus of limitations start over again. In California, its 7 years. if you owe a debt they can't collect after the Seven year period. If you make one payment they can harras you again for another Seven years.Ohio, Is Ten Years

- Miguel MendezI'm using a pre-paid phone that I refill every month with $10 dollars since I just get calls from a relative (my other relatives almost NEVER call me). Well, this Agency called me twice but I never answered. Good thing is that I only get calls from the same person but if I answered, would cost me money. This must be anti-constitutional.

- strangeI received a call from this number around 7:30 P.M. having no respect for anyone with a family that is trying to spend together, They were looking for my grandmother that I have not spoken to in about 7 yrs. My number is listed private and have changed several times within that time. Not to mention my phone is listed privately under someone else's name... I want to know how they got my number?
- bjmantisCaller called my cellphone at least 2 times, left no message. I called them. A male voice told me they were looking for a person with a name I couldn't quite make out (unusual name). I told them I had no idea who it was (thought I wouldn't have reported anyone I DID know!). I told him they called my cellphone and I was about to report the call, and he said he did take it off his list.

- KThackerI got a call from this number today. They were asking for my husband and asked for our mailing address. I asked who it was and why they needed our address. She said that it was a "personal matter" and couldn't tell me. I told her, "Either tell me what this is about or you will receive NO information from me." She then says "Have a nice day" and hung up. I don't trust them as far as I can throw them. I am putting this number on my call block list.I was the executive assistant to a CEO. Trust me, I know how to be a gatekeeper. My advice to anyone is Do not give any personal information to anyone if they do not provide a legitimate reason.
- MysticI got a call from this number, no message, and I put it in my call-reject list.
Realize that any legitimate debt collector will contact you by mail with accurate details on the debt owed, a valid address to send mail/payments to, a valid number to call to verify the information, as well as information about the debt collection laws in your state.
There are a great many scammers out there who claim to be debt collectors to get past the do-not-call registries, who are hoping to get you to pay money to them, which they will pocket, and will not clear any debt of yours at all.
Many of these robo-callers are spoofed, with fake numbers, fake names, and fake "reasons" for calling you. If you answer the phone and talk to them, you may be redirected to a call center that will send you a bill for a foreign telephone service (through your regular phone bill) and you may be shocked at the amount. The point of the call is to get you to talk, and charge your phone. They make millions that way, and you can never trace them.
Never assume that a "debt collector" is legitimate, even if they appear to have info about you. They have access to all sorts of stored data, from voter registration files to internet stores, to your bank info. This is how they bypass your unlisted number.
Never give out information about a family member or neighbor to a stranger over the phone. Anyone can call posing as anyone, use a spoofed number, and may even have some information that seems valid, to trick you into talking. DON'T TALK TO THEM. They can buy lists of addresses and phone numbers and can get the names and numbers of you and all your neighbors. Would you want your neighbor to give out your number to a stranger who called? What if that person was an ex-spouse with a vendetta?
The scammers win when you talk to them. If you don't know the number, don't answer the phone. Period.- Call type: Text message
- DluowUoyShoot. Who knows what is going on here.
I saw a bunch of blocked phone calls this morning from (913) 971-0327. I finally got a voice mail that matched the exact time of one of the (917) calls. However, the person on the phone told me to call them back at (877) 288-0504. That (877) phone number belongS to or belongED to a divorce lawyer in Fort Worth, Texas. When I look up his name at the State Bar of Texas, it says that he is an Oil & Gas lawyer. Also, the phone number has changed from (877) 288-0504 to something else. It also appears that he has moved his office and his phone number.
Maybe some sleaze simply got the lawyer's old phone number. I don't know.
People are too nuts about getting money in any way that they can. They don't care at all about their fellow man -- only about some slips of paper and bits of metal. They will screw over anybody. We don't need more laws to stop this, we need more upstanding humans with some sense of caring for each other.- Caller: dunno
- TammyThis number calls my cell phone numerous times a day! They never leave a voicemail. My number is on the do not call list! They need to be stopped! My credit is perfect, so I don't know why they would be calling me.
- MysticI have gotten several calls from this number. I have it on call reject, but my phone records the incoming call although does not put it through. I looked the number up on WhitePages.com and it shows up as a VoIP number from Olathe, KA, and is associated with LOTS of spam.
In other words, it is [***], and don't answer it.- Caller: VoIP spammer
- MarkMI've got over two dozen of these calls blocked. It started with getting a new PAYG phone, and apparently all the robot dialers zoomed in on it. It may have been previously used by someone else but it makes no difference.
First - if your cell phone rings, I have to ask why do you answer it before checking the number? If you do, you only have yourself to blame. These guys aren't going away, it's only going to get worse. Keep answering and you only empower them to be more bold. Check to see who's calling - most phones display a name, not some random number you certainly don't know.
Put numbers like this on your reject call list. Check your phone programming - like I and others have said, we put them on reject. How your phone does it might be different than mine, I identify these deadbeats with a cute name, then put them on automatic hangup. It only takes a second - my phone doesn't even ring.
Second - I didn't activate my voice mail. Why? Well, there's this thing called text, where a family member can send a message, and it's about the third the cost of having to dial in to the answering system and burn minutes - plus I get to know up front what is going on. It's short and sweet, not a ten minute BS conversation when I'm likely trying to do something more important. "Milk, bread, and cereal XOXO" is sufficient.
Point being, you own the phone and the minutes, make an effort to protect what rightfully belongs to you.- Caller: client services
