igot a call from this person today saying they were going to take me to court because of cancer treatments and i had untill friday to pay them , they said i had a baiance of 76,ooo.oo but they would settle for 25,000.00 is this a real law firm or a ripp off

I have gotten calls from this company too, they are a real company and it is legit i had an outstanding balance to cornerstone and some medical bills too. I used to be bad with paying all my bills and i would get letters all the time, but you know what they helped lower my balance and they even did payment plans and I no longer owe anything. Its people that dont pay their bills that get called so to make it all go away then just pay on time, and also maybe this is why the US is in bebt because of people that dont pay their bills. Oh and people that use the government like medicare or medicate it doesnt always cover , so you know what everyone just pay !

I just got a call from Michael Stone... As far as i know, they get retained by the client (for me it was Cornerstone) to handle accounts that are delinquent. I made sure they a legit and not a scam by having Michael emailed me a sign contract with my signature. It ended up showing that i was in a two year contract NOT ONE YEAR. I asked if we can work out a arrangement or a settlement. He reduced my balance by 20 percent off and it is automatically withdrawn out of my account once a month for 3 months. They are willing to work with you as long as you work with them. VERY GOOD COMPANY, EVEN PROVIDED ME WITH A NOTARIZED PAPER WORK PAYING OFF THE BALANCE

NOTE: They say "the FIRM Preston Powers and Stone" - firm means office. Just because everyone else assumed they are an attorneys office doesn't mean they are liars and fake. It's not their fault we fall behind on our payments

My recommendation is to call the Client to see if Preston Powers and Stone is handling your file.

this is a legit company, I was called too and they helped out alot !! I was helped by micheal stone and he was very helpfull once i told him that im not refussing to pay, cause i understand I did get cancer treatment and i know treatment arent cheap

I am having the exact same issue.  Did you ever receive payment?  I have been waiting since Oct. '10

I got a call they just said, "It's important you call me today."  I tried calling back and get an "all circuits are busy" message.  Not sure what's up.

A man called me at my home today March 8, 2011, to reach my adult daughter who lives in another state.  He claimed he was with Preston, Power and Stone.  

The man acted like he was representing something official and said my daughter had provided him with her number, which happened to be my number; weird.  My daughter hasn't lived at home for over twelve years.

I asked him to tell me what his call was about and he was evasive and refused to tell me what it was about.

Very mysterious.

Preston Powers & Stone is hired by creditors(local ones mostly) their hired to collected on past dues, their not a law firm, they id as one (which u can sue when they due) they will say what they have to  to collect their commission employees. Dont pay these people what their doing is not paying your creditors, which they should within a month to update your credit report. there scamers, they have done it with blockbuster video, rio grande valley hopstl, Go workout-southside! Their probly still collecting on your accounts. what u shld do is mail a letter to every single accnt u xfer to cmrg.llc.lp (preston powers & stone) to see how many pple call u back to say they have paid! good luck!

They are trying to sue me too if i dont pay a debt, but they dont sound legit and i read comment of poeple saying that theyre not a law firm..Do you have any advice? Im only 18 years old and I go to school, I feel very harassed. Im also trying to build my credit score, a couple a weeks ago i received a call from a guy that was very rude to me, he asked for my credit card information, which i dont even own a credit card, and he got very rude when i said that i didnt feel comfortable discussing my personal information over the phone. He also threatened to mess up my credit score that same day if I didn't pay what i owed to blockbuster, i told him that i didnt have any money and he started threatening me. Now they have sent me a letter saying that theyre going to sue me and that I will be responsible for there lawyers fees and so on, again, Im only 18 and I have been worrying about this, I dont know who to go to in order to get any advice about this because this has never happened to me before. Can you please give me some advice on how youre going about this situation?
