Received a telephone call from a man who advised me that my microsoft windows program had a virus that needed to be removed right away.  Of course this was a criminal who only wanted me to give him access to my computer so he could rape me of my financial data.  I told him that he would soon be caught, imprisoned and then he would be raped of all his financial dignity.  For some reason, he immediately hung up without saying goodby.

They can spoof any phone number. It may show an Oregon number but it could be anywhere. We kept getting phone calls from debt collectors looking for my brother-in-law. I just quit answering the phone. They were calling 6 times a day. Then I get a call showinga local number and says it is Wells Fargo, my mortgage company. It was the debt collectors. They also did the same thing showing my local hospital. They numbers showing were valid numbers for both companies but the person calling had a heavy
    Middle Eastern accent.

I saw a previous post saying not to push whatever number to discontinue future calls because it just confirms your number is a good number and you will just get more scam phone calls. My state's Attorney General says to just hang up and file a complaint. With them spoofing numbers I doubt they'll they will be caught though.

I received 2 calls from them.  My husband answered the first one and when my husband was talking they could hear people in the background.  I took the call today and when I told them that they already called here and that someone was laughing in the backgounds so they are full of crap!  I told them I was calling my local phone company to report them.  The guy then replied.."BLAH BLAH BLAH"..I hung up so that shows it a fraud call!!!

Called at 3:33 pm EST; caller display 971-217-9581, from 'Technical Department of Windows', to say that Windows had been unable to access my computer for updates, and wanted to check it. Actually, my Windows update log was valid today.

The caller had an educated Esast Indian voice. When challenged about the authenticity  and place of origin of the call, he said 'New York'. I asked for a call-back number - he said '210-880-4791'  and for his name  - 'Ryan';  Employee No. 'AJ 1036'

This is reminiscent of a scam I was caught up in in November 2012

Just got a call from this number this morning. Called up here to Ontario, Canada. Warned us that we've been infected with malware for quite some time and that we should log onto our computer so we can deal with it. Came up with a poor reason as to why they had our information when asked about it. Needless to say, the phone call didn't last very long before I hung up. At least this particular scammer had the decency to deny affiliation with Microsoft.

I live in Canada and keep getting calls from this number, don't answer it and if it is one of those numbers that say press 9 to be removed from their call list- DON'T press anything just hang up because there are several that redirect your call and you can actually get a huge phone bill out of it!

I have also figured out that a collection agency sold my number- it seems that if they can not get a hold of you and after 50 messages left to call them back about an urgent business matter- I suddenly started getting dozens of telemarketing calls, survey calls- you name it I am getting them.
I will never ever answer their calls or their letters because I DON"T owe them money or rather their "client" which is Rogers rip off cell phone company.

    Us army.
This number and all other numbers they use, are calls from Skype. They may say its from Oregon but there's a good chance it's a sweat shop in the Middle East.

Just received a call saying my computer was infected with a malicious virus and they were from windows. I was immediately wary and asked how would they even know. I also asked for a number so I could verify their credibility and the man who by the way had a heavy Indian accent said his name was Jake Lewis and the phone number was 210-880-4791. I'm so glad I googled this. Thanks to all who took time to post and warn. I also hope this helps someone else.

received the same call.  After a few seconds of his speech I asked him to hold on a second, he agreed.  I grabbed a whistle and blew on it as long as I could into the phone.  He hung up.  Problem solved.

I am sick of solicitors, telemarketers, prank calls.

I decided to try a different approach.

This time caller's name was Cindy... strong foreign accent.  Once she stated the reason for her call I asked her to hold for second.

I was still on the line, but stated out loud "did you hide the body?"

I waited a few seconds as if I was waiting for a response, then stated "I have an alibi, I am holding with Cindy, you better think of one for yourself." I heard Cindy gasp and hang up on me.

I will have to try this again with other solicitors.

I received a call from someone pretending to be from Microsoft saying that my home PC could be infected every time I get on the internet, which is ironic because I use the latest updated anti-virus and malware protection. They called my mobile number randomly from their number which was 971-217-9518 and when I told them I was not in the office they said, "have a good day" and hung up.

Doug, here's a couple of more numbers you can call to mess with them. Guy with an accent I could barely
understand said my machine would shut down in a day or two due to contamination. Said he was a
M'Soft security dude & if I did what he said, my machine would be safe. Gave me his spiel then told me
to enter www followed by dot, then ammyy followed by dot com. I asked what city was he calling from ?
He then hung up. I proceeded to Google 'ammyy" which lead me to this page. The above took place over two
phone calls. The numbers to mess with & shoot crap at 'em are 1-206-397-1127 & 1-971-217-9518. Have fun.
