Polite gentleman identified himself by the name of Lyon from Credit Safe who asked for our Managing Director by name.  

I normally ask for a caller's name and company name to ask if the Director will take the call (sometimes they're interested in sales calls) but from the looks of all the negative feedback here, I don't think we'll talk to this guy!

These guys have been tyring to sell to me for a while. They weren't professional at all and when I told them to call me back in six months for a demo the guy said "I want to show you this now, it won't wait for you." I hung up and he called me back a few weeks ago, acting as if the previous conversation hadn't happened. I told him we'd never deal with them after that and to go away. Short while later another guys calls back. We tell him to go away. This morning we get a call, we take it and they hang up.

You can report this to Trading Standards, we will. We will also report them to the Information Commissioners office for failing to act on a request to be removed from their database.

I also recommend lodging a complaint to
- The Institute of Credit Management
- The Association of Credit Professionals.

I'm always fielding calls like this, I just say noone is available, email or fax and we'll call you if we're interested. Don't be afraid to say no.

Trying to sell a list of 4.4million companies, pushy and a pain - find it difficult as I try to be as polite as possible when saying no, Chris from this number just on the phone and broker the record for amount of no thankyous I had to give before he abruptly hung up to try and find next victim

I just got the same place. Couldn't make out what the company was actually called as he was chatting to his mates when I picked up, and I just said no thanks.
Tell them that you're just not interested, thank you - in my opinion if you say they've got the wrong number they will only re-dial to make sure they haven't got it wrong! If you're honest and say no not interested you have a better chance of getting rid - in my experience anyway.

They called me today and when I said I wasnt interested in credit checking she carried on talking over me, when I politely said "did you hear me?" her response was I AM DEAF!
How rude...

Got a call from this number earlier today. Its not a number I recognise so I hit a button on my mobile which sends the busy tone to them. Never got a call back, but lets wait and see what tomorrow brings eh?

As a ex Creditsafe soldier I would just like to say I think your all forgeting the current climate of business in the uk!

Maybe if more companies operated like creditsafe we would have nowhere near as many companies going bust, Its true the company has a hard sell method of business but personally I would rather someone get straight to the point than pussyfoot around what they wish to do!

On another note if your companies experimented with some simular tactics I am sure you would get some possitive results as this is just how things are these days!

I dont like cold callers

i have had these tossers just call me! I said i was not interested and he said "please here my pitch i have practised it for 3 days" i said no and put the phone down. He then called back and said "give me a bloody chance mate, i have got three kids" in an abrupt voice ..... i put the phone down again.

Hey Dangerous Creditsafe User, that's fighting talk. Everyone contributing has a right to say what they like.

Saw it on my caller display and punched ito here and thanks to this site and the results I saw I didn't bother answering it! :-)

The Creditsafe product is a good one. It gives you lots of details about supplier credit worthiness and company performance. Really useful information. I got drawn in on the prospect of being able to create mailing lists from the data. They started out at £1000 and eventually I bought at £150 thinking I had a bargain. Then I found another business in my town had the full service for under £100. Moral of this story. Negotiate very hard. Especially with the Welshman.

Had a call before Christmas from a guy called David Jenkins, had a nice chat - he was great but I couldn`t give him the time. Since Christmas David Jenkins has left Credit Safe and I`ve been plagued by idiots from Credit Safe who just want to sell and move on to the next client. No Chance now David Jenkins has gone

i get calls from this place even though i am registered with TPS.
damned nuisance calls.

We run a web design company and recently have been bombarded by calls from this company trying to sell us 5000 prospects for £600. Despite telling them on several occasions that we are not interested, callers keep getting agressive in approach and in speech. Last call i received was on Saturday evening while i was out having dinner with friends. I just could not believe this, i told him plainly to P*** off, he in return called me a k***head, and said i was not worth his time and he would be smikrking when someone con us. I said whatever made him happy as long as he doesn't phone back.

This afternoon, i received another phone call. I am seriously thinking of going down to my local police station and filing for harassment.

Just had a call from someone calling himself 'Mr Foster' from this number. He sounded like he was from the West Country. Asked for the office manager, I said they are not in. Asked for finance manager. I said they were unavailable (both of which were true). He said "I need to talk to a manager urgently". I asked what was it regarding? is it a customer? He said "No, its regardig your businesses credit and is urgent." I said ill try and contact the MD on his mob and he hung up.

First call from them and better be the last

I had two calls this morning. I have dealt with Creditsafe before and they were usually ok - but then Marketsafe their sister company got onto me too and kept trying to sell mailing lists. Today they called and my call whisper told me, so I declined the call, immediately they called again so I answered and they tried to sell me access to their credit database (which is always out of date BTW) and some mailing lists for new businesses as they had been through my website and saw I do a start-up package. I'm wondering how they got my business details as I have only just started as a sole trader? Probably the government selling on our details :)
