    hey guys,
i have been getting these calls for 3 days straight now calling all hours from 4 am till midnight....apparently they only sleep 4 hours a day...
they keep saying a case has been filed, you need to take legal actions, etc. etc. etc.
things to do with these calls....DONT EVERY say "Yes" they will record it play it out of context and use it to take money from your account, trust me....
if they DO happen to rattle off your SSN or your Bank Account numbers,  call your local police department, they will help you file a Stolen Identity Report,  get the Report number from the police then call your Service Provider and you can have the number blocked...
    hope this helps you guys

This is a 100% scam. They also keep changing their #. They got your number from a payday loan facility - they are not legit. Call any legitimate payloan and they'll tell you they are a scam; they'll even ask if they have Indian accents.

Like someone else posted I get these calls every few months. They don't even bother me anymore. Indian guy calls, tells me there is a case being filed against me in court and if I don't pay they will send police to my work and home to arrest me. I tell them okay I'll be waiting. :) That always throws them for a loop. They then start to stutter and say good luck in court and hang up. Nothing EVER happens except I may get a second call a few days later and I remind them that I already talked to them and they said they were sending the police a few days ago so why are they calling again and I'm still waiting. They quickly hang up then. After that it usually goes a few months and I don't hear anything and then like today it starts again and I tell them the same thing. "okay I'll be waiting patiently for the police. Thank you for calling" I refuse to change my number because of these idiots. I answer the call the minute I see one of these fake numbers and I just play their game better than they do.

Got a call a few minutes ago from "The Law Office" saying a case was being filed against me in court tomorrow (Sunday?!?!?!?!) and could they speak to my attorney of record. I told them I was an attorney and asked what law firm they calling from because "The Law Office" is not enough information. I also asked what was their Bar Association number was and the guy went "Um, um, good luck in court" and hung up. What a joke.

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
    1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
    2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
    3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
    4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
    5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

    Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
    By Leslie McFadden • Bankrate.com
    Monday, Aug. 3
    Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
    The BBB offers these tips:
    •    Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
    •    Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
    •    File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    •    File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you.

Not trying to worry anyone but my friends brothers last call on his caller Id unit was 00000, and he is now dead and they do not know how he died. The police said they can not trace this number, as there is no such a number weird stuff. Do not pick up that phone no matter what.

I keep getting calls on my cell from 0000 & 00000000 as well. No one else I know gets them. I answered for quite a while & there was never any indication of anything on the other end, human or machine. My bf said it was someone trying to steal my information & I don't know if I believe that but I stopped answering & now I just hit ignore. But I get more activity from those numbers than from texts & calls from real people put together. I have an app on my BB & iPod called Mr. Numbers & it can identify just about anything- spam, telemarketer, debt collector, or at the very least it can tell you the location it came from. However, this is the only number it couldn't id. Talk about freaky. So I will call and get those numbers blocked but I still want to find out what those numbers are. If anyone finds out & would like to let me know, please send me a message (402) 909-5885. It's not a real phone so calls don't always work, texts are best. Thanks :)

okay so i have been getting calls from them for like 3 months now... I finally answered them today.. I said what do you want and why... he asked me why i hung up on him before.. i said bc  you are harassing me so quit calling my phone f'kn phone... he had to ask me 3 times ( bc i couldn't understand him) if I was ready to go to jail.. I told him that i know that they are not a real agency and that I ( I really did) sent an email to my state rep about them and gave them their number and all the info I got on them. I also told them if they don't quit calling me and the next time that they do I will call the state police and report them, and his response he hung up.. So don't fall for the scam that's all it is and if they keep harassing you pick up and tell them that you are going to report them to the police and your state rep. and he calls himself either justin black or a couple of other names.

I get calls like this about once a week on my cell tele and now they have started calling my land line. Threatening if I do not call them back or have my attorney on record call me back, then they wish we good luck. I think certain companies have sold private information to them. I think the companies that do this should be reported. I don't know who those would actually be, but I do think some of them are pay day loan companies. These people even call for my father who is deceased. Geez, the people need to get a life and earn a real living. Scamming people and scaring people into paying them money is beyond unbelievable, especially the elderly.

I received a call from this 0000 4 times today. They made one mistake after leaving several messages. One time they called and did not realize they were being recorded on my voice mail and 2 men were speaking to each other in another dialect, I believe it was Indian dialect, not sure. The man that called said that if I did not call him back or my attorney on record call him back then all he could do is wish me good luck. Scam debt collectors. Do not answer the call.

I receive at least 2 or more of these calls per week.  Sometimes it's not even me they are asking for.  Always the same thing.  I am being sued by someone for non payment of a pay day loan which I never had.  Always someone with an accent that can barely speak English.
