- mr smithIt was 7:30 in the morning the call came in from my wife's new work phone. they called twice, the first time my wife just hung up on them because they asked for somebody that she didn't know. They called back immediately and told her it was the FBI and asked for the unknown guy was and said I know who you are and gave a date of birth that was a decade off from my wife's birth date. She became frustrated at which time i took the phone and started being pissy with they guy on the other line. He finally got the message that we don't know the guy he was asking for and that the phone number he called to reach us is my wife's new work phone number. it also didn't help that he had a thick accent and we could not understand him.

- ashI got another call from 0000 the first time in awhile this time a man left me an urgent voicemail telling me I committed some crime and his name was john smith ( so original) ....last time they called claiming I was going to be in jail that coming fridayand I had to appear in court ( of course which courthouse was excluded from convo) then they called three weeks later and when I told them I was in jail already since supposedly I went three fridays ago as they said I would ( sarcasm obviously) he then began calling me every name in the book! If they are going to try to scam people shouldn't they atleast lie better!
- chaserVague inquiries about "a problem with your computer". References to "Microsoft" and "Support", but because the gentleman was barely articulate, I could make no sense of his intention. He would not answer my questions, and eventually hung up the phone.
- Caller: Global PC Support
- JaneI got a call from "Mark Williams" claiming that he was from the FBI. He said something about a payday loan, which I have never taken out. He claimed that there was going to be a lawsuit filed against me if I didn't pay. I told him that I googled there # "000" & knew what he was doing. He then called back 3 times, I sent him to voice mail & he left me a message telling me to call him back on his "direct line": 1-347-669-4740
- Caller: 000
- DiddyReceived a phone call from these guys yesterday. Deep Indian accents with American names. They informed me that they were calling regarding a payday loan I hadn't paid on and they were going to press charges.
I recognized this as an obvious scam so I gave them fake information including an Indian name I made up. After giving them the information, I informed them to ball up the sheet of paper they just wrote on and shove it up his a**.
Me and Michael Sheffield continued to argue for around 5 minutes about everything from his mother to his job and finally his wife. He finally got frustrated and angry enough to hang up.
Great time with scammers. I hope they call again soon.- Caller: USA Cash America

The following information is from the FBI website on E-Scams and Warnings:
Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
12/01/2010—The IC3 receives a high volume of complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. In these scams, a caller claims that the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check cashing services.
One of the most insidious aspects of this scam is that the callers have accurate information about the victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. The method by which the fraudsters obtained the personal information is unclear, but victims often relay that they had completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls began.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide to the victims any details of the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers threaten victims with legal actions, arrests, and in some cases physical violence if they refuse to pay. In many cases, the callers even resort to harassment of the victim’s relatives, friends, and employers.
Some fraudsters instruct victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain dollar amount, on a specific date, via prepaid visa card. The statement further declares that the victim would never dispute the debt.
These telephone calls are an attempt to obtain payment by instilling fear in the victims. Do not follow the instructions of the caller.
If you receive telephone calls such as these, you should:
* Contact your banking institutions;
* Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
* Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
* File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.- Caller: Scammer
