All day I've been receiving random phone calls on my home phone... when i answer the person/people just hang up... I even got a call from California and I live in New York! I don't want it to start on my cell phone now!

00000000...it's a universal # for international call centers.  The people that keep calling me are from Ingram Micro.

i just had a call from this number (+00000000) an English guy trying to ask me something but someone else in the back ground was making him laugh, ended up hanging up, no idea who it was or what they wanted.

call at three twenty six am mum lives alone also son just had new baby panicked and worried something was wrong not good no one there when i answered phone

Had a call at 5:15 this morning from this number, like butterworth you always expect the worst getting a call at this time! This is illegal calling at this time in the morning.

Had a call this afternoon from a very persistant man with a slight Indian accent, asking for me by a variation of my name. When I asked who was calling, he launched into a spiel about Debt management and mentioned something about government. I told him he had the wrong number and hung up.

He called straight back telling me he had the right number, and read out a postcode that was not mine. I told him to take the details off the list as they are wrong, and hung up. 1471 number I got is 00000000. Is the TPS itself selling details now!? as it's rather a coincidence that I've not long registered this number with TPS.

had over 12 calls in a period of a week from  a number 00000000 and i told them to f**k off, i then hung up 2 mins later hr rang to say he has got police out on me and that he hopes my family dies. unknown to him i recored call and got ofcom involved so far no many calls

I keep getting the same calls every day its s o annoying

This company has phoned me over 5 times during the last 10 hours. When they called last I told them they had the wrong number, they said they didnt and wanted to speak to the owner of the company, clearly unaware that the number was residential. Anyway, I informed him that because he refused to take my number off their database and they have continued to harass me I was recording the call to be given to the police and used in court to sue them for harassment under the Harassment Act 1997, he said no worries, no worries and couldn't wait to get off the line. Will let you know if they decide to call back; this could be the way to deal with them even if you don't record the call or go the legal route.

Ok had hundreds of these calls in a few months its a company calling themselves the debt advisory centre among other names now there is a legit company called the debt advisory centre who are aware of these indian scammers (mumbai calling springs to mind) they are trying to get them shut down.

been getting regular calls from this 'money/debt management' place....never given me their company name though.

Always an Indian person ringing, they always ask for someone with an Indian name and when I say wrong number they ask to speak to the owner of this phone number.

They then go on about government debt management help and am I interested?

When they rang yesterday I asked how they got my number as it's not listed....he just said it was listed on a commercially available list....unlikely as it's been registered with tPS since I first moved in and got the number!
When I started asking him who their copany was, he kept talking over me and just kept repeating the question are you interested yes or no.

In the end I got frustrated and told him what I thought of him and where he could go...not quite in those words though!

Got a call from these halfwits today but I wasn't in. They must have been disappointed.

It's time the law was tightened up.

Asian sounding man called from this number again today (4th time in 6 days) and asked to speak to my daughter (as they always do) so I told them she had died last night in a car accident (not true but I wanted to judge his reaction) and, totally unphased, he just asked if he could speak to the home owner instead then, just as though I had just told him she was out!!! I hung up.

Phone rang with this odd number, so checked it out here.  I think if they call again I will try an unrecognisable accent I am guessing that the callers are geared towards English speakers!

Yep! Loks like I'm another one to join the list of many.
I don't know who this is either but considering there are several pages on this number perhaps we should all complaint to Ofcom.
Who ever is using this number thinks it funny to say 'Hello..Hello..' when someone is trying to speak to them.

they have rung 3 times today thought my phone was dodgy the third time i picked up an indian man kept saying hello hello and blanked me when i said who is it i thought wot a prick

Here is a tip I got from Andy Rooney:

Answer the call, let them say hello... say hello back and ask "can they please hold for a second."

Then put down the phone.  They will hang up on their own almost instantly.  Ending the call.  But it gets better:

 This eats into both their International calling costs AND the operator's calling time. Do this more than once and they will not bother you again.

If we ALL do this.  Then they would lose money with all their operators on HOLD all the time.

Sorry.. meant the operator's "quota" time.

And the best part is after asking them to hold... you can hear them whimper "hello"  "hello"  until they need to hang up.
