Came up on my 1471

This call came through my phone, surprised me with 00044 starting and because somtimes I get International call I thaught may be it was from some one I know. I dailed back the heavy men's voice I heard but I hang on quickly.  so for twice more appeared on my phone and I don't feel comfortable about it. It is just horible.

My Father has missed two calls from 000442088618682 he does not know who the caller is. When he tried ringing the number a recorded message reported 'it has not been possible to connect your call'
As my nephew is a missing person we don't know if it is him trying to make contact or a bogus caller.

just out of interest. 044 is uk country code -  so thought I would modify No as follows- ... removing 00044 leaves you with 2088618682. Performing a search on this site for '02088618682' actually generates a hit!
Mean anything; connected or just a mad coincidence?

This phone number came up when I called 1471.. There was no message.. Why call someone and leave no message.. Dont' like it.

Just had a call from this number who said they are an independant consumer survey company then I put the phone down.

no message left, calling at weekend.

got a call from this number, hung up when I answered. can I get these numbers barred from calling me? They are a nusiance. Where do the get my number from?

Missed call from this number

i got a call from this number on a sunday morning at 10.39 he said he was doing a survey and when i asked him where he got my number he said the number was automatically generated. I asked for him not to call again but somehow i think they will ring again

I called the number you mentioned which turned out to be an 0208 number routed through 00044, as an earlier poster showed. It turned out to be IPSOS/Mori, a research company.  

I have a Truecall call screening machine and saw the red light flashing which proved that my Truecall was screening out this cold caller, but as usual, I got paranoid that I was missing out on a real caller and dialled 1471

The Truecall call screener was a prize but I would have paid for it as it is such a boon.

Rceived a call from that number today and ignored it.

I received a call from this number which I picked up by 1471
Following the suggestion by robbi (dec 20090) I also looked up the number 02088618682 and got to ipsos mori
I wonder if the 00044 digits at the start of the number are used to penetrate my number blocking set up on my phone account
I have complained to Ipsos mori and await their answer

Astrid (with an Indian accent) from Mori polls called at 8:45 p.m. wanting to "ask me a few questions".  I subscribe to TPS, do not take kindly to cold calls in the evening and I do not give my time (for free to a complete stranger).  I simply told her to f*** off and put the phone down

I had this number call me this morning.I did'nt recognise the number so I did'nt answer it.It's a nuisance.

After complaining to one of these researchers I was told they are in India!!! I have also complained to Ipsos/Mori on their website & told them I will be reporting them if any further calls are received, I am registered with TPS.
If you complain online they will ask for your name & email address, I have left my phone number but no other details, they don't need them. I have entered 'Information irrelevent' in those boxes. If Ipsos/Mori wish to contact me they can talk to me by telephone, that way they won't be swamping my email or letterbox with their surveys!
As their researchers are calling from India they appear to have their calls diverted through some kind of system Ipsos/Mori have at their London Harrow office, thus producing the 0 0044 number.

As above, this is a market research company.  I think they use the 00044 number to jump TPS lists.  Also, this is a reply from a Mori to a customer who asked why they call when they are on TPS:
"It is a legal requirement under The Privacy and Electronic
Communications Regulations (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 for companies
or organisations that are making unsolicited calls (cold calling) for
sales or marketing purposes to filter those calls against the TPS lists.
There are no legal or regulatory requirements to filter unsolicited
calls made for research purposes against the TPS. Our call to your
telephone number was NOT intended to sell, market or provide any details
for any goods or services in any way. Our call would have been made to
request your participation in a genuine research study. In conducting
these studies we are required to ensure that the individuals who take
part are fully representative of the target audience being researched.
To exclude individuals with TPS registered telephone numbers could bias
the results. It would also deny you the opportunity of participating in
this research, the results of which may impact policies or services you
use! We have found that a similar number of individuals who have TPS
registered numbers take part in our studies compared to those who are
not TPS registered."

I think in this case you need to formally ask them to remove your data from their records.
I used to work for a telesales company (Sorry everyone) for a while, and by asking to have your data removed, was the only way you could have the calls stopped.  Also, be aware that if you sign up fo TPS, it takes them around 6 weeks to update their information so you may still get calls such as this in that period.
