We are registered with TPS but still got this call.

I had a call today but put the phone down as it was automated and I thought
it would be a scam

This number was blocked from getting through to us yesterday by our TrueCall box. It also correctly identified it as a Vietnam number. By setting our box to block International & withheld numbers, we avoid all the worlds conmen.

This was really annoying.  We are signed up to telephone preference service, or whatever it is called, but still calls come through.  You couldn't even cut her off because the recorded message kept on going until the end.

I had a call from this number at 09.55 this morning - I didn't answer it because I NEVER answer numbers I don't recognise, or number withdrawn calls! I do have an answerphone, so if it is anything important they can leave a message. I am also registered with the TPS and am ex-directory....fat lot of good that seems to do...

I received a call from 00845 0304436, the number was confirmed using 1471. This number belongs to a company called Curvedairglobal based in the UK. So it appears you cannot trust CLI to correctly identify an incoming call.

An unsolicited call from this company, who then subjected me to an automatic marketing message which wouldn't stop, even when I tried to hang up on them. They were stopping me using my own telephone!

Have just had a call from this no. and it was an automated questionnaire which I did not respond to and hung up. I picked the phone up again to do 1471 and the robot was still asking questions, this went on for a few minutes (hanging up and dialling 1471 and still getting this questionnaire) I eventually got the number. and you can't tell a recorded message that you are registered with the TPS!

It's a Vietnam number (international dial code 0084).

Vietnamese numbers have the following format:
* 0084 - country code for Vietnam
* area code - the next 1-3 digits
* phone number: The remaining 5-7 digits

It is NOT a UK number, you can't simply decide to drop off the 1st 0 and presume it's a UK number.

That is just plain daft!!!

It would be like dropping off  the 1st 0 from a US number (001) to presume they are also a UK number!!

I received a call from this number on a Sunday afternoon.  When I answered it turned out to be a recorded message with a woman with a Scottish accent saying it was from [I couldn't catch the name] marketing company and telling you to press key number (I think it was six, but she spoke pretty fast) if I didn't want to receive any more calls from them.  However, I remember doing this when I received a call from them a few months ago - and still they try again.

You can also zero rate these pests here; I have had endless calls from these idiots and pressing 9 does nothing! Grrrr!

It's called sugging.

1) Curved Air company phone up with a survey

2) Later or on another day a Hot House company phones to sell you overpriced rubbish saying you completed a survey (pressing 9 does not work so you complete the survey they say)

3) It's an old scam that TPS and DMA don't do a damn thing to prevent.

4) NEW Legislation is required to allow consumers to opt out of marketing and survey calls as well as sales calls.

The only current remedy is to e-mail them asking them to remove you from all lists and to cc the ICO.
Then to inform the ICO of a data protection breach when they contact you again.

I'VE HAD SEVERAL CALLS NOW FROM AN AUTOMATED SERVICE...I only realised that after I let the woman do her talk and then I tried to stop her and ask questions as suggested by some other people on this website! I was reluctant to press "9" to stop further calls in case it was another one of those scams where the caller suddenly has access to your phone etc.... Maybe I'll do that next time now I've read the feedback from previous receivers of the same calls.
These calls are such a waste of time but I still have to answer the phone in case it's someone I need to hear from....Yep I'm also registered to stop these types of calls. Hey Ho!

I just received a call and my wife is livid that I will now be charged with receiving the call and dialling 9 to request I receive no more calls from this number.

Does anyone know if I will get charged for receiving this call and dialling 9? My wife says I should always put the receiver down to stop the call, is this the best thing to do? best wishes Andrew

Number originates from Warsaw in Poland. It's a marketing survey with a Scottish computer run voice. If genuine why not tell us which company it is ? Why not a real person? What's the catch...maybe you are paying for an overseas call by answering; the oldest scam going!

Called me again today.  Recording of a Scottish lady to give it some credibility NOT.  Unfortunately the goverment doesn't protect against this phone mugging or similarly rogue buiilders however if I robbed someone in the street I'd go to prison.
