I've had lots of calls similar to many of the above over a number of months possibly over a year ago. 12 Nov was the first time I was able to get a number from 1471, I'm also with T.P.S. I've called the number back and got the one long tone unobtainable signal. Called my phone company and they suggested google. I once had the time to waste their time and gave them a load of ficticious bank details, kept them talking on the line, asked for their number which was refused. After keeping them talking for at least 10 mins I confessed my dreadful deed and said there is no such person as       UV Beanad. They thanked me for my time and said goodbye. This particulat call began with a marvellous mobile phone deal. I've also had loads of very similar calls about mobile offers and when asked they've said they're from T-Mobile

They called me again this morning - this is the third time.  I'm going to circulate this number on other forums.

Just received a call from this number. Fortunately did not make phone before voicemail kicked in! As there was a number on 1471 (though grantd a foreign based one 00...), thought I would search it online. Glad I did. Also registered with TPS, but the problem with this is it is only enforceable on UK based calls as far as I am aware. Asked a friend in BT about these "dead line" calls. She said that they have a few call handlers sitting at desks and PCs randomly dialling thousands of numbers. If one gets picked up a handler takes it, but if too many get picked up then not enough handlers so we get a dialling tone on answering.

Just had the same call today at 2PM as well as yesterday and the day before, offering me a mobile phone for £14 per month with a fre IPHONe :s after contacting BT they confirmed that it is a premium number, so dont call it back. Im also registered with TPS but they seem to get past this somehow! Ive reported it to BT and they are investigating it further, if you ask BT they can block this number for you free of charge if its a nuisance call, which they have done so for me.

had this same number call today

I am on the tps as are a few people who have commented in this thread, unfortunatly it has no powers over companies outside UK

all they do is have a dialler automatically ringing every possible number, once it is verified as an active line, it goes on a list, every time you let them know any details, even your name etc, it is added to the list.  they sell these lists to other people aswell so if you give them any info you will be plagued by calls from them and others.

never give anyone any details about you, where you live, etc once its clear what type of call it is either hang up, or leave the phone on the side so they are talking to air usually after a few calls they realise they are wasting time and money calling you and will forget about you for a while.

They phoned this morning while I was asleep.
I didn't answer but rang 1471 when I got up and it was this number.

I'm getting sick of these inconsiderate morons calling me.  Is there a common link between everyone here?  Did we all submit out details to a website?

I have had a few of these calls this week.  I have not answered any of them and have advised my children if they see any numbers beginning with 0091 DONT answer the phone.   I tell them if its important then someone will leave a message.  I also have my number blocked on TPS.

Same as all of the above.  My daughter answered and hung up on hearing the music.  How comes if its from Dubai the number is shown on the caller display?  Anyway if they are from Dubai they should receive 50 lashes for this.

This number rings often but upon answering, nobody speaks. Damned annoying.

I have an update on this and the answer from a colleague who is a telecoms expert (thanks William).

0091 shows that the call originated from an Indian Call Centre (0091 is the International Dialling code for India).  International Calls do not usually appear on caller display but some companies generate them to comply with direct marketing guidelines.  The music, which many of us encountered, means that the call was generated by an autodialer and there were no agents ready to deal with the call when it connected to each of us.

This number calls me every day but fortunately I have an answerphone and as soon as they hear the recorded message they hang up.Must be a scam. Don't trust them.
