- stevenHad a phonecall today from an indian male claiming to be from i-global. He said that they were a company licenced by microsoft and that my computer was infected by viruses. When I informed him that my virus protection was up to date he said that it would not protect me from these viruses. When I questioned him further he put me onto a manager who was equally as pushy.
They wanted me to go onto internet explorer and type in a site specified by them, which I refused because I was suspicious. Seems like a con to me!!- Caller: i-global
- suzieHad a call today from an asian male who said he was from iglobal and in partnership with microsoft. Was told i had the zeus virus on my computer (this is the current virus that i had heard about). I was told to log on to iglobals site and a technician would go through everything with me. Fat chance. I told him i would have to do some checking of my own on iglobal. Got to say he was very persistent on the phone but got off quick when i said that.
- Caller: iGlobal
- SuzieHad a call from a woman on this number saying the usual claptrap about my PC spreading viruses. I asked them my router name and that threw them. I asked where they were calling from. She said India. Strange as she had a nigerian accent with poor english. I was quite polite and said it was a scam and put the phone down. It's a shame that we no longer have the option of leaving the phone off the hook, building up their bill. However I am sure they are piggy backing someone's legitimate phone number. Any one have any ideas how we can retaliate??

- SamiaI have been getting these calls recently also, I have got in touch with Ofcom, and the Telephone preference service (whom I have been opted out with for a good while), and complained about them.
Case is in their hands.
I suggest that everyone complains to them via the Ofcom website - Telephone preference service and then they will have the ability to do something!- Call type: Telemarketer
- Lily PondI have had this today. Answered phone and got 'goodbye'.
Also, had Asian male teling me I have a virus and he would fix it. All I had to do was press something on my computer and leave it to him.
a) I couldn't understand what he was telling me to do.
b) The only person I trust to fix my computer is my son.- Caller: not known
- bayshotjust had a call from this number, no-one spoke, then just disconnected.
I'm also getting 3-4 call daily from a company (number withheld) who claim to be Microsoft. I keep telling them to remove my name from their list, but they just cut me off.
Today I decided to investigate further. They said I have multiple viruses on my computer on my Microsoft operating system. When I questioned which operating system I was using, they got it completely wrong!
When I asked for a phone number to call to complain to Microsoft, they gave me 0121 322 7280 (Birmingham code but number is not operational). Then I asked for the address and they gave me a Belfast address! After questioning, I was told the Birmingham number wrong and given a Belfast one.
When I asked for the name of someone to speak to, I was given a name, George Wood and email address george.wood78@live.com.
So I then asked how come he hasn't got a microsoft email address if he's employed by them. At this point the caller, who had an Indian / Asian accent but said his name was Dave Williams (does anyone know any Asians with such a Western name?), must have realised he wasn't speaking to a gullible idiot who would grant him unreserved remote access to my computer, and just put the phone down on me.
How can I stop these calls? Any advice gratefully received.- Caller: Claim to be Microsoft
- Che'Hi, I have recieved the same call from this number at 16.54 today, I seem to get these call's often around this time, so before I picked up I was naturally suspicious.
I picked up paused a moment and then said hello, there was a muffled "hello", which did indeed sound Indian and was most definatly male. I paused for several seconds and could hear background noise, something like a tv, and then said "hello" again, at this point the caller hung up.
I will not be resting on my laurels and wondering what can or should be done, but in light of others experiences of this number will be going straight to the Ofcom site to lodge a complaint.- Caller: Unsure
- geoffi have had many of these calls. some silent and automated msg then says goodbye and cuts off. other calls i have had from them a bloke goes on about my computer having a virus and i needed to go to a web site to down load some programme to allow him access to my computer to allow him to fix it! little did he know that i am quite knowledgeable on computers and i knew for a fact i didnt have a virus on my computer, so on challanging him on the issue he became irate as he was unable to answer computer related questions that a novis would know, he replied and called me a mother fcuker and hund hung up!!
- Cass replies to HelenThis number has phoned twice today, once completely silent but clogged up the line for a good minute because whoever it was didn't hang up. Second time, a recorded voice just said "Goodbye"
- fredhad two of these calls today. first asked for us by surname, second just said goodbye. it sounded like an indian man both times.
- TracyI have received a call from this number twice in the at two months. They claim to be a registered Microsoft Partner who needs to clean your computer because it is sending out viruses to the internet. They ask for payment and supposedly offer to remotely clean your computer. This began in the UK and was reported in the news there and via other companies like Sophos. The threaten to cut off your internet access however, the only companies I know that do this are your local service providers and only when its proven that you are spamming or have a bad virus but even they tell you to call a local company to have it taken care of. Many people who are not aware of these types of scams pay for these fake services.
I tried to call the number back today and it just rings. I suspect they are using a spoofing card which allows them to call from any number but have it appear as another number which may be perfectly legitimate.
I will be writing more about it on my facebook business page. Look up Coast Computer Doctors to read blogs and other information about the latest scams. No obligation or payment required and you don't have to become a fan to read it- Caller: iGlogbal
- Alan HuntKeep getting calls from this number after a few seconds a recorded message says goodbye.
Very annoying. I thought we have opted out of this type of call.- Caller: No name given
- Isaac HuntI'll just tell them "Good" - "I hope it infects your system badly enough to shut down your outgoing calls!" :)
- maureen HuntI have had three calls today - the first saying he was from microsoft and I hung up the last two have just had an automated "goodbye"
- Caller: don't know
- Dave RI had these people call me once on Tuesday, where i went along with it for a while, then told them they're talking [***] and hung up.
On Thursday they called back and I said to them they need to stop calling this number as it's on TPS and I will not fall for their scam (I work as an IT consultant). When i told them that I work in the industry he got very aggressive and started to call me names and say 'Who made you King? Are you the king of England then?'. I was furious but tried to say that I know of iGlobal and I would be reporting them, to which he said ' I'm going to call back and if you're a man, you'll pick it up' then he hung up!!!
He called back straight away, i answered and said to him that I'll go along with his little plan for a bit. He said i have a virus etc but when i asked what PC i have, he said ' A windows one'! After saying 99% of them are mate, what version of Windows is it, he ignored me and just started saying i know where you live etc...very threatening.
In the end i hung up and he tried calling back a minute later, but i let it go and he didn't leav a message. These people nned to be shut down somehow, I was so angry!!- Caller: iGlogabl
