- AndyEI have received two robot voice calls in two days leaving a message on my answering machine telling me my internet connection would be disabled in 24 hours as my IP address was compromised in several countries. Asked me to press 1 to be connected to a technician. The first call was from a “Private Number, the second from “01234567890”. This instance is just one of the more comical calls that I regularly receive from scammers wanting to “fix up my computer”, “provide free light bulbs”, “provide cheaper electricity”, etc, etc, etc.
Evidently ACMA’s historical attempt to inhibit marketing and spam calls by providing a ‘Do Not Call Register’ worked to some extent last decade, but the scamming operatives have moved on with technology and something more high tech needs to be done to protect the vulnerable people in Australian society.
Aside from the obvious fact that these types of scamming calls are extreme annoying. The big question is, what are the telecommunications companies, TELSTRA, OPTUS, VODAFONE, etc and the ACMA collectively doing about tracking down the source of the spammers and/or blocking this crap from entering the Australian telecommunications network in the first place?- Caller: 01234567890

- EMFseveral phone calls from this number until I blocked it. ...it is a scam. return call says it is non existing. The worse thing occurred today on my Patient portal of "HELLOwell"...this number popped up in the space for my phone number, was shown and accepted in place of my own phone number, and now has access to my medical records. IT IS A SCAM.

- B-EdwardsThis is an impossible sequential number that in 15 years no one seems to have noticed. Sequential numbers are a lure to a bring in the easily scammed. Works like a charm.
The number is spoofed by many crooks over the years to hide location and bury possible connections to the callers name.- Caller: Various
