Gosh there are some paranoid people on here, aren't there?

Two things tell you it's not likely to be a scam: first their number is visible, and second they use your full name in the automated message ("This is a call from Egg Card Security for Mr Fred Bloggs")

Have got a call from Egg security a couple of times before in the past.  This time the called 3 times, first 2 times hidden number and left blank voicemail.  Third time they left an automated message saying it was Egg Security enquiring about recent transactions and call them back on 01332633863.  I immediately checked Egg Online and found 2 transactions which were fraudulent.

The reason why they tend not to leave voicemail is data protection and also if your partner/spouse/etc does not know you have this credit card ;)

At the end of the day, for the small hassle of hidden callers to stop fraudulent transactions, it's worth it.

Forgot to add, time of call to Egg Security 18:39 Saturday.  I got straight through to a female agent.  She did say the security team are closed, but she was very helpful and friendly and dealt with the matter for me :)

rang me twice today, automated message asking me to press a button to continue then it cut off. Third time I rang the number from a landline to see if it was a fraud and they asked me to confirm two payments of £7 and £5. Until the next time . . . . . . .

Was called today on mobile. Ignored call as I didn't know the number. Googled the number, found this site. As already stated it was Egg security who got me to confirm a large transaction that I had just put through. Well done Egg!! Have now saved number in contacts.
Why are there always a few who don't want to be protected? (From themselves perhaps?)

I had 3 calls to my mobile from this number(01332633863)today and one blank voicemail message.  I called them back from a land line and it was Egg Security.....I don't have an Egg Account and never have had one.
The woman I spoke to gave her name and asked what my mobile number was.  Seeing as how they have it already I told her.  She asked if I was Chris R****....I'm not.  She said that they obviously had an incorrect number for one of their customers and would remove my number from their database.
I suppose if it means that I don't get any more calls it was worth it.

This is egg and a great service!

If you think about the ten of thousands even millions of customers they have and how many 'suspicious' transactions their system flags each day if you had to wait for a call centre agent to call you back the fraudster's could be at your limit by then.

I would say its harder to impersonate this automated service than it is to just phone someone and pretend to be from egg.

Having worked in a banking role and seen what the fraudster's get away with I'm happy if it means a slight inconvenience to myself to stop the slimy scum bag low life's getting away with £1000's of goods time and time again.

Am I the only one who finds these tiresome, nannying calls irritating???  I can spend a few £k in a single transaction and they don't flinch, but fill my car up with petrol and I get daily phone calls with no message.

Its a legit call - its Egg authorising a transaction on your card. I had the same problem when they rang me I hit any number the call ended but I rang back and authorising the transaction with them took literally a minute!

Its an utter pain in the [***], everytime the card is used they start calling.  I've got two calls on my phone now. The card has a horrific interest rate and the terms suck, this is just a reminder to get a new card and get shot of these rip off bozos.

they keep call me and automat says: "Hello, this is an important call from egg, please select any number to continue"

Funny I do not have any credit card with them, just car insurance which I called today but they say they know nothing about it

I"ve had this before, but the call wasn't from this number, it was a an 0870 type number.  I agree it's a good service, but what I don't like is that they called me 3 times and left no message, not even a blank voicemail, so there was nothing to identify them.  Then when you call back they ask for virtually all your log in details - I'm cautious of giving these out as I know people who have been scammed in this way in the past.  When I asked for confirmation of who they were, all I was told was call the number on the back of your card.  I asked for the name of the person I was speaking to and a way of identifying him and he said Muhammad in security and wouldn't give any other info.  Nice idea in theory but incredibly poorly executed.

This number called a few times today while I was out. When I was here to answer it was indeed egg credit card asking me to confirm three recent slightly unusual but genuine transactions. Well done egg.

Just had two calls from this number in the space of ten minutes. I think I know why, but it would be good if there was a voice at the end of the phone...

A message from Egg security was left for me last night, I called this morning to confirm that the transactions were mine and they have lifted the block on the card.
I'm very glad they do this as it has been used fraudulently before. I think it was triggered because they were getting small amounts through from Amazon rather then the total.

This is a great service and definitely worth having.  It may seem irritating when the transactions are genuine, but you'll be grateful when Egg actually identify fraudulent activity on your card.
Just save the number in your phone and you won't need to worry about whether it is genuine in future.
If you check out their website though you can see they only ask for your DOB, not your card details. You can also opt out of the service altogether.
Nice one Egg. This is the best service I have experienced with a credit card company.

I have had several calls from this number today and thought it was a scam. As it is an internet account they should at least email or message in addition to the call (I checked my account and email to try to confirm if the calls were legit). I have told them that an automated message is not an acceptable way to contact me as it definitly seemed a bit dodgy. I am pleased they seem to be checking up on transactions but they should do this in a more customer friendly and genuine way.

It's Egg, they've called me a couple of times both times after I've given the credit card a battering.

Both times I've hung up and called them back on the contact numbers on their website and it's been sorted straight away.
