- Guy HussarI was called from this number at 20:29 on Tuesday, 18th August 2009, by a woman asking for someone whom I had no knowledge of; I told her.
She then had the temerity to ask who I was. I told her, firmly but courteously, that that was none of her business.
She then made threats, along the lines that I would continue to be harassed if I did not tell her.
At that point I hung up.
Can't OFCOM do something about this? - A Non E MouseMuch activity on the Consumer Action Group website at present, at the dishonesty and numerous illegalities practiced by this company.
Refer to http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bailiffs-sheriff-officers/ for much more info.
Pay particular attention to the threads entitled 'Newlyn impersonating a bailiff, supported by Ealing Police, forced to pay', and also 'Newlyn Smashed Up Car Window While My Girlfriend Was In It After Refusing Part Payment Of £1000 In Police Presence !!!!'.
Both threads will tell you all you need to know about this company, which sorely needs to be put out of business. - A Non E Mouse| 2 replieshttp://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/bailiffs-sheriff-officers/240491-whats-most-i-could-2.html
- MICHELLE P replies to A Non E Mouse| 1 replyI have been landed witha bill for an unpaid parking ticket my daughter got last year, however, they have advised that the baliff knocked at my door on 3 occasions, a complete lie, the first date they said they knocked i was at home packing to go on holiday the next day, the second time, my parents were at home all day and nobody knocked, the third occassion I was off sick from work needing to be no further than a few yards from the toilet so I know nobody knocked that day. They state that a letter was left each time the Balliff called, if they had have done I would not have ignored the letters I would have acted on them, each time the Balliff calls, the costs escalate. The trouble is I cannot prove that they did not call and my letters of complaint are always answered the same way, prove we didn't call and we might be able to do something about it. They are rude and obnoxious and my daughter keeps getting text messages threatening the Baliffs are calling the next day. Is there anything that can be done to not have to pay them?
- DeeLike Paul,
I made arrangements from November 2009 to pay £200 a month to clear my council tax bill - thanks to croydon council who messed up my council tax; anyway i informed newlyn that April 2010 i would have to reduce my payment to £80 a month - which is still a lot considering i have other bills to pay; newlyn staff was so rude that i ended up hanging up the phone, they were not understanding as far as she was concern i could not reduce my payment. i sought legal advise and was told that the offer i had made was reasonable. Newlyn staff are so rude, they need to be sent on a people skills course. - hannah| 1 replyi have today had my car seized by this company. They had no proper id and looked very shifty so i called the police.. but nothing was done.. all over a parking ticket that wasn't mine.. the car that they removed was a finance vehicle is there anything i can do...HELP...PLEASE ANY 1... and i have six days or they are going to sell my car..

- anon replies to hannahin this instance the bailiff probably went by the "ignorance is bliss" technique. most police are not educated enough to argue what the bailiff is doing as they have a lot of official looking documents that would confuse most people.
A. THE BAILIFF CAN NOT LEGALLY SELL ANY VEHICLE UNDER A FINANCE OR HIRE PURCHASE AGREEMENT AS IT DOESNT BELONG TO THE DEBTOR WHO WAS ISSUED THETICKET ORIGINALLY.
B. AS IN "A" THE BAILIFF CAN NOT SELL YOUR VEHICLE AS LONG AS IT WAS CORRECTLY INSURED AND THE LOG BOOK IS IN YOUR NAME BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS CLAMPED OR REMOVED. - anon replies to MICHELLE Pyou're right, you can't prove that the bailiff didnt attend. so pick holes in what they are saying. the bailiff is only allowed to attend a maximum of once per week so first of all the fee that was incurred the day after the first visit needs to be removed. ask them for a copy of the fees and dates incurred on.
hope this helps - Eve| 1 replyI keep getting calls from this number but as with others there is no one there when i answer. Why do they call and say nothing, I dont think I owe them money but I think my husband does and I remeber that they were chasing him for a parking ticket that they had put up £600 with charges, they clamped his car so he borrowed money to pay it, and they were still chasing him for the money 3 months after he paid it, also when he asked for a receipt they never sent him one. They are definately a bit doddgy!!!

- Pete TwistGot this text message exactly as writen here: "Please RETUEN HOME at once, BAILIFF due at your door to REMOVE GOODS, call 01634 633 001 now"
I was actually at home then but they never showed up.Wasn't bothered because I knew they're chasing the wrong person & they've been told. - tasha replies to Paul| 1 replyi to have been dealing with this company for a number of years now they are indeed the most rude and dispicable people ive ever come in contact with three weeks ago they told me they want nearly three hundred pounds a month my husband and i are on incapacity benefit and he gets low rate dla I told them that i didnt think we could afford that but i would talk to my husband and let them know as soon as possible last week i rung them as the only way we could work it out was to use husbands DLA money plus money for benefits they told me i was in arrears with the agreement and my file had now been passed to the bailiffs i said i had not agreed to a arrangment and the bloke had the Ghoal to turn round and say that it said on the computor i hadnt agreed but i was behind anyway and that basiclly ill have the Bailiffs on my doorstep any day, i rung them again today and said that i had contacted there bailiff and left a message on friday and not heard back and now there saying that my council (barnet) want it paid off in three months which means i would have to pay nearly six hundred pounds a month i said too them what are my options and the girl turned round and said that i either let them come in to my home(makes me feel so sick just thinking about it) or pay it in one go i asked what if i dont have anything of value which i actually dont ( whole nother storie) and cant pay in one she said the likly hood would be a jail sentance and then i would still have to pay it when i come out
From what i have been told and what i can gather although they are based in northampton they operate all over the country i live in north london and Barnet Council use them but yes i do agree with the general consence they are rude arrogent and dispicable - anon replies to Evein response to your message, the reason you here nothing when you pick the phone is because they use an automated dialling system. this mean a machine will generate the calls even if there is no one ready to speak to when you answer. it is intended to get you to call back or find out when the best time to call you is.
in you circumstance if your husband had paid it they wouldn't still chase you. he may have another ticket or the only other thing i can think of is that your husband has paid the original amount e.g 30-60ish and Newlyn still want to chase you for their fees which there is no legal obligation to pay these although they will try any tactic to get it from you e.g calls, scary texts or letters. however, they know that they are not allowed to attend your property or clamp your vehicle if it is just their fees outstanding.
hope this helps. - anon replies to tashain response to your message. most of the people are nice, hard-working people and just like any other person. what is reflected in the conversations you have with them is how they have been taught to speak to people by the management. they realise that the targets are impossible i.e getting someone who is on benefits to pay £600 a month....no chance is there....
they work mainly in and around London, but do also deal with liverpool and bournemouth for instance.
Barnet council will say to Newlyn they would like it to be paid off in 3 months, but with any file if you explain to them that you are on benefits and give details of this i'm sure you can wind up with a 12 month arrangement. it's and easy adjustment to give you that sort of arrangement.
i know it's not ideal, but for the meantime if a bailiff attends then refuse to let him in until this is resolved as you are well within your rights to do so.
it is laughable that they still threaten jail as this is only if you outright refuse to pay which by what you've said is not the case and you have been trying to organise payment....record your phone call to them next time and say you are doing this. that way they should stick to the rules....
hope this helps - Brian MoreauThis company add on charges for bailiff visits that do not take place.
On day I received 3 SMS messages that a bailiff would first call today, secondly within the hour and an hour later within the hour.
I was home and nobody called.
They are in my view adding on fraudulent charges.- Caller: Newlyn

- scooby3 replies to Brian MoreauThe best action to take against this company, is if u owe outstanding council tax, talk to your local council first and try to make an arrangement with them , I ended up paying 600 pound 1 month and 216 the following month, but they wanted 401.68 a month which is bascially as much as my mortgage payment! a complete joke! when i asked them to reduce it they said No as my council wanted it paid up in three months! when i spoke directly to my council this was not the case out ALL!! So luckly my council recalled it and im paying them back now wot i can afford per month, I also had letters and final demands cuming throu, They r so unreasonable, and just will not listen, who can afford 600 pound a month unless yr earning a good salary, They r threating and should be reported! .
- MathildaI recieved from Newlyn a Removal Notice for a parking fine to pay ca £540.We phoned the Council because we were not aware about the fine which was 6 months ago. After several phone calls to the Council and the Court they all assured us that the PCN no. does not exist! STLL Newlyn send us Removal Notices. The first one was addressed to my name and the other one was addressed to the occupier. No one at the Council can help me because I can not produce the right Ref.and there is no trace of the PCN no. I'm sure Newlyn would be the only one to stop this nightmare of mine if i would pay the demanded money! MEANWHILE I have to hide behind the curtains, hide my car and take the bus until resolved! Is there any suggestion to this problem which is not my fault. AND is there any way for a compensation claim for the stress they cause me.Is there any doctor who could refer me to a mental unit?
