Who are they? Never heard of them

I had a call this morning from Johnathan Quinn at EBs marketing ( he said he was calling from google), they promised me I will be on the first page of google for 1 months , took my card details etc. Unfortunately, I didn't realise it was a Scam until I received an invoice from  EBS marketing not Google as they described themselves. I'm thinking off cancelling my card so they won't charge me again. Please advise. The number that they called from is 01612122315 and 01612122352. Someone must stop this!!!

Took £180 off my credit card

I got a call from Tom at EBS marketing, they were going to sell me a one off test advertising campaign for one month tom said and it would get us loads of customers and sales.
what a blatent lie. for a start they are not with google as tom had said they were and the advert for december went out in may. now they took 250.00 from me in december the advert they made was worse than mine and going to the same demographic, so after I had had a go at them they changed it but still the ad was not put out until may.
the advert did not get one response I then got an email saying they had carried the campaign on for another month and that I owed them another 199. plus vat. i rang furious and said no way that tyhe campaing was absolute rubbish nd that I had been mis sold. they said they would ring back they,  never did. the reason why they did not was because they had recorded my card details when i paid the first time and they put the charge through again on my card.
when i rang about this they said look at your contract because you did not reply to us 3 days before the contract ran out we can carry it on for another month and if you eant to cancel now in the third month you need to give us 30 days notice so in all you now owe two more months money at 250.00 per time.

you can imagine i was not impressed with them at all at this point and told them I would be seeking legal advice.

steer well clear of EBS Marketing they are scammers of the worst kind, you get no advice or marketing from them at all just invoices..

ebs marketing are the biggest load of crooks in manchester and are probably laughing all the way to the bank with our hard earned money somthing needs to be done about them.

why dont you do the same and contact your trading standards office.

definatley cancel your card I had to because they recorded all my details and put them through on month two they now want 30 days to cancel the agreement after month three, so that will be almost 1000.00 they would have put through if i had not canceled my card...after month two

ebs marketing are nothing but a load of scammers

I have been called last week by EBS Marketing and they were on the phone trying to convince to buy a package for facebook advert which will increase my facebook page likes by 20000 ppl.
I have agreed with them to buy the package but these 20000 ppl to be forwarded to my website and get more visitors than getting more likes so my sales can go up!!
I paid £160 and placed the order with them, after 5 days of launching the Ad there was only 5 ppl a day visiting my site!! nothing been changed?! I called them several times and they told me that my account manager was off then they promissed to ask another account manager to call me back... there was no call back.
I emailed them many times and after 4 days i got an answer from my account manager (Paul) saying no the offer is actually your Ad to be viewed by 20000 ppl but not visiting your site??? it means the Ad will appear for 20000 ppl but if they dont click in it it you get nothing but still counted.
However i said to him eventhough if we follow your last logic -which was not explained like this before- I see no change in my website stats, i still have the same number of traffic as before so what this add is doing?

I told him that i am not happy with their service and the offer as it seems to be a scam and need a refund then he said too late to refund you.. I only placed the order last week and i have been calling them every single day to see why my traffic is not increaseing and that Paul was on holiday... Can you please help me to get my money back and tell me how can i get them refund my money???
I have just opened this business and making no sales yet and paying them £160 was to make my business go forward and not get scammed :(

EBS called claiming to be Google I paid £180.00 and only when I checked my account realized it was a different company, called first thing to get my card refunded to speak with a arrogant cocky manager who said there was nothing I could do to touch them well this is the start no one takes, steals my hard earned money and gets away with it so this is the start!

Not once in the call did the sales girl say she was calling from EBS! If they are so good at what they do why do they need to lie who they are!

Please do cancel your card that you gave them.  they are still hassling me well over a year since I had the same type of problem as you except my was for an online google ad.  Be aware that they follow up with threatening letters to take you to court.  Record Delivery all correspondence to them.  I have reported them a year ago to CAB and Trading Standards.  No-one seems to be able to shut them down.  Cancel everything. E-mail them, Write recorded delivery to them, tell them on the phone and record the call.  Get out of it.

EBS- absolute scam, do NOT give out bank details/payments. Its like paying for thin air. Claimed they worked with FB and proceeds went to FB. Report to Manchester police and fraud online team


There has to be a way of shutting them down

This company has also  taken £840 out of our company accounts. I have just lodged a small claim in court against them. I will contact my bank and ask them not to make any payments to this company. Thanks for the suggestion I will also contact Manchester police

why dont we all contact watchdog and tell them then they will be plastered all over the tv and hopefully lots of other people will not get scammed...

I am having a problem with them too.  

Be careful when they call you, they have this technique of ringing and then asking questions.  Half way through the call they will say they forgot to mention they are recording the call - is that OK?  (I believe they plan to get you heated up and then when you are heated tell you they forgot to tell you it is an on the record call.  It is difficult at such a point to stop what has started, and they are fishing for your mistakes)

My hunch is that you are actually being cross examined by a lawyer who is fishing for ways of locking you in to the deal.  They like to record calls and then make claims that you are said this or that on the record.  So when they do this be firm and tell them the call is off the record.and not to be recorded.

They told me in their opening message on my facebook page that they work closely with Vauxhall, Sky and Peugeot preparing facebook adverts.    When they approached me they made out to be very closely connected to Facebook, I will not say online what my memory of the conversation was.

You can help me by sending me an email at Julian (at) hisprivatemail.com  - what I want to know is what claims they made in writing - IE on your facebook page.

Separately I want to know what they said verbally -  you must only write what you are willing to swear happened.  No exaggerations or fantasies please.

I want to know which well known brands they are using to gain your confidence.

We to collect this information, along with the names and addresses of the people who feel they have been victims of miss selling.

Lets do this cautiously and sensibly.  The evidence, if it is clean and un-exaggerated, will tell a story.

So my wife gets a call today from these scum bags, claiming to be 'Google'. They tell her that as she has a small business, contemporary Jewellery that she has been selelcted by google (due to the key words and links in her site). They tell her that they have 2 other companies that they have in mind if she doesn't go ahead or they will sell to a 'large company'. What they claim to be offering is a listing in the top 6 places of google for 30 days but this could be spread out over any time, e.g. once a week for 30 weeks. They called her back despite her telling them she would call them in 30 mins or so as she was having lunch with our baby. They called twice 5mins from each other. They told her that they couldn't wait too long. The call girl was Lucy Jones. She is a lier.

So she (my wife) calls me and asks me my opinion. I'm suspicious but ask her to ask if they ARE google. She does and they say YES and even send her an email with the google logo. They never mentioned that they are in fact EBS. She pays £150 and when receives the confirmation email it's says 'EBS'. I see this email and call them straight away. I ask for a refund. They say they will check their phone recording to hear whether my wife was lied to and call me back. They don't, so I call them again. They then tell me that the payment has already gone through and they cannot refund.... But I'm on the phone, on my mobile, to the bank and they are telling me that the payment is pending. So they are lying to me again!

I speak to a few, rather aggressive, people there. I ask them what it feels like to lie to people so a business can make a few quid. I tell them that I will report them for fraud and misselling. I am so furious that they are allowed to do business in this way. They need to be stopped. I am to call the police and Manchester trading standard tomorrow. They bank are paying her back but only as this is being looked into by Barcley's fraud department.

Felt so angry about all this that my evening 5-a-side team stuffed top of the table 11-0 and I hit home 6. Every cloud eh?

FAISAL – FOR 20MINUTES HES ON THE PHONE TO ME, TRYING TO MAKE PERSONAL RAPOR WITH ME BY LISTENING TO WHAT HE CAN HEAR IN MY BACKGROUND AND ASKING ME QUESTIONS ABOUT IT. HE THEN STARTS TO SELL ME THE ADVERT CAMPAIGN, AND IM REALY NOT INTERESED AS I HAD ADVERTISED WITH GOOGLE FOR FIRST PAGE ADVERTS AND I WASNT IMPRESSED WITH THE RESULTS SO A SMALLER COMPANY EBS ARENT GOING TO ABLE TO DO MUCH. HE LITERALLY WOULDNT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER AND CONVIENCIE ME INTO BUYING THE ADVERT AS HE GUARANTEED RESULTS AND ALSO LEFT HIS PERSONAL PHONE NUMBER TO BE EXTRA ASSURED.

Nathan – does this guy even know what marketing means. he made me the most pathetic advert iv seen in my life. the wording sounded like 4 YEAR old boy wrote it.

THE SCAM: an email is sent to me at 09.55 stating the campaign is going live on 1st october. later on the same day at 12.59 a text message is sent stating the campaign goes live 6th october.

HOW THE SCAM WORKS: they state during the telesale conversation if u wish to cancel without further payments being deducted from your account you have to cancel within 30 days of the campaign going live.

When reading the perfomance report on 30 October – it was stated that the campaign went live on the 1st. However i called to cancel on 28 october – so whether the live date stated 1st october or 6th october i was still withing the 30 day live period.

get how the scam works? luckily for me I called within 30 days of both the so called live dates.

PAUL – he seems like the actual scam artist – hes so clever with the way he speaks. within his conversation he said ow please dont leave – dont judge the biggest marketing company in the uk from 2 people from our company who has over 800 workers. your advert i will reword and design myself, i will give you a full refund and giv you 30 days free la la la la la la up untill i here so i will giv you a special offer and giv u 7 days free with the 30 days more u stay with us…he changed his offer like 3 times already in his fast conversation.
I knew from there, everything he is saying are all words in return for my hard earnt money.

they took money from my account for the next month of advertisement whilst my details were with the cancellation team.

i didnt even receive any calls from the advert – how i no is because i got them to advertise my website and not facebook so if anyone called they would state unless i ask otherwise how and where they got my number from.so its a waste of money as well as space and time.

the worst of the situation is they are so hard to get hold of. iv been trying to cancel since 28 October – its now 7 November and neither have i been sent an email confirmation of cancellation or been refunded for the money they took.
