They rang this morning and asked for me by name. The (British-sounding) caller sounded most reasonable when I said I was on TPS and I asked him to get his company to update its records and not to ring again, and the call ended amicably without me saying who I was. The earlier post about someone at the company seeing TPS as a waste of time (let alone the rude explanation of what it might stand for) and calling people who use it "sad losers" sounds like a different company lol.

But how is it that, when I report a company to TPS, they ALWAYS have the name in their drop-down list ALREADY facepalm?

These people have phoned me repeatedly - twice in one day once even though they denied they'd spoken to me earlier. We are on TPS so is very annoying. They are a pain- even tried to claim that someone that lived here once made an inquiry (we haven't)!

I get phone calls regulary from this number and they always ask for a Mr Moran today however it was for Mrs Moran I don'tknow who they are, but it is very annoying as I am disabled and it is a bit of a struggle to get to the phone and most annoying when it is a waste of energy!!

Called from this number today went to ansafone, no msg left

This bunch called 17.4.12 @ 12.26 trying to sell insulation.
Admitted their name but refused to give correct number - said it was 0800 when it was the above.
Told them they were rining ExD number and on TPS and they would be reported.
Woman refused to give her name.

These so -called B$%££RDS called today did not leave a message as my TRUE CALL machine stopped them dead in their tracks.

If by previous calls they are not a genuine company as they DO NOT supply a name that can be tracked PLUS having worked at the Home Office you can ask them - if you let them - for their company's registration number at companies house London - if genuine you can check - else tell them you are not interested and not to call back else you will be taking them to court for £50K for annoying you if they presist!

Telephone companies do nothing they are just happy to take the money for any calls, Telephone preference (TPS) are a waste of time as well as the Police who do nothing as well!

Okay not a cheap machine is the TRUE CALL but has reduced calls from three to seven a day to practically nothing - one every week now. It allows you to decide who to accept (see their web-site for demostration) and then can be blocked - ONLY TRUE genuine calls get through.

As above you can pay to stop these calls but NOTHING much gets done until this unit was brought into action.

These scammers called me today and didn't bother to say anything when I picked up the phone though there was some yakking going on in the background.

I'm sick fed up of these sleazy little crooks, and sick fed up of the fact that TPS can't be bothered to do anything about all these nuisances who blithely ignore all telemarketing codes of conduct.

Looong delay and then half asleep sounding person asking for Mrs Wright.

We are a business but have gleaned from previous nuisance and sales calls that our number used to belong to a Mr Wright from Aston Fields.

I said we were a business and didn't have anyone by that name and she apologised and hung up. At least a little more polite than some but still we are on the TPS for what thats worth, very little apparently.

This number called at 9.30 today.  As I'm sick of being marketed despite being registered with TPS I now always let calls go to voicemail.  If it's people who REALLY want to speak to us (friends etc) then they will usually leave a message and I will pick up. No message then I ignore it as obvious telemarketing.  Curious to know the caller I googled the number and OMG this site sprang up.  So they are obviously annoying a lot of people out there.  I never ring anonymous callers back ever - if it's important and they really want to speak to us then they will ring again.

Had a call this morning (12.37) from them - didn't answer but looked up number first.  Had another call at 16.49 and knowing who it was picked up the phone and said "Tameside Insulation?" - this confused the guy who began by saying "yes - have we phoned you before?" I said yes and that they must have the number from an old list.  He wanted to check the address but I pointed out it was the phone number that was important as it is listed on TPS.  He said the IT department would remove the number from their predictive dialling list. (Do insulation companies have IT departments?) I asked where the list came from; he told me it was from the Energy Trust (a Gov backed Company) who noted that my apparent address had not applied for any grants for insulation.

I've had 4 phone calls from this number in the last 4 weeks or so.  Each time they ask for Mrs Cross and today they asked if the phone was at Tamworth Road.

Today I asked them to take my phone number off their database only for them to hang up on me - how rude!

I phoned the number back, using 141 first so that they couldn't identify my mobile phone number, with the intention of asking for someone senior to ensure that my phone number does get taken off their database.  The automated response said I was being transferred to extension 5000.  Said extension rang a few times and then cut off.  I'm guessing it does this because I hid my number.

This number definitely belongs to Tameside Insulation because that was announced on the automated response.

Just rang me today, rang them back and when they answered I didn't speak for a while and then informed them this is what it sounds like when they call me and hung up!

Just had a call today from 0161 3372280 on my home phone number which is not listed in any phone book because we are ex directory how the hell do they get the number

Got another call from them, this time called them back and requested them to remive my number form their call list, lets see what happens next

I have to agree with you. The TRUE CALL is not cheap. In fact the CPR call blocker is cheaper and works just as well..........that's why I bought one! TPS is useless, I could almost believe that these scamster companies actually use the TPS caller list as their database - presumably it is available free.
