This was an unsolicited unnecessary call

I get call from this number daily around 6pm, its annoying!!

keep getting these calls from 01616010066, offering nonsense financial assistance to recover bank charges. says press nine to be removed from their list, this does nothing. says from 5 to find out if your eligable, this does nothing either (lucky for them because I was ready to let rip) absolute waste of time and energy but really annoying as I can't leave an unanswered phone (it's my work line). $£$£ers

Got a call, on an unused and unlisted telephone number, from 0161-601 0066 at 19:16 on Wednesday 23 March 2011 which gave me one choice: How to get a Refund from NatWest bank. As I don't bank with Natwest and never have, I pressed 5 to get my free refund.

The man said he was Mark Hayes and his number was 0844-351 1165. He said he would take my number off their "marketing database". He then terminated the call, so I never got my free Natwest refund :-(

Calling 0161-601 0066 results in a number unobtainable tone.

The people to blame for junk calls in the UK are the Direct Marketing Association Ltd who pressurised the Labour Government not to introduce legislation banning junk calls.  The DMA set-up their own Quango called the Telephone Preference Service which is a 100% private organisation. They appointed a Labour Lovey (Brenda Dean) to run it.

You might like to register your phone numbers - whether work or private - as "residential" on http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/ctps/number_type.html as not wanting junk calls.

I'm going to program my computer controlled phone to block the 0161 calls. Many of you can't do this. Perhaps you should email your Member of Parliament at

and ask for a law against the time wasting annoying junk calls.

01616010066 called a number of times - just quiet,no message.

If you have a BT phone line, you can pay for a service which bars the most recent incoming call from ever reaching you again (key in 14258**). This is very effective.

yeah its strange i get it every day around 6 as well its normally just before.

My wife answered the 'phone today, at around 3 p.m. She doesn't like talking to computers either !!!!
However, I've got a 'gizmo' that could p**s any cold caller off - I aim to use it soon !!

got this call today - no message - no-one there

Just had a call from this number, now are claiming to be the HPI HelpLine,

I asked where they were based, and she hung up.

Received several calls from this number and I am subscribed to the TPS as well

Silence on answering. Unable to return call - persistently!!

I just started getting these callers, twice in 30 minutes, they don't leave messages, I do think there is a relationship between this number and 08446883540 because if I dial 1471 I get the 0844 number as the last caller, but 14258 that I use to block unwanted numbers give the 0160 number

when i answered it was something on the line of miss sold PPI answering machine don't know if i've been charged for this call does anyone know if there is a charge?

this number as called me loads of times and i have told them not to ring so i have stopped answer my landline /but have found better solution i now have caller id on my phone so when this number comes up i just let it ring
