Got this phone call a few times over the last couple of weeks - didn't answer it. Am with 02 too - so obviously some data leak or something somewhere. Thanks for the info everyone!

THIS IS ILLEGAL - The phone I have is set up not to receive marketing calls or texts.  This number is using the O2 phone lists, so they must have got the list from O2.  O2 are breaking the law by letting these calls take place.

For those of us not so familiar with the law, could you please tell us exactly which law you are referring to.   Thank you.    Could you also mention which phone you are using so that I can buy one too.     Thank you.

had numerous calls from this number and they barely give me enough time to answer before they ring off,They have now been added to the blocked list.... if these are scammers claiming to be from 02 i wish 02 would get their finger out and do something about them

you can go on line to find mobile numbers and land line numbers to see who phoned you and where from

These are a pest    constant calls at least twice a day

Keep getting calls from this number and when I did finally answer all I got was what sounded like 'Aw ff...' before the phone was put down

Received a call on my mobile from 016119023758 12.30pm  2 Sept didn't get to phone in time to answer and as I did not recognise number ignored it & didn't contact them back. I recognised it was a Manchester area code, but I know no one in that area! Then around 6pm received further call from same number. I answered call this time. Guy with an accent said he was from O2 - gave name but mumbled so didn't really hear it. Said he was from O2 and was calling to  offer me a better monthly mobile phone package. Immediately suspicious as I am on pay as you go! I gave him NO details. He asked for my name. Didn't give it. I then ended the call by saying I was already happy with my current  package and didn't want to change it I hung up whilst he was continuing to talk!! .
His number was not a withheld one so able to check website to see various comments from other who have recently had these calls.
Perhaps his buzz from this is all the feedback on website he is now able to read! ?
Maybe his next ploy would be to obtain full name and perhaps even bank details to supposedly change a mobile package.
If I want to change my phone package, or indeed any service  I will instigate doing so - IGNOR ALL COLD CALLERS. There are some very 'clever' cold callers out there who are obtaining personal details and then obtain money from bank accounts.
Positive action:-  Suggest warning friends and family to ignore ALL cold calls  - especially a reminder to vulnerable/older people who maybe taken in by people they think are trustworthy & there to help them.    

I keep getting calls from 01619023758. Tjey say they are calling from O2 which I know as a fact is a lie!!!!

They say there from 02. Iv contacted o2 and been told there are not connected in any way. It is a fraud phishing scam and if you indulge them in a little chat so they think you have falling for it they will offer you a great new deal on the condition you sign up there and then and give your card details to them. At which point they clear your bank account out. Yet another case where the police if they could be bothered to do there job could quite easily shut the scam down, cant be that hard to trace where the landline number is based.

I've just had my first call from this number. I will not be answering it after reading this. But would like to know what they are after, are they asking for bank details?

in this day and age with our technology surely they can be blocked easy enough, I'm having to wait  for up to months. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. IT IS HARASSMENT!!

Blocked caller number after 4 calls a day over 2 week period.

Hi Margaret, if you send the number to 7726 (free to o2), o2 will reply and send number again, it goes onto the o2 spam list and o2 then deal with the actual company, i have had several numbers blocked this way

Calls from this number to my wife's mobile 3 times every day, to short a ring to answer in time. Damn nuisance. Can't block numbers on wife's nokia :(

My wife gets these calls almost daily always from the same phone-number, 01619023758, but they ring too short to answer in time. I am afraid O2 sells phone numbers to telemarketer and advertising companies.

never never never give your bank details on phone !!
