Why do they bother?

just received my 2nd meaningless call on my mobile, a number i dont give out. phoned 01792211846 back but the number seemed busy? i work nights at the moment so dont appreciate the wake up calls. yeah capitalism!

PPI scammers- 2 calls in the last couple of hours- enough to merit some retaliation.

This number continually rings me , It is PPI crap

I keep getting calls from this number including just now. I believe its McKenzie Hall Debt Agency, they do cold calling even if you owe them nothing, they just want an answer so they know your number is valid, do not answer otherwise their calls will become more regular!!

keep calling me then hanging up! Try to ring back and the number is busy! Its driving me mad, have a call at least once a day

May I suggest that you all stick Number Cop on your mobiles then you will never be bothered again by unwanted calls & texts

I have just had two calls this morning from this number. Fortunately I did not answer as i was away from phone but when i saw the no and didn`t recognise it I googled the area code to work out who it could be.
I know nobody in south wales so was perplexed.
When i googled the entire number I got this site and am pleased to offer my experience.
For what it`s worth I would suggest no answering unfamiliar numbers and googling to find out who is calling.
Needless to say, next time they ring I won`t answer either.
Maybe there could be a website for all these crap and useless numbers but someone with more techno skills than me would have to start it.

A quick call and drops off and is always busy, which h ever companies sell the database with personal mobile numbers to these thpe of companies should be struck off form operating as a legal company.

This number is an autodialer. If you answer it then it knows yours is a number in use. You then go onto the next stage which is more calls with a recorded message. Eventually you will receive calls from telesales pests.

So don't answer unknown numbers. Never call them back because that tells them that your number is a number in use.

With VoIP they could be calling from anyway in the world so don't be fooled by the Swansea area code.

If no one answered they would eventually give up this tactic. so DON'T ANSWER!!!!

Be careful out there.

Just got a call to my mobile from this number, didn't recognise it. It stopped rapidly because they would have got a foreign dialling tone as I live abroad but still have a British mobile. Didn't want to call an unknown number back as it costs me money, so googled it and found this. I've previously had texts from mobiles about PPI to my mobile, goodness knows where they got my number from as I don't usually give it out. Thanks to everyone who's written about this, as I don't want to be answering these calls, as even that costs money when abroad, and I'm expecting one or two legitimate important calls. Number now blocked on my mobile!

Just hangs up when I answer.  I called back but line busy.

Its one of those PPI have you claimed calls.  I just answered it and it was an automated service.

i just got a call from this number... checked on google and also saw this page... i have just tried calling them from the work phone and it comes up with a BT message saying number is busy and try again later... definately a scam and more than likely PPI fraud
