- Si KovitA search for UPI on the Ministry of Justice web site produces ZERO hits.
- StewartSpoke to someone called John Paul but he didn't sound like that was his real name. They rang me even though the number is ex directory and I am registered with the telephone preference service. I suspect they are selling a set of standard letters to claim back bank charges. My advice is not to buy it just do your own research online.

- SAMmy mum got called by UPI today to saying about bank charges, asking for how the name is printed on the card, the bank numbers, expiry dates etc, he sounded convincing so she told him how her name was printed and expiry dates, he then asked for the bank details which is when she realised something doesn't sound right. She said no im not giving them out and he became very demanding, she said no dont bother and they said we will ring back in which they did. She rang the number back and a indian man spoke on answer phone stating this is UPI, and a very blurry line. Have googled it for her which is when i found out it is fraud, she is reporting to the police. Better luck next time, get a honest job like the rest of us!

- andy16166got call from upi u.k on 17/8/09 at 15:00. same routine as above, vague promises of bank charge refunds, shady about costs, asain sounding operatives (2 of them, i was handed over to the 'supervisor' when i started asking awkward questions- gave me very english sounding name despite sounding very asain- not even anglo-asain). refused to give full name on my card and told them where to go. on the same subject, phone no; (0191)3780098 keep ringing. when i return call i get high pitch screaching. is there any way i can find out who they are without answering them?

- ANDREWJust had a call from UPI UK Ltd claiming I could claim money from 'illegal' bank charges.
When 'Kim Smith' (of Asian origin) who, already had a lot of information about me, asked for my long card number I made my excuses and got off the phone.
I called my bank and asked them for advice.
When Kim called back I informed her that I had been in touch with my bank and they informed me not to hand over any card details, she immediately hung up on me.
This woman even gave me this number to call to confirm her identity and the identity of the company she worked for 0179 281 3115.
The address given was
UPI UK Ltd
Universal House
213 Newroad

Be careful!!! This sounds like a scam!!!!!!!!- Caller: UPI UK LTD
- Michael GreenawayCalled and my husband answered the phone, he thought he was doing right and did not know it was a scam and gave his card details......

- MisfahThis company is not a scam, there selling technique and customer service skills seem to be lacking. They're actually offering a good service for those of us who have been over-charged by the bank. Paying the £50 for the letters was worth while for me as I received over £2000.

- terryi would like to point out, that the people who beleive this is genuine are obviously from the company, they rang my elderly nan a few days ago and havent stopped, so today i picked up the phone and told them were to shove it, i am pissed off with people taking advantage of the elderly especially when i live with my nan. if we keep getting this call, then it will be classed as harrasment which i beleive is against the law, its about time the police dealt with this properly.

- JAB itCall from Neil Lawson
How did he get my details
who do I complain to - KathHad a call from UPI from a lady with an accent She said that I had been overchared by my bank(she knew the name) for an amount of £550 and she could claim my money back at a cost of £49.99.
The frightening thing was they knew all my details, which bank it was and that my card was a Visa card. I became curious and when I asked them were they had got this information from they were very evasive and told me their company was covered by Data Protection and not to worry. I told her I would have to check with my bank at which point she put own the phone. - J BoothSomeone (Asian accent) phoned me giving this number, claiming to work for Universal Products International which he said was a law firm working for the Ministry of Justice. He called from 06456 821450. Then passed me to his supervisor John Cole, also Asian. He claimed there had been a court case pending about banks charging too much to customers and judgement had been given in the customers' favour, so that bank charges levied over the past six years could be refunded to me with interest. It was all very fishy. He tried to get my bank account number which I wouldn't give. He referred me to his website www.upiltd.co.uk which presumably is fake. It would have been quite plausible to someone not well experienced in business.

- julieHow surprising that roy wiliams is one of the only people that says this company is great. This is the name that was used to get my elderly neighbour to hand over her details theysaid they were from her bank. They are scamming scum preying on the vulnerability of elderly people. I am reporting this to trading standards if everyone does this they may disappear.

- dennis stokesthey led my elderly father inlaw bullying tactics i call it,i have been on the phone to a company i have dealing with my bank charges claims, and they were inundated with phone calls from people who had recieved scare tactics to extract there bank details out of them, not only that they use paypal which i recommed entirely, but with paypal you can store bank details on there indefinately so what to stop them taking money out when ever they want as and when they want,so the people that are dealing with my claims have reported them to trading standards and are going to let me know what the outcome is.i telephoned them today and said he was led into false sense of security and you used bully tactics to extract his bank details out of him as he is 81 yrs of age,and they said send the pack back to them and he will get a refund, but we are going to keep the recording of the conversation on our records for our defence, mmmm bit suspect to me.
- Ken MackenzieI have had a lot of calls from UPI. Despite my telling them not to call me again, they were very persistent and kept calling. However, they are calling from a call centre in India, so the calls must be expensive.
On the last occasion, I told them to 'Just hang on a minute', laid the phone down and went back to watching the TV News.
15 minutes later, they had hung up. I haven't heard from them again.- Caller: UPI
- TDE MaidenheadCaller John Smith (my [***]) of UPI Skewren SA10 6EW - from India not Wales.

Nibbles away whilst trying to be reassuring, at trying to access bank data.

He caimed he knew how much I was owed even before knowing my name and the banking organisation I am with.
Clearly a scammer trying to screw details out of me.
BEWARE - dannithey rang me up and filled me full of [***] about how mt card details would verify my address and nievely i did so they then put me through to another indian woman who was supposed to be a supervisor! and i have now realised it is a scam. if you look carfully on there website on t&cs it states" we can increase the charge without informing you!"i am now going to contact my bank and inform them aswell as the police!
