- Carrie| 1 replyThese people keep calling, and it's a real nuisance.
- Caller: British gas Homeserve
- Fiona replies to CarrieIn reply to Adam's message I have tried every approach that you have mentioned - being polite, not answering, answering and saying that I'm simply not interested, politely asking that we be removed from their list etc etc etc all to no avail unfortunately :(
- MickStalkers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't get away from them.- Caller: 01922 420057
- BevI used to have insurance with Homeserve. Then they kept phoning giving me offers, and I kept saying, it is all very well, giving me a years insurance for 1p, but when the following year comes it is 100.00 pounds - Anyway, they started phoning me again last year, so I cancelled all my insurance with them. Then one day, when I was expecting an important call, I picked up and it was them, so I told them never to ring my number again. It stopped for three months - now it has started again. I will just tell them to not ring me again, and this time, I will say, I will take it further. Not that they are worth it, but I might just have 3 more months without any more calls!
- Caller: Homeserve
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Bev replies to adamYep, sounds great, did that last November, this February starts up again - so what is the excuse this time? Sounds like they get a new list, and don't check it against the old one.
- adam| 1 replyask specifically to be suppressed from future telemarketing. asking to be removed from the list most people will outcome as an 'issue with product', which means you'll get recycled in 3 months (which really isn't that bad business practise considering people may be caught at the wrong time, or may finish existing contacts with other insurances). that being said, there are still some people that are bad at the job and outcome incorrectly or are failing to hit target and trying not to get in trouble for burning through too much data. you might be happy in knowing that the staff turnover is really high, so sooner or later the person whose fault that was will be out of a job
- fellow sufferer replies to adamBelieve you me Adam, these calls are basically "cold selling". If I want to know about any service / insurance / product or whatever then I will ring the company involved and make any relevant decisions at that point in time.
I am sorry but I do not believe in companies ringing people "ad hoc" in order to sell you something.
I may well be hosting a dinner evening or a social function having had a busy day and enjoying some relaxation - I have switched off - and the last thing I want/need is a cold seller on the phone.
I classify this as an invasion of my privacy and no - some companies do not remove you from their lists but continue calling at a later date.
Modern day technology certainly has its disadvantages. Why does Mr Public have to suffer because - maybe - somebody is trying to get their daily / weekly quotas up to scratch. - Jill| 1 replyI have had 4 calls this week to my xdirectory number, they ask to speak to me (I am at work 9-5) my partner answers and of course he is suspicious of this chap keep asking to speak to me and saying "dont worry I'll catch up with her!!! My partner is on nights this week so did not appreciate being woken up by cold callers who wont speak to him!
Jill, who isint having an affair with cold caller!!!!- Caller: 01922420057
- neyohave actually had a new number and as before calls from this number and they hang up when you answer very annoying and am now missing calls i want to take because i dont want to pick up the phone.

- fellow sufferer replies to JillSorry to hear of your personal problem with this company. Cold calling should be made an infringement of one's rights, especially - as in your case - they are dialling ex-Directory numbers as well. Just how do they get these numbers. What right does the Telephone company have to release this information?
Why go ex-D if you are still contactable, especially by these companies.
To digress, I had another one recently pushing their phone lines against B.T. After about 8 minutes when they started asking for bank account details which quote - - "would have been entered onto the Bank Mandate already for me to sign" - - and then getting a rather strong response from myself they finally hung up. But I have had this particular call 3 times now, so these companies cannot be "logging/checking" their call rotas - can they. - fellow sufferer replies to adamIn response to Adam 14 Feb, Firstly thank you for explaining, in detail, the process of these calls and, hopefully, a way to get these calls finished with.
But please dont get off hand with comments like - - - i find the comments on here to be quite ignorant - - -when , until your indepth response people do/did not know how to get these calls stopped.
Because somebody in their ivory tower office decided it would be a good idea to start coldselling , by phone, and therefore upsetting everbody's social lives (hence the messages on these pages), does not make this an acceptable process to all. Yes you are going to offend people by this method of selling and yes people will be "ignorant" of these procedures because they dont know the systems. - ninihomserve how do they get my number i am ex directory ring all the time next time think i will swear at them!!!
- Caller: homserve
- fellow suffererAmazing isnt it , talk of the devil and up he turns. Today I have just received some literature from my local water board (This is Yorkshire Water) advertising complete insurance package deals from - - wait for it - - Homeserve.
In order to talk to them direct I am advised to ring their free line on 0800 073 1247 .
Homeserve is a trading name of Homeserve Membership Ltd, Cable Drive, Walsall, WS2 7BN
Quoting from their forms - - Homeserve Membership Ltd will use your information and may pass it on to their service providers, their own group companies and Yorkshire Water's parent companies for the purpose of administering your policy - - - - - So it looks like your numbers may well be on some sort of general access directory for others to reference. Whats the use of going ex-directory etc if this service is still available within the trades.
Finally, and by reading their small print, Homeserve both arrange and administer the policies but a separate contract would be taken with Inter Partner Assistance SA for insurance.
It just gets deeper doesnt it !
Hopefully this info may give you some direction to get some closure to your problems, good luck :-) - DFHomeserve !!!!.... 4 requests to stop calling my x directroy number and they still ring up to 4 times a day over the last month ... Posted a previous complaint here suggesting WATCHDOG action but it was removed. ... AND .. reading previous posts it appears that the sad indoctrinated cold call sales team at Homesere are actually posting some pitiful defence replies about how they are a good company and why we should all stop complaining about serious and illegal harassment . ... Idiots!!!

- Anon agancy| 6 repliesTo "Adam", I have been investigating these complaints about Homeserve at a very high level now (involving ceo's and the water companies, media etc) for some time and am making good progress in getting some legal action initiated. I have determined that they do not get the telephone numbers from the water companies, despite Homeserve claiming they do. They might get other details from them but they obtain telephone numbers from "other" payable sources. Many of my contacts have requested on numerous occasions for Homeserve to stop this blatant criminal harassment without success and this evidence is being amassed. It pleases me no end to hear that there is a high turnover of staff as I cannot understand how a civilised human being would even perform such cruel nasty illegal practices of harassing people frequently night and day. Watch this space and keep an eye on the media. I cannot give more details at this time and unfortunately these things do take time but things are happening.

- DFTo follow on from my post of 3 days ago
Despite verbal assurances on my last 4 calls to Homserve that they would cease from ringing me up to 4 times a day the calls have continued .... I have never used or contacted Homeserve and have my telephone number x directory ... This type of systematic harrassment is totally illegal and beyond any form of defence.- Caller: HomeServe

- south coast crewthis number must be ringing me 4 or 5 times aday now, the misses answered it, big mistake as it only rang once a day before , dont answer it theres no one at the other end ever. this is the last time i take out insurence with HOME SERVE.
- Caller: HOME SERVE
- fellow sufferer replies to Anon agancywell commented and good luck with your actions. The fact this blog is now running to page 23 hilites the problem the public is facing with this kind of cold selling technique. Personally I have experienced the same problem from 08450724636 as well which I understand relates to the GAs Board somehow, but again the same technique and surprise surprise their blog is virtually identical to this one and running at page 19 already.
Hopefully you will succeed with your ongoing quest and by hitting one company the others may be affected as well.
