**An update on my post earlier today -

I sent an email to Homeserve Customer relations - copied to both David Evans and Richard Harpin. I sent it as high priority and with a read receipt request attached.

The email informed them that I am registered with the TPS and that I had complained to them today. I also went on to tell them that if they contacted me again I would complain to the ICO and to my MP.

At 16:46 I get notification that David Evans has read his email.

    At 18:49 they called AGAIN............

    Do these people EVER stop??

You are all entitled to "OPT OUT" from marketing activity calls. However you must speak to Homeserve in order for this request to be actioned. However, it can take approximately 4 weeks for the Opt out to become active.

The above post by "A" is complete bullsh*t !

If Homeserve were behaving in a professional manner they WOULD NOT be telephoning people who have registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

It is Homeserve that should take the initiative, NOT the receiver of the repeated unsolicited calls.

    Ron is right.

This is taken from the TPS website .....

"The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is the central opt out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to your home or mobile telephone numbers. It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have your consent to do so."

Therefore, if you are TPS registered and Homeserve call you (unless they have your consent) THEN THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW.

What a laugh. All you people who think you all know it all. Right here is some info for you. When you speak to your insurance company, your phone company or your water board, if you do not tell them not to pass on your details for marketting purposes then you will get these calls. Stop moaning about it as it is your own fault. Instead of sitting at your computer being really big and clever and acting tough ( which i wonder how many of you would have the guts to be in person cowards) call or write a letter to homeserve askimg them to remove you from marketting and they will. There simple, job done. All this time you have wasted on this forum and you could havealready sorted this out. Not like the guy who mentioned legal proceedings against homeserve. You have nothing to do them for moron.
Get a life and stop moaning all of you. Call homeserve sort it out then go and have drink and complain to somebody who cares.
And before anybody mentions me getting any calls. I dont get tham as unlike a lot of you it seems, i have enough common snese left in my head to tel all the companies i speak to not to pass my details on. Maybe you should do the same. You maybe able to smile one day then.
Get a life, stop moaning and find something better to do with your time.

Reference the above rather stupid post by "me".

    Just to repeat.....

Should Homeserve make unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to anyone registered with TPS then Homeserve are BREAKING THE LAW.

Please go to the TPS website to register and find out how to commence legal proceedings:- http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/tps

I (and I presume, many others on this Forum) certainly wouldn't deal with organisations that blatently break the law like that.

I (and I presume, many others on this Forum) will also tell as many friends and family as possible about their ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES.

A little bit of knowledge is a powerful thing.  But not in your case. Homeserve like most reputable companies apply TPS to all tele-marketing campaigns. Should that not have been the case you would most certainly hear about it via the national press. If you are all policy holders within Homeserve and ARE TPS registered this does NOT mean Homeserve are not entitled to call you. The logic behind that statement is thus:- You are an existing customer with Homeserve (it is reasonable to expect therefore that you may be interested in other products offered) and therefore UNLESS you have opted out from Telemarketing via Homeserve directly(hence my original post RON) Homeserve are perfectly entitled to contact you. I hope this clarifies the situation for you all.

I have used "chose to refuse" which worked well for a month, now they're using a different number which comes up on the display as the usual 01922 one. As to "me", what are you doing trawling through posts which are not relevant to you- sad or what? The rest of us have a real issue with the marketing techniques of Homeserve, could it be you are an employee? Get a proper job me!

Found this site through google... great idea.
I've had these calls too. Have mailed customer services and Harbin so will await results.
Threatened to call OFCOM if I get any more silent calls and will do so if I need to.
I'm in my 70's and disabled so getting to the phone if I'm not near it is often difficult and painful, but I pick up because I don't want to miss family calls.

For the attention of "A" (above),

By the tone of your post, you seem to have a connection with Homeserve.

Can I therefore suggest that you read ALL SIX PAGES of this paricular topic.

You should then conclude that Homeserve are making unsolicited phone calls to members of the general public who 1) are NOT customers of Homeserve and 2)have opted out via TPS.

You are therefore breaking the law.

Well, a few hours after blocking the last number I get another call. I now have 3 blocked numbers- all HOMESERVE. If this isn't harrassment what is?

I really can't believe the way this thread is going !

We have SIX pages of complaints here from people who are unhappy about being contacted by Homeserve, yet Homeserve think they are right and that we are all wrong !

So, a repeat of my earlir post dated 1/9/08:-

This is taken from the TPS website .....

"The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is the central opt out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales and marketing telephone calls to your home or mobile telephone numbers. yet again stop moaning about TPS. If you have ever had any dealings with omeserve then you are a customer and they are entitled to call you. Just as "a" said. Just cos you dont have policies with them does not mean yo are not a customer. You all use water and electricity and they all work with homeserve.
As i said instead of moaning on here orblocking numbers from your phone just call or write to homeserve and ask them to take you off their lists. One guy earlier on here said hedid that and it worked. Its that easy to do. You could have done it already now.
tell you what then, why dont you all take legal proceedings against them. I bet you will change your mind when you find out how expensuve and time consuming it is.
And as for lizzie calling me sad. You are the one who has blocked 3 numbers from your phone. Are you too scared to write to them and ask them to stop calling anymore. Put your money where your mouth is. Go on, have some courage. It will do you all good.

This is the purpose of this great website .....

"This is a user supplied database of phone numbers of telemarketers, non-profit organizations, charities, political surveyors, SCAM artists, and other companies that don't leave messages, disconnect once you answer, ignore the Do-Not-Call List regulations, and simply interrupt your day.

If you received a strange call, most likely you are not the only one. Search for this phone number to see the reports of others. If there are no reports yet, leave your comment to start a conversation."

So, what's the problem then "me" ?

The poster who uses the name  "me" (above) I suspect, has a connection with Homeserve in some way or other.

The poster who uses the name  "me" (above) is also talking a load of bullsh*t.

"me" claims that Homeserve work with all the water and electricity companies - THEY DO NOT AND THAT IS A LIE. Even if they did, that still does not entitle Homeserve to harass the general public by making unsolicited and unwanted phone calls.
