- jimGecko cost me at least £600. thay signed me up for a new contract with orange not relising that i was already tied to a orange broadband account. i lost my broadband and was dual billed for 10 months till my existing contract ran out. I had 2 accounts at £60 per mounth each, both accounts were rolling over 1000 min every month and orange held me to both because i signed the fax that gecko sent me.You lot are lucky that no one spoke.
- LawrieHaving read the previous posts I can add to the tales of woe.
Tamsin Malloy is her name and she promised after chasing me for 4 months until my old contract with O2 could be bought out, that I can have an Blackberry 8900 costing £25.50 per month with Orange -1800 minutes, 200 texts and unlimited browsing.
Over the last 4 months my bill has ranged from £46 to £82
I am now fighting them for my money to be reimbursed or the contract that is with Geko becomes null and void as they have not delivered on the contract.
Avoid like the plague - StuartI called the number back from a missed call and i think the company was called Geto Direct who are a business mobile phone company.
- BGHave nothing to do with this company!
- Old TimerI did do a deal with this company, screwed me over. would never ever deal with them again, lie, dont pay cash back, i was actually a referal aswel! i was supposed to be "looked after" if you want a word of advice from someone that knows... DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY HAVE LOTS OF CCJ's and are not as polished as they make out to be.
STAY CLEAR!- Call type: Telemarketer
- Vernon| 10 repliesTh eproblem with Geko is they are not licenced to sell new connections or upgrades to any mobile serve other than Orange. They used to be but due to immoral sales tactics lost all their Vodafone, T Mobile & O2 sales licences. SO now they cold call people and tell them they can get a better deal with Orange!
They can only offer standard deals and are only interested in getting your money.
How do Iknow this? I used to work there. My advice is, talk to your existing mobile provider or go direct to Orange. Dont bother with Orange, David Carter (the owner and MD) has enough money to retire with so dont give him any your yours!
The staff are trained in aggressive sales tactics, Tactics that no other company would dare employ. DO oyourself a favour, dont bother with them.

- Geko replies to Vernon| 8 repliesVernon,
A number of points arise from your comments below.
Firstly, obviously Venon isnt your real name, so it does beg the question as to why you arent comfortable with putting your name to your comments?
Secondly, I am at a loss as to how someone who claims to have worked for Geko has no knowledge of the commercial agreements that Geko has with the networks. Geko was NOT struck off by any of the networks that you mention, and such a statement is libelous in the extreme (perhaps giving an idea as to why you were so scared of giving your real name).
Thirdly, you state that Geko only has access to "standard" deals, again this belies your lack of knowledge about the arrangements that Geko has with Orange.
Fourthly, it is true that Dave Carter is successful in this field, but that success has been built on hard work, honesty, customer service and an eye for offering exceptional deals to customers (a large number of customers). This success has resulted in Geko being considered one of the very best companies in this industry, this isnt just a myopic viewpoint, it is one that is held by Orange.
Fifthly, you comment that our staff are trained in agressive tactics that no other company would DARE employ, again there is a suggestion that your comments are bordering on the libelous. Geko are regularly audited by external parties and our processes are found to be in line with the best practise in the market.
Sixthly, and finally, on a personal note, perhaps a little more spellcheck and a little less uniformed vitriol would give your comments a little more weight and allow them to appear less like the rantings of someone who has left a successful company and more like informed opinion....just a suggestion.
Oh and if you care to use your real name then we will gladly discuss this with you. - AnnoyedWe have been called on an almost weekly basis by various staff members from Geko for the last five months. The first mistake was made by my work colleague who was curtious! He could not get rid of them and eventually getting nowhere with him they somehow got my name! I got a call from Michael (corporate Accounts Manager) who refused to listen to me and when I said that I had e-mailed dnc@gekodirect.co.uk to ask them to remove our details from their database he informed me that he did not recognise the e-mail...however....I again told him that I was not interested and was the decision maker..deaf ears.. to have him speak over me refusing to listen. I had to put the phone down on him. He then phoned back very angry and asked one of my staff who the Director was as he wanted to send in a complaint!!!!! which he did actually do! heavens.. he also lied on the complaint with the sole intention of trying to get my colleague into trouble about giving our company information. Companies like Geko are giving other mobile phone venders a bad name!

- Piers Toff replies to unknownWish i read this forum before i stepped into the Geko trap, Dont confuse these people with just being incompetent, They are well trained to mislead ,Deceive, basically lie to get your money. They work closely with Orange so you wont get much help from them, Tell your friends to tell everyone they know about these Fraudulent immoral conmen.
- LOLWhat Vernon was saying is completely correct...... They can ONLY deal with Orange (The other networks parted ways with them because of their tactics), and if you need proof, give them a ring and tell them you want them to do you a deal on any other network apart from Orange...... they will try to talk you round to Orange, or say they will sort it out and you will never hear from them again. In fact, even better, phone O2, T Mobile,Vodafone or 3 and ask them yourself.
The people there dont care about you or your needs, they just want to get the commission they get from Orange from signing you up.- Caller: Gecko

- Peter replies to GekoIt is good to see that Mr. Carter actually exists !!!!
I wish I had read this forum befor being stupid - twice with this company.
Dave carter did not reply to my complaints about mis-selling and the company not carrying out what they said they would do concerning credits to Orange , review of contract after 12 months etc and after 18 months I stupidly reacted by an offer from Richard who contacted me to sell me a new contract with Orange. He said he would sort out the claim I had on the existing contract and could offer me a new contract which would save me money.
In writing he agreed the claim which was well over £ 1000 and asked for an invoice so that he could get it paid.
The invoices from Orange for the new contract came in and guess what - yes OK I know Iam an idiot - as they were not in line with the agreement made with Geko.
I took it up with Richard , Sam, Danielle, Hayley etc and it was agreed in writing that Orange were overcharging us against the agreement and that we would get a refund of £ 30 per month for 21 months. Please could I send an Invoice - did this - and in writing Danielle said " The invoice is correct for your new contract, so I have passed that to our relevant department, for payments to be arranged. I would like to confirm that any payments missed, will be backdated and paid."
Guess what it was not and now 3 weeks later Danielle is saying it is not agreed.
I am now told that no one is authorised to talk to me apart from Hayley and she cannot discuss the matter - she is only a messanger !
I was even told me that Sam was not authorised to make any agreements on behalf of the company even though I had emails exchanged with him.
I am told by her that after review by Dave Carter the none of the agreements made by Geko staff are now agreed !!!!! and that I cannot speak to anyone and that is an end to the matter.
If Dave Carter reviewed the file what business practice was he using to say he was not agreeing to stick by the agreements made by his staff who were selling the contracts ( and in this case agreed in sorting not just by phone ). It therefore seems that the Geko business practice goes right to the top - or maybe it starts at the top and goes right down to the sales staff !
They obviously do not care about the threat of court cases as this has been threatened by me and it was like water off a ducks back.
I feel such an idiot being taken in by Richard for the second contract on the basis that he was settling the dispute on the old contract.
I now have to try and get a court judgement but am really looking forward to seeing them face to face in court.
As everyone on this site who made a contract with them says don't touch them - they know all the tricks and know how to play them . - FSI have had on going problems with GEKO since May 2009 and it is still on going, all i can say is i cant wait until May next year when it is over and i can actually finish the contract and get a decent deal, my bill is horrendous i get promise after promise. Never ever in 13 months have i received an apology. Orange are fed up with all the false information they have fed to their customers. I swear i will never go to a third party mobile phone company again it gives the decent ones a bad name. It was that bad last year it made me ill.

So it looks like they are not just lying over the phone, but they come on here lying too......
Just to clarify what "high churn" means in the articles..... signing customers up for deals that they are not happy with so they dont do business with them again in the future. - Random replies to Graham, PD TransportTheres alot of things on here going on about missing money from buyouts etc, and people mention invoices, did you guys actally send the invoice? its seems fairly clear here that they pay the money to customers or they wouldnt still be around so maybe you should call the company and ask what paper work they require to complete the transaction. And also people who are now saying there bills are higher than they were before if you havent had the phones over 12 months find what you were given in writting when you took the contract and your recent bills and send them to there aftercare department who will write back to you explaining why your bills are high with most its not the plan your on but the numbers you call being 0845 numbers which no network has any control over.
- Medusa replies to Graham, PD TransportFirstly don't stop paying Orange, you have a contract with Orange and Orange will just cut you off as they have. Orange will listen if they are being paid.
Pay Orange but speak to an account manager take a name and extension explain what was proposed and what was requested explain to them you think the service has been mis-sold.
Also get in touch with ofcom and trading standards. Make copies of all documentation and send them copies.
1) Find the original proposal:
2) Request all telephone recordings.
3) Make copies of all e-mails and faxes.
4) Request all copies of purchase orders or contracts.
If you have none of the above requset this from geko in writing. ( Take the name and extension of the person you talk to also note date and time.) In the case of 4) request this from Orange if you have problems.
With regard to outstanding payment send a letter and inform them they have 7 days in which to respond before you take out a claim in the small claims court. Go to the small claims court and put in a claim for the outstanding monies owed to you.
Regards Medusa
