- crispianJust received a call from this number - female, far eastern probably India area - asking about my Windows computer. Hung up since I don't have one.
- EkaGot a call from this number, an asian male who told me that my windows computer was infected with a virus. He wanted me to allow him access to fix it. I told him I had an iMac and he said not to mess with him and that he knew I had windows. I told him I knew what I was looking at and he hung up.
- Call type: Survey
- BubblesHad yet another call from this number. This has been going on for years. They try everything to get more of your details from Insurance, PPI, claim for a car accident you have had in what ever year, any kind of survey you can think of, and the latest one is anything to do with your computer, like a virus, updating, wrong email address etc. If you tell them you have no computer and they persist in asking well how do you access the internet, just reply with your local library. My husband was told that I was sending out scam emails at 5.00 this morning. They wouldn't say who they were as Microsoft were listening in and wouldn't give their company IP address. He just told them you are SCAMMERS and put the phone down. My advice if you do not recognise the telephone number do not answer it, if it is important they will leave a message, but they don't they just hang up. I am disables and used to try to get to the phone, I don't anymore even though they can ring five times a day, oh and one other thing they do use a variety of telephone numbers so don't think it is someone calling from England as you can answer it and it will start ringing to another country, if it happens put the phone down otherwise it is you that are paying for the overseas phone call. Just remember it is all one big SCAM and DO NOT give them the time of day!!
- Caller: Wouldn't give their name
- Sue DAn Asian female called Henry (!) told me they were from BT and were ringing about my internet connection. Told her 'oh, so you're not from Microsoft then?' Told them they were scammers and hung up.
- merylThis number calls every few days. I am completely fed up with it.
- DC| 2 repliesI just had a call from a Chinese-sounding woman working for the Windows International Department, and she told me my computer was infected with a malicious virus. She asked me to switch it on so she could sort it out; I said I was too scared to switch my computer on, I would take it to my repairer who would sort it out for me. I kept asking her what country she was in, and she kept answering "Glasgow". I said "that isn't a country...." eventually she terminated the call. As many others have written, these are very tedious calls, and there sems no way to discourage the perpetrators!
- Nan replies to DC| 1 replyThe trouble with these pests is that, when we block one fake number, they find another one. The only way to deal with them is to put the 'phone down. I have a call blocking BT6500 'phone which filters out International, Withheld and Unavaiable numbers and 10 individual numbers. I keep it permanently on Ansafone with the message "This number is TPS registered. Unsolicited calls will not be answered or returned. Anyone else leave a message. This stops most of them in their tracks. People on my contact list are given a special ring tone and, if I don't hear that, the call goes to ansaphone. I then put the number on my block list and the 'phone does not ring and they can't leave a message. Although 10 numbers doesn't seem a lot, I have found that they give up after a few calls and I can remove the number from the block and free up space for the next one. I have had this for a year now and it has cut down nuisance calls from two or three a day to one or two a month. There are also Call Blocking units you can buy from Amazon or Argos. If we all got something like this we could make it not worth their while to pester us.
- MattTried ringing me twice today. Clearly Asian. Knew my name address and email. Tried to tell me their company got malicious email from my email address and they could sort it out. Just hung up. On repeated attempts to call me i just let them listen to radio 4. Very annoying. Should be investigated. I'm also registered on TPS.

- JulieHad 7 calls from this number today but as they are blocked on my phone I don't get to answer them! The calls increased after an asian woman rang me and said I had a problem with my computer. I said 'Really oh my goodness' in a very patronising tone. She said yes, is your computer turned on at the moment so I said no (even though it was) so she said Madam I need you to turn it on so in a stubborn childish voice I said 'I don't want to turn it on' and thus followed a series of the same thing. Eventually I asked her if she thought I was stupid so she said No Madam so I said yes you do,you think you are going to steal off me but you are out of luck, its not going to happen! Quite aggressively she again repeated her demands to turn my computer on so I said Why don't just you go away to which she again aggressively demanded I turn my computer on so I said 'look just f... away off' so she said Pardon Madam? i shouted down the phone 'F Off' to which she replied and the same to you Madam and hung up! Blocked they are and blocked they will stay! They succeeded in scamming my 80 year old Dad, bless him.

- RGradelessSurprising how busy a phone number can be - PPIs, Microsoft Windows, Accident Claims. I just a call from 'Amanda' of UK Choice wanting to do a survey. In other words collect some leads to sell on so other companies can contact me. I naturally declined to take part in the survey.
The companies who buy the leads are UK companies. They should be prosecuted for obtaining leads from organisations like UK Choice which exist to bypass the TPS system.- Caller: UK Choice
