I received a call from this number (02032870117) this morning.  The caller insisted that I had downloaded software to my computer which would cause problems.  I interrupted him and told him firmly that this was not true and asked to remove my number from his system and not to call me again.  I have also reported this number to the Telephone Preference Service with whom I am an active subscriber.

These people told me a had downloaded a lot of rubbish in the last few days, however when I asked them how they new that, they hung up, so call them back several times and each time they hung up, they will con various people with this tactic and a stop to them doing so has do be sooner rather than later. As an IT Manager I'm shocked they get away with such crap!!!

they have rang my elderly parents house over a period of time , my mother has often panicked about their call, today was the first id spoke to them and they were reiterating that there was an error on the pc, and that they were part of micrsoft, i asked them to send an official letter as my father was away i told them that with the amount of fraud that takes place i was not willing to go into detail over the phone and to call back after 6weeks when my father would return. he was adamant that by then the computer would have serious errors by this time. I took his name (max wilson) again he had an asain accent as some other people have already reported and he left the above number to call on. blatently BOGUS!

I got an Indian man named Andy, on an 02 number apparently from Sydney Australia, He wanted me to go to the site teamviewer, thats when I knew something was up.

He wanted me to go into remote access and tell him my IP and stuff, He was from 'Windows Technical Support' in North sydney, 71 Walker Street.. It happens to be a Cancer ward. :P Watch out.

I had a call from someone very similar, one person on the phone, another to do the remote access - supposedly in their IT dept.

Posing as MicroSoft and saying the same things about viruses. In a mad moment I did give them access through logmein123.com, BUT their approach was different . . .

Instead of trying to charge for the work, they tried to convince me that the viruses had cause my Windows Vista to become an illegal copy and software licence to end and therefore I had re-purchase a new license. 4 options ranging from £85 to £250 were given.

I ditched them when I realise what was going on.

I did replace/delete the system and re-installed, but I work on a Mac with Parallels so it was a fairly quick fix for me, and the Vista is only used for website testing.

    Beware they are very convincing!!!

My father received a call from this number and the gentleman on the phone told him that he worked for Microsoft. He explained that we had a new computer (which we did – don’t know how he knew that but it may have been a lucky guess) but that our BT virus defence was ineffective. He then convinced my father, who is not particularly familiar with the workings of a PC, that the computer was full of viruses and that dad should allow him assess to the computer. My father installed a screen sharing program which allowed the caller to access our computer. He then installed a cheap virus defence program (I found it online for $10) and aid it would protect us for 5 years.

He charged £200 and my father paid this into his account using Alert Pay. Sadly I was not a home when this happened so I was unable to tell my father to hang up the phone and call BT to check our virus defence was working correctly, which it was. We have since cancelled the credit card and BT checked our computer was ok. Beware of this number as it is a total scam. The email address used by this caller is faizh1984@gmail.com and he uses a think Indian accent. Tell him to F**k off and hang up the phone!

I also got a call from these people, on both the 0203 2870117 number and also 0843540007. I cut the conversation after a few seconds. But I think maybe next time I'll have a bit of fun with them by throwing some Apple Mac jargon at them - it's usually a good ploy, as most of them have learned all the "Windoze" terms parrot-fashion but haven't a clue when it comes to a real computer. Even better - tell them you use Linux!

Same here as most of you. This time under the banner of "The Windows Service Centre" The strange thing is that I don't have any windows computers, I have a completely Linux household.
Have reported the two calls I have had to the telephone preference service. Please, Please, Please...do the same. What this company is doing is ILLEGAL

I just received a call from phone number 020 328 70117 - he said he was calling from Australia, his name was Jack Watson ... and my Windows software warranty had run out as of today ... advised that tomorrow it would not work at all.
(funny because at that very moment I was just reconfiguring my router after a power failure and it was giving me a hard time - lol)
In a former life I was a computer technician, so I was kind of drooling over what this 'artist' was trying to scam me for. His accent was East Indian - no harm, no foul ... most of the best tech support comes from that region - not sure why he lied and told me he was in Australia ... but I digress.
He told me to turn my computer on and (garbled - could not make out what task he wanted me to perform due to phone connection) ... ya, nope to that bud.
I asked him for his company name - he replied Windows Tech Support - so I asked if he worked for Microsoft ... a bit of word shuffling here, but the answer was no.
I asked him what my operating system was - he replied "it is your Windows software that is corrupt and sending out messages to other servers, causing corruption". I again asked 'which' Windows software. he said 'yes, Windows". I again asked what my operating system was so he asked me to jot down a serial number, I did and again asked what my operating system was.
He replied that I wasn't understanding, that my Windows Software would stop operating tomorrow, and that it was severely corrupt.  I said 'I think you are severely corrupt' (he didn't get my joke)
I asked when did I buy it? (no answer)
I asked again if I was causing harm to others (no answer)
I asked for his website address, which he recited as techmysupport.com
I told him that I was a computer technician and I had never heard of such a scam. He told me this was most serious and everything would stop working tomorrow. I asked him how he knew my software was both corrupt and 'expired' and he replied that they monitor
    lol
Anyway, his accent was very hard to understand and the phone connection was very bad - or I would have stayed on the line for an hour playing with him - bad connection took my fun away!
So I asked him what he could do for me ... he started reciting the value packages that could save me for life ... the only one I could make out was a 5 year protection for $300 some odd.

I told him that I would call Microsoft and see where his company fit in (lol) and he said he 'most expressly would wait for my call back' (lol) - and this was a one time opportunity to save me and that he would not be calling again - I said "that's good" and disconnected

sheesh - I am so, so sorry for the folks who fall prey to this sh*t - I know many family and friends who would be scared by what he had to say and would have followed his instructions. If you have fallen for this poop, don't be hard on yourself and just consider lesson learned. There are more idiots out there then legit folk.

    bad bad bad miscreant!

you must not be getting many results from your scam calls if you have time to mess around on the web and post your phony comments in here - sheesh, get a real job. Look at yourself in the mirror - you are smart, quick on your feet ... what are you doing wasting your time "working" in this scam industry?

on the most basic level of communications, "real" tech support would not capitalize their comments to get their point across.

Keep spreading the word my computer/internet friends ... these guys are not the first, nor will be the last, to try and pull the wool over your eyes. They are trained, they practice to prey on you for cash.

Just remember, no matter what - no matter who!!
1 - N-e-v-e-r give out personal info, especially banking info to anyone!
2 - N-e-v-e-r let anyone into your computer remotely!
Tell everyone you know the above two rules
Report these scammers to your local RCMP (or police force) - they don't know who to chase if you don't tell them.

I had call from same number this morning - also Indian accent and bad line. Told me I'd been submitting error reports which could allow hackers into my computer. I asked her where she'd got my name and number from and she said I was registered with them.

Then asked me to turn my computer on so I said was just going out as alarm bells were ringing like mad. I told her I never send error reports to which she said "yes you have because I can see them" so I said my children sometimes use my computer (we've actually got 4 computers in the house so they never do) and she said "no it is not your children it is definitely you." The thing is my laptop is one I bring home from work and my name is not registered anywhere on it so I knew she was trying it on?!

At this point I passed phone to my husband who knows his stuff pretty well and when she started telling him that pc was still at risk even with ports closed and firewall running, he asked for her number and ended the call.  These people are praying on people and it is a total scam.

When I rang to report the number I was told to register with TPS (Telephone Preferencing) and if they hen call againl they are breaking the law. I'm already registered with TPS!

DO NOT DO WHAT THEY ASK YOU TO!!!

Was called this morning by guy with heavy indian accent, I genuinely could not understand what he was saying, told him this and said goodbye.
Another clearer speakind indian man rang back from 'Advanced PC Cure' and started to explain about my computer being under threat from viruses etc, I was unsure and asked for their number and rang them back (was told to ask for Robert Smith) (02030514529).  This time I was really suspicious as could hear many people in the background and they had no swithboard/holding system for their phones.  When the guy came on the line I said I was going to ring a technical friend to check them out - I did this and he said it was a con so am glad I was not taken in.  Half an hour later I was rung again by them, later on that afternoon another call!!
