Go to Google  website, type in  'Privacy and electronic communications'. On the list see 'Automated call forwarding' article 11; 'this service must be provided free of charge' to prevent unwanted calls.

Below on the list, Unsolicited marketing, article 13; coldcalling is illegal according to EU directive without the subscriber's consent; read all about it, then send a copy by recorded delivery to your phone provider. Logg all calls you recieve and report to TPS, OFCOM, and the INFORMATION COMMISSIONER'S OFFICE. The more people who complain the sooner these supposed regulators act on our behalf.

I missed their call so rang them back to find it was a Mail number. I wonder what procedure they use, e.g, are they trawling through directories as my daughter once did when working in telephone sales? I am in the Northampton book and wonder whether its our turn to be harrassed, or worse, defrauded.

Two or three calls a day - if answered usually no reply. Today, obviously some firm who knew my name and alleged that I may be eligible for PPI refund. Two private telephone lines into house both of which are attacked. Clearly some law firm on the make. Suspect telephone numbers with my name attached obtained illegally - one line is ex-directory. Both telephone lines are registered with the telephone preference service.

So this number called me too this week:02070603887. It was a silent call, like one of those Auto Dialers of the past.
When I called it back there was a recorded message about the number being vacant and availableto buy. It gave another number... 08704460870
so I called that number and got the same pre recorded message. Number available to buy. Both messages referenced the DM Club / Digital Mail Club.

Just had a call from this number (prefixed 0044). Person at the other end asked for me by name. I asked how he has my number. He gave me some crap about being on a database of financial providers. I told him I'm on TPS, and should not receive these calls. He then told me they are registered on the TPS and are able to talk to me on behalf of banks etc about PPI. He listed a load of banks, none of which I have an account with, so I told him this. He then asked what bank I'm with!!! Cheek! I then told him that any banks who owe PPI refunds contact their customers direct. Rude git shouts at me,'as if banks are going to contact you if they owe you money!' I pointed out that the law says they have to. He repeated himself. This went on for a short while. I told him to take my number off the list, and he then starts slagging me off to someone in the call centre with him! I'm still fuming now!

These people are despicable. How are they allowed to get away with it - and use UK numbers?

your phone provider passes your number and details to third parties for marketing purposes; without your consent, usually in the small print on your contract . Check; then look on the web " UNFAIR CONTRACT TERMS", see also Invasion of privacy under "Privacy and Electronic Communications EC Directive Regulations 2003. See under General Issues, Automated call Forwarding article 11, and Unsolicited Marketing article 13, then write to your provider and remind them of these LAWS, all binding within UK Law.
