My aged frail mother was scammed for £50 today (she thought it was Microsft calling her to help her with computer problems)
They wanted more than £50 but she said she couldn't afford it!

These people are scammers!!!!!!
Never let anyone remotely join your computer!
Every computer has loads of errors everyday.
Put the phone down call or email your ISP and virus software support team only.

I sought friends' advice over the following, one of whom drew my attention to this phone number on Google, so here for anyone's benefit is my own experience repeated here for you:

I have just had another call from these guys, James he calls himself, persistent little blighter, I tried to put him off earlier this week but he call again, always at the same time 10am.  Spoke to my brother as he is in the computer know and he said it was a scam and to get their number, he said that it would be unlikely that they would give it but they did 02071939836 said his name was James or ask for Mike, yeah!!! I bet.  As you have all mentioned in the past posts he spoke with broken English.    Before ringing it or bothering my brother again I thought that I would do a little search on Google to see what I could come up, this was one of my brighter moments, in fact, when I found this site I was amazed, what a help it has been.  I thank you all so much for your input, I have had these phone calls in the past and there has been nothing wrong with my computer but at the moment I am having lots of troubles so it seem funny that they should ring, coincidental, that’s all it was and I think that is what they rely on.  Anyone reading this and has had a call please post as it helps others has I have been helped.  Lynne

I had calls from them quite a few times and always told them to go away. But last time out of curiosity I decided to let him to talk. Sure enough, he said exactly the same stuff as everybody here described. This is obviously a scam. Like the banks never ask your pin over the phone, no legitimate company would phone you to say you have a problem.

I got a phone call from 02071939836 too today, they said that they was from the Technical department of worldwide web server and that Windows send them error reports when I have an error.
The first man I spoken to was named Matthew (obviously not as he was Asian), and he was just a normal advisor saying that I had not shut my computer down properly and they had received an error report. He carried on telling me I had over 2000 !!!! error reports (unlikely since we had the computer wiped clean a few weeks ago and runs perfectly fine). I asked him how he knew of these problems of mine and he said that because I'm using Windows then the reports automatically get sent to them.
I noticed this was a scam very earl on in the phone call and carried on the phone for a further 30 minutes.
I asked as well information about my computer since he's had these error reports... which he could not answer what the make or what Windows I am using because he's blatantly trying to scam me if he cannot provide these details but yet says I have errors still.
He did however have my IP address, and fathers name and home address, how he got these... I have no idea!
I spoken to their senior supervisor named Jerry Lawson (i think thats how he said his last name), again Asian so not their real name. I asked their address he said its 22 Coventry Road, East London. But Matthew said it was in Glasgow (these guys really need to get their stories straight!), and he said i only have 1000, not 2000 errors.

The whole idea of this call was to "rectify errors", these was the instructions they gave me:
-Press the windows key and hold down R
-The run window pops up
-Type in EVENTVWR

.... by this stage I was supposed to be at my computer (but i didnt do any of this because I knew it was a scam, and this website very helpfully said they had been scammed too) and so i dont know what further instructions would have been.

Also they kept saying "ma'am".. which is not used in London, or Glasgow, or even any of the UK, or it's rare.


TOTAL SCAM !! Dont give any details to them especially card details!!

Received my first call from these today. Foreign guy, very thick accent. He was very pushy, adamant that i enter in the command he gave me. I kept saying no, he kept pushing. Said he works for Microsoft. I told him straight that i didn't trust him, therefore i will not be doing as he asks. I asked for his name (Billy Rogers) and a contact number (the one above). I told him i will research what he is asking of me, and i will call him directly to confirm if he was telling the truth. He stuttered and said ok, but i will have a hard time getting hold of him as the lines are busy. I said its fine, i don't mind waiting... And i hung up. I done 1471 on my phone, and was told the number that called me was 01234567890.
I knew straight off it was a scam, and hearing his name, along with his accent gave me a good giggle. However, i did Google the numbers and came across this site and thought it wise to mention.

I got a call from a parasite from this company 11/01/2014 stating that he was from Microsoft and that he has been asked to call me as they were getting warning reports from my computer to their's about the alarming number of errors on my computer, that were apparently multiplying by the day.   He assured me that it was not a sales call and that he was from the technical department of Microsoft.  Mmmm….started to smell a rat but stupidly went on with the call and followed his instructions to run a diagnostic test as proof that these warnings and errors were on my computer and yes, having followed some simple commands, there were errors and warnings showing up on the screen.  This lovely young Asian man with a very English name 'Jack Thomas' was more than happy to fix my errors for FREE!!….all I had to do was to let them have access to my computer desktop.  Probably to gain access to my financial information no doubt.  Yeah right…like that was ever going to happen!  
I asked for a phone number and was given the 020 7193 9836 and hung up on him.  I called the number immediately and discovered they were Smart Support Guys based in Dubai.  He denied that anyone had contacted me from the business and that the police and trading standards were aware of the situation and that this was a call scam. I asked for his name, the name of the MD and the address of the business but he refused to give it to me.  A double scam and delay tactic for the potential victim not to inform the authorities in my opinion with their 'we are aware of it' attitude, what tosh!  As this business is stupid enough to pose as fake Microsoft technicians, I have reported them and their scam practices to the relevant personnel at the Microsoft head office at Reading and the police.  I would recommend that others do the same.

This happened to me on boxing evening.  I too fell for it at a cost of £169.99.  If this has happened to anyone else do the following:

Notify your credit card company
notify your bank
Report the incident to Action Fraud
Change your phone number
Have your laptop/pc checked for malware/spyware or any other security issue.

'George from windows tech support' has just phoned and told me I have a critical error on my computer. Now I was taken in once by a similar company and foolishly gave them my card details to pay them to fix all these errors. My bank blocked the payment as it came up in their system as a red flag so fortunately the company didn't get any money from me thanks to Lloyd's bank but I immediately changed all my passwords etc and have not had any probs since. So when George phoned I strung him along. He said he was based in London. I said he didn't sound like he was based there. He took it to mean his accent and explained he was Asian. I knew he was phoning from overseas as there was an delayed echo on the line when I spoke. Kept him on the phone for ages 'playing along' - my computer wasn't even switched on!!  I finally told him I was bored with this conversation, told him he was a scammer and that I had recorded our conversation and was going to report him and his company to the police. Then googled the 02071939836 no and found this site. Be warned. Do not let these ar*eholes trick you.

I can't decide whether you are a shill for these scammers or just an idiot.  Anyone who cold calls saying you have computer errors is a liar and a scammer.  Their aim is to get remote acces to the computer and steal your personal information like banking and purchasing.  They may even charge you for the priviledge of stealing from you if they think they can get away with it.  Both Microsoft and Apple have warnings on their websites telling people to never, ever, give remote coputer access to a cold caller.  Added to this are numberous warnings on TV consumer programmes about the scam.  By the way, no satisfied customeer of a company would look up their number on a website for reporting unknown, unwanted and scam calls.  On that basis, I have come to the conclusion that you are a shill (look it up in a dictionary)

This company is a big scam, my parents disputed their cc charge after they "fixed" the computer by web-updating. That was 18 months ago, now they call every 3 months, over and over. Trying to solicit business. Thank you for pushing back.
