My Mum was called by this company said they were telephone security and they were verifying they had the right person - knew her name village and postcode - said they had a record of a phone call in December of her agreeing to a fee of £49 for stoppage of unwanted phone calls. She said she hadn't but the caller sounded very official and read out the first 4 numbers of her card, he was very insistent he wasnt selling anything she hadn't asked for and after about 20 minutes she gave the rest of her card details. When i found out I immediately rang the bank but they said the money had been taken. I have now had to cancel her card and she is an 86 year old lady who is really upset with all of this! Anyone know who I should contact to complain about this?

Our local police have advised that people should NOT dial this number, which charges you, the caller, some huge sum per minute. So, don't be tempted to ring them back.  Because of this warning, I have not rung their number to try to find out the name of their so-called Company.

As your mother has been robbed, I guess the first thing is to tell the police. Our local police advised on no account to ring the "Company" back, as the call charge is huge.    

The fact that the caller had her card details is very worrying, and the bank should also be able to advise?

You can also ask your phone provider if they can block these calls.

My 95 year old father had a call yesterday, worryingly they had his credit card details and although he says he did not agree to anything they said they were taking £49.00 for phone security, he is already on TPS anyway. When he told me today I got him to call the bank and they agreed to cancel his card, didnt mention returning the money though so I will be following this up too. Beware!

**DON'T CALL THE NUMBER BACK**
My mother just had a phone call from telesecurity- David Jordan asking for £49 to stop unwanted calls (ironically) she had apparently requested.  They knew some of the details of her bank card.  Unfortunatly she fell for the scam and gave all details.  She has since stopped her account and requested a new bank account.  No money had come out luckily!  Also read on other sites that you shouldn't call the number back as it is a high rate number and cost you a fortune.
Looks like they are targeting older people, so warn parents, grandparents and neighbours.

my mum had the same phone call only she told them my daughter will ring you back. i did just that and gave him a lot of abuse down the phone. told him it wont be the last time you hear from me.his name is john parker and i will be takin it further before he cons any more people. my mum is 80 so looks like this creep is only after the vunerable

Just had this call. Basically, he wants to verify your card details, ie GET your card details so obviously don't give it to him. It was slightly confusing but he said he spoke to me 48 days ago which I know was a blatant lie, so then I asked him if he's got my account details what my account number is, playing him at his own game.
Do not give out your details to anybody who phones YOU! That's like me phoning you and asking for your bank details. Please!
