- MGI went for an interview yesterday, 24th March '09. I was given the same crap about fee's being £1k cheaper if I sign up before the end of the month, which also happens to be 7 days.
I was interviewed with another guy at the same time. At the end they asked whether we'd be choosing home learning, or classroom studying. I said home, and the other guy said classroom. I can guarantee that I'll be getting the call today, as it means they won't have to deal with me regularly.
They only accept cash or cheques.
Whilst they did have a computer classroom their, the rest of their setup was unprofessional. I actually left my CV in the car as I was in a rush to get their, and they turned around and told me I wouldn't need it.
They offered the ECDL and CIW in Web Design, with a guaranteed job within 8 weeks of completing the course. The only guarantee in life is that their are no guarantees.
I'll post again later with an update about whether I'm offered the job or not. - astikI saw the ad in Metro and right away I thought that the 'contribution required' was a scam, but my friend convinced me to go ahead and try; plus was strange not seeing the address in the ad.
Anyhow I went along to the interview and as soon as I got in, I had this feeling of a scariness.
Filled in the attitude test (using my calculator because I'm crap at math(!).
We where called in 2 by 2 because they had around 30 people a day applying for the Web Design course. I was interviewed with a French girl, so the questions where for both of us. All went fine and it was explained well, but I could tell that the interviewer has never designed anything at all (I've been designer myself for 18 years).
The course cost was for online study: £2960 and for classroom (at Redwood office) £3160, but since they were doing some kind of offer they will take £1000 off (why would you take such amount off if you have so many candidates at day? I thought).
I wanted to see the classroom because I was interested on the school course and with my surprise the classroom was very tiny, no black board and no space for teacher, shocking!
The interviewer gave us couples of photocopied brochure (!), and in one of the brochure the main picture it's a hand highlighting jobs on a newspaper (!!!!!!)
WOW, I want to do a web design course and at the end I will find a job like that? Looking at newspaper to find a job, that are dying at the moment and no one advertise in newspaper anymore?
Afterward I chatted about with two friends about it and the conclusion was that the course was not good for me.
Today I received a letter from Redwood Futures offering the Full Gold Course for £925: ALE!
At this point I searched the web for clarifications and thank good I found this page.
Thanks guys for sharing your experience, I will not sign. - NazGod bless this website. I have saved myself a long trip to croydon and possibly a lot of money.
- daxI was given this number 0208 774 7709, cos a friend had seen the advert in the Metro newspaper. I've been unemployed for months so of course this sounded just the ticket. I'm into web design.......but luckily I googled the phone number and found this brilliant site. Thanks everyone for the warnings......and sympathies to the people that actually lost money.

I nearly went to the interview today, I am glad I searched you on-line.By the way ,there are several different free courses on-line if you'll search Google. They are not excellent but at least I do not have to travel across London and they are FREE.
- AngryHi guys, I've got an interesting story about these guys that everyone should know about. I signed on with them last year and was bright and optimistic about all the promises they made. Now, I'm new to London so its quite easy to take me for a ride, and so they did. I paid the huge amount for the course and received books in the mail with training cds that other places probably provide for cheaper. But anyway, so far so good. I took my first exam and found that I had to pay for them myself, and it wasn't included in the huge fee I paid at the beginning. I wrote to them and said I wasn't happy about the fact that they "failed" to mention this at the beginning, but they fobbed me off with excuses. Anyway, I progressed along the course and came to my secon-to-last exams. In the exam I was confronted with material that wasn't even REMOTELY covered in the books Redwood sent me. I emailed them and told them how furious I was to be seeing new material in an exam situation and they replied saying that it was "normal". Yes, normal. They argue that each exam contains 10-20% of material that isn't covered in any book, and its how great students distinguish themselves. Now, to me a student distinguishes himself by preparing his course material well, not by being semi-psychic and able to study material that he didn't know existed. Anyway, I said that Redwood failed to mention this (again) when I signed on at the beginning, and that if I had known that it would have affected my decision to sign on or not. This brings us to where I am now. The director of Redwood has officially with-held my course materials from me because he demands that I apologise for my complaint, demands I retract my complaint and state that I am "happy". Now, I wish to go on with my course, get qualified and get a job but I can't as the director is refusing to send me my materials (that I have paid for) unless I grovel before him. I am far from "happy". I say avoid these people if you can, tell everyone that they are a scam and try and spread the word so that no more innocent people get caught out by these lying, conniving people.

- old handGuys, look back in the archives for Top Choice Computer Careers which went bust owking thousands of students money - THESE ARE THE SAME GUYS!!!!!
- Been there beforeRewood is run by the same guys that bankrupted Top Choice Computer Careers!!!!!
Top Choice in liquidation
The FE Focus section of the Times Education Supplement (7 May, p1) has stated that Top Choice Computer Careers is now in liquidation. The paper quoted MD Andrew Baldwin as saying that "students would be contacted and given the chance to continue their studies" but no clues, from TES at least, as to how. (see also an earlier news item) - t tranwow! is this actually true? please tell me not , i am currently on a course with them, actually paid the reduced fee ! damn! and the funny thing is the guy that interviewed me made it sound so good he said i would b interviewed out of many people and the chance is less if i would get picked, so i was thinking alright then, few days later he ranged me up and said i was chosen out of the few of the interview he had taken with other people, he really did get my hopes high, how shameful that i fell for it... wish this never happened what u guys think i should do now ? the course is really easy just duno what to expect next now...

Jesus, there are loads and loads of these cons around.
I am soooo glad I checked the website....
I give them 10/10 for being convincing. - DaliPheeeww!!! I went for an interview today 17th July.Found them a bit professional, but the interviewer was banging on about salaries and earnings as a web-designer which made them sound like they are selling something rather than recruiting.
They told me to forget the javaEE that I know a bit of, and they 're going to teach me to pass the ECDL exam! WHAT???
AVOID!!!- Caller: Redwood future
- BedThese guys are cheats and they are taking so much advantage of people especially International Students. I paid them 2, 950 for an 18 month WEB MASTER PROGRAM. All programs are self tutored. The training materials alone will not help in passing and there is no one at hand to help with any technical questions and the worst thing is there is no job offer after your certification.
They are a scam and will arrange a few interviews to fulfill their terms but will blame you for not making the grade. The manager is shrewd and arrogant and will ask you to leave for home or apologise at the least provocation.
There are fake threats of reporting students to the Home Office. International students beware. I am thinking they may have some powerful people somewhere in authority - follow upI see the Redwood saga continues. Further to my story above (posted under "angry")...the director of the company was rude in all of his dealings with me, for the web master course I spoke to the accredited people and they told me plainly that Redwood are NOT accredited and are using grey market materials. Bottom line - Redwood's materials are a joke and they WON'T prepare you for exams (that cost £100 to sit, I might add). The director KNOWS this and so trains his staff to tell students that "10-20% of the exam contains material not covered in any syllabus". I asked the official providers and they said this was an outright lie. Furthermore, Redwood's materials are dated 2004 (half a decade out of date)and I wouldn't be suprised if this was across the board for all the other courses they supply(book-keeping, plumbing etc). As I said before, the director was very rude the whole time throughout, and at one point demanded I approach him with "complimentary compliments". Egomaniac! Interestingly, I see that the same director was director of another school that was shut down due to false advertising and generally being very shady. That school was shut in Feb 2004 and Redwood was started in March 2004. With the same director? Despite being dodgy, that's also apparently quite illegal. As I said before, avoid these people! I've demanded a refund and continued my course through another institution. Their materials are up-to-date, well presented and detailed. The exact opposite of Redwood's. I suggest anyone signed with them should do the same. I've tried to report Redwood to consumer direct, but haven't got a response. Anyone else have any other ideas?
- kyleguys is this really true coz i'de paid £200 pounds to this people as a scholarship! what i want to find out is that do you get the certificate at the end of the day?
