I have just managed to get off the phone to a very polite Indian gentleman who assured me that he was bona fide by giving me this number. I was suspicious and thankfully managed to get away just in time because of information given to me by my friend that it's likely to be a scam. I googled the number and voila! It IS a scam

I have been called twice by these people! Both times claiming from microsoft. First time I was suss and I told them i had to go as I had kids crying in the background...she got real mad and said "don't lie and use your kids as an excuse....do you believe in Jesus Christ?? Why you lie"...second time they called was today and spoke to my husband...he played along making them believe he believed what they were saying, i think he frustrated them more than anything...and after a period of time on the phone with them he said to them "do you think i'm stupid, i know you are scammers just thought i'd try annoy you as much as you annoy me"

They are still trying.  Called me 16 March 2011 (second time in 2 days!) and I suspected a scam immediately for all the reasons others have stated.  Definitely sub-continment accent. I asked for their number and said I would ring back "after making enquiries".  Thanks for the warning here.

I got 2 calls from these guys today only because I was at home with my sick kids.  As soon as I answered I got some on-hold music and knew right away that some scammer was calling me.   The first time they called and said they were calling from Microsoft Windows (???) toi let me know my computer was spewing out viruses I told them to screw off as I am a certified computer/network technician and to not call here again.   My kids were in bed and they called again!  As soon as I heard the on-hold music I went to my computer to see what these idiots were up to as I was curious.  He had me do a join.me connection (which is a legit site I sometimes use so knew how to use it so he couldnt take control) but I made him wait while I said I was trying to figure out how to get joinme working -- what I actually did was put a picture of a large gaping a$$h0le on the screen before he connected and he hung up right away when he saw it.  I'm hoping they wont call back again!  ROFLMAO

yes i've just had one of these calls - i got as far as opening the 'run' window, but when she said she would just tell me what to type in i started thinking no way this has to be like a spam email scam but by phone. she gave the 0280035397 phone number and a customer care number - 80035365 and said she was from global it technologies - i googled them and it's not their number. i emailed them to ask if they were in fact the originators of the call and then googled the phone number and found this site.

hi, just replying to your post because i had the same thing happen to me just a few days ago. The guy gave me his number i had just came home when my husband who is not really good with computers was punching in the details of what Roger/Michael had said.
I was wanting to know,weather they had installed a key logger although the pin he asked to put in did not work after bringing up www.logmein123.com
quiet worried about it and hubby feels so bad but had no idea he was being conned into getting an anti virus for 99 bucks. they said they where from telstra and when i spoke to them they said Microsoft and are now using different names when you call back. I told them i am contacting the police so it may have scared them a little bit. I am considering calling crime stoppers and if i am able to get any furthur infromation I might consider court action.

They have called me several times saying my computer is at risk..anyhow who has a computer knows its impossible to get help even when you call them!!..when do they ever call you?..

The same thing happened to me. Almost word for word. 1st time I listened but felt it was dodgy as I have mostly apple products. 2nd time I told them that I knew it was a scam. And the final time I blew a whistle so loudly in their ear that Im guessing they wont be hearing anything much for a few day.

Yeap they called me to, I got their nbr same as above called them back, (I have block service nbr) you could tell it was a scam. Told them to f,?$& off & ended the call. It's 100% Indian call center type of setup bad spoken english & you could smell the curry.

i can confirm this. just received a call this morning claiming to be from microsoft wanting me to load up the computer and start making some 'fixes' to help 'protect' against some sort of 'virus that is affecting my computer every time i load up'.
i became suspicious when they began trying to get me to modify the remote access to allow them to make changes to 'clean' my computer.
do not fall for it. they do not have a certification code or anything that authorizes them to do this work for microsoft. they get pushy when you ask for it and will say things like 'clearly you do not want to protect your computer'.
i asked repeatedly for a number to verify what they were saying and this is the one i received.
thanks for posting 'sam sikascams'. everyone else watch out for rubbish like this and post online to warn others of this crap.

hiiiiii i knw very well dat global pc protection is a scam company from india.....
they just hack ur computer n after that if u dnt want to fix up ur problem they just give a time bomb type virus in ur computer n after that u have to give them ur money, so its my humble request wenever sumbdy calls u n say i m calling u from the GLOBAL PC PROTECTION just hangup the call......

even they dont have their tax number............
its totaly a scam company

I got a call from the following number 02 8003 5397 from an indian sounding man who called himself Jeffery. Jeffery claimed to be calling on behalf of microsoft telling me there was a problem with my computer. He called his company - costomer care of windows computers. Felling like this was a dogy call i asked for a call back number and was provided with the number above.
After ignoring the call for the rest of the day I proceded to call the number back the following morning. The call was answered and the name of a restaurant was announced. Unfortunatly I was unable to catch the name of the restaurant but when i questioned the person who answered, the phone hastly past on to someone else. THIS IS A SCAM, BE AWARE!

Just also had a call from Mac. Nice guy.. gave me a fake phone number at first but when i said i was keen but was in the middle of cooking dinner, he soon gave me a real one 03 9018 7738... so if anyone wants a number there it is... These guys make me laugh... poor little indians... wondering where they'll get their next papadam from.... I like to mess with them a bit though... ask which computer is going to crash.. and sound real concerned... then see if they can help all your friends too.... they get so excited.... then tell em you'll have to call em back.. they just about cry... he kept asking my name.. I said it was the one on the paperwork... "no i mean your short name sir" nah, i dont have one... lol....

I feel bad for the good indians.... (the ones with bows and arrows)

how far into the procedure must you go before the scam is fully completed? i got up to the part where i was on chat to one of the 'technicians' but got too skeptical and hung up.

Basically same story as everyone else.  Don't co operate.  They are obviously still doing the same thing with the same phone number.

Same for me - said he (Francis) was calling to offer support to alleviate a dangerous virus within microsoft office 2011.

I had the same call. After letting him go on for little while. I told him to f*ck off and never call again. A few seconds later… He called back and said "I want to f*ck your mother. I want to f*ck" then I hung up.... Looks like I got the best of him.

I just received two calls one last night and one this monring form a company who said they were global protection IT in Sydney. Indian woman. Same story as above support dept of microsoft etc. Asked me to run eventvwr. Was put onto supervisor "nancy". I called them back on (02) 80035397 and they answered. All sounded suspicious. Thanks for posts above. They have confirmed my suspicions.
