If its TV liscencing (and I did cancel my direct debit as I moved - no interest in transferring the liscence as I dont need it) HOW did they get my pay as you go mobile phone number. I can guarentee I never gave it to them.

I DO NOT give this number out to companies ar anyone else other than mates.....

Figured it out....

As it was a direct debit that was cancelled, the ONLY way they could have got my number is my bank gave it to them, as they DO have the number as they text me pin numbers for online transactions....

Complaint going in to OffCom, and Santander......

Today i got call from this number the person's name was shahzad.He was asking me about my bank details for tv liscence.I asked him time till tomorrow to check if it is the liscencing agency or someone else.Then he threatened me of fine worth 1000 pounds.I am giving already liscence fee and now i have transferred to a new property from past two weeks.Our tv installation is due on 2nd of may i asked only one day from shahzad but he said if i am not giving him account details today he will terminate my debit account .Please verify the details and contact me on my number as under,

I had this number call and they won't say who they are but want me to confirm my details. I asked for number to call back and they said there wasn't one. No details from me unless I know who and can ring them.

This is not tv licencing! Theyve rang me on numerous occasations but when i answer no reply. They called again this morning and finally someone spoke asing for my old address and new one, they told me i'd over paid which is immosible as i only lived at that address a few months and paid 5 pound a week. Then asked for my bank details to pay me the 36 pound they owed me! I refused amd called tv license who informed me that no one from there had contacted me

I think you are right.  I have recently cancelled my DD with them.

It's TV licensing. Legit.
But that doesn't change the way it's being used. Repeated calls with no answer are annoying and upsetting.

What nonsense, keeps ringing everyday, upto 4 x's, no one ever talks, just hangs up.

They have just called me as well.  

I recently cancelled the DD,  but moved straight onto a weekly payment scheme,  and paid the first couple of payments upfront.  My next payment isn't due to be paid until the 28th,  so why the hell are they calling me.

Very rude, very aggressive - demanded my bank details and home address. Which i refused to give - failed to respond when i asked how they got my mobile number which i have never supplied.

It is the TV Licence people - they're idiots. I called them to tell them I was paid up for the year and I don't want to pay in advance by direct debit. They said that was fine... and now they keep calling to set up a direct debit!

Morons.

Its not TV Licensing themselves but an outside telemarketing agency employed to chase accounts.

I've seen people say TV Licencing, it can't be, the tv licence isn't in my name, and they wouldn't have my phone number.

rang me today on a number they have never had (wheres our protection against these people through the data protection act) anyway i do not watch live TV and never will pay theese [***] to promote child rape or false news via the bbc (british bunch of cnuts)

The Information Commissioner is the man you want.      Feel free to report the mis-use of your data to him rather than moaning here.

Others above have suggested that it is not TV Licensing but a debt collector employed by them so take care when deciding which organisation to make your complaint about.

I have had callls fron this number more than once now.  I just ignore them, because I don't recognise the nuumber.
