I have received many calls over time from this number and they always identify themselves as Life Style Research Centre from Harpenden but cant give a more accurate address such as street or name of building

Just had my second call - told them if they are asking if I'm the lady of the house or the house owner, they obvoiousy don't know who they are calling and told them not to call back....we''ll see.

Just had a call from them - an Indian guy claiming to be called Jack Smith. He said they were doing market research, and that as a "token of appreciation I would be contacted by companies offering services relevant to my interests". When I said I didn't want this, he said it was "only if I showed a positive association during the questions". I reiterated I didn't want to be marketed to, and he hung up.

Had 2 of these calls now, both with strong Indian accents, one hung up and the other unconvincingly assured me my details would be removed from their database.

Call from 06468451872 claiming it was market research. I explained I was not interested and asked to be removed from the database. Caller became threatening saying he would call every day.

Another silent call.  Getting cross.

These people just won't stop calling - all 'Indian' accents (as far as I can tell).  two or three times in a day - different people, but same company asking if I am 'The gentleman of the house'.  When i asked who they were, they hung up on me ........ but called back again and again.  i'm on TPS and ex-directory - not given my number out to strangers so this baffles me.  I'll contact my phone provider and log a complaint.

Why can't our phone companys block these calls?

Give us a number to call after receiving such a call, which automatically registers the previous call as a nuisense call.
When enough complaints have been received, the phone company should block that number.

Failing that, next time I'm going to give my name as Robbie Williams and make up lots of silly answers :-)

I keep getting calls from what sounds like an indian call centre 'is this the lady of the house speaking?'. Multiple times in one day, when I asked to speak to a manager and threatened to report them for harassment they said they were a survey/ poll based in Harpenden. Wish I could do something about them.

After recieving a number of calls for companies trying to sell me something I asked a legal firm where they got my details. They said from a market research company Phruit Ltd.
After contacting them and pointing out that I am registered with the TPS they finally said that a survey was conducted by the Lifestyle Research Centre, who work EXCLUSIVELY with Phruit Ltd.
So even though Lifestyle Research Centre may be based abroad, as they are acting for Phruit a UK company. Phruit are responsible for companies who act on their behalf.
So report them.

Hopefully i have found the solution.  I did a little research on the internet and found out that Consumer Survey Centres is owned by the following company http://www.phruit.co.uk/ .  When I rang they were very pleasant and agreed to take me off their mailing list, I have yet to see if this works but if everybody pesters them and reports them to Ofcom maybe these nuisance calls will stop.

March 2012 and they are still at it but now calling with Number Unavailable shown and saying they are calling "on behalf of British Consumers" and pretending that it is Market Research!

They claimed to be calling from Manchester even though they were clearly overseas (from the line quality with an echo on the line etc) and the guy calling today had an odd blend of an Indian and Eastern European accent rather than the normal all runallmywordstogethersir standard form of Indian English.

I've just had a call from these folk and they don't sound as though they are conducting genuine market research

By the way genuine MR companies do not have to screen against TPS lists - it's marketing and sales calls that are coverered by TPS, though the TPS doesn't appear to have any ability to stop calls

I went onto the Phruit website - there is an option to unsubscribe, though to do so you need to enter full contact details (including email address - I wasn't prepared to give them this, so just put xxxx@xxx.com as it insisted on have something entered). On completing the form the message you get is...


'Thank you

As you have requested that your information not be disclosed to any further companies in the future your details will be held by Phruit for exclusionary purposes only.'


No idea what their 'exclusionary purposes' might be but it doesn't sound good.

Just had a new overseas team operating the same sting but now under the name of Global Equity News of pretending to do a market research survey asking about the state of the economy and then whether you hold any investments or have bought any recently,

From his accent and my previous dealings with Be Unlimited the caller was clearly Bulgarian and I could hear that other callers in the same call centre next to him were also Bulgarian.  When I challenged him that weren''t they going to sell my data to people who would call me about Carbon Equities, Rare Earth Metals and Fine WInes as investments he denied it but in such a way that it was obvious it was true and he knew the games was up.

In this case the number was just straightforward Internatiional/Unavailable rather than a faked UK telephone number.  If you get a call from Global Equity News do not complete the survey or you will be pestered with calls from numerous different variants of the Boiler House investments scam.

Is this really who they are? I'm so fed up

"Lifestyle Research Centre" has apparently found my name and number. The first half dozen times they called I politely declined to answer their questions. After I received 3 phone calls from these jokers within the space of an hour-- I kid you not --yeah, I'm not so polite anymore. Nobody can seem to tell me how they got my phone number, nobody can seem to tell me where they are calling from (sounds like India/Pakistan to me). This started less than a week after I moved to UK from USA and got married. Do these yahoos troll the immigration offices? Seriously looking into foghorn in a can.....
