We registered with TPS some years ago and it did seem to work at the time. No more double glazing or kitchen calls anyway. But now this number and a host of other 0800 numbers are constantly calling week after week. We now just leave the answer phone on and only pick up when we want to speak to the caller, most of whom ring off anyway. Family and friends all know we do this. Another trick is to ring your doorbell and then keep them hanging on for ten minutes while you speak to your fictitious door caller. When only one call in five is genuine I do think the TPS isn't really working as it should. Anyway, I thought 0800 numbers were FREEPHONE so how come they keep ring us?

I have bought some good quality hand shears, and am currently writing this on my smartphone whilst I dangle 30 feet in the air, suspended just over the telephone line extending from AyJay Direct Marketing Ltd, aka Home Energy Saver. No longer shall this disreputable company plague you.

We are  continuously getting calls from this number and we do not now answer the call when this number appears on caller display. However it is still most annoying to leave jobs or meals to answer the phone and find it to be a complete waste of time. Can it be stopped?

We too are getting frequent unwanted calls from this number and have been doing so for a while now. Despite being registered with the TPS and politely asking these callers not to call again, they ignore this request and the calls continue! Sometimes they call and they don't even speak and they just hang up when we answer. We've had three silent calls already this morning. I'm in the process of taking legal action. Watch this space!

Received a withheld number call at 6 this morning then further 2 calls today from the 0800 number. They hung up each time when I answered. What's the point of that?!

Got a telephone call from this number on 13.09.2010, the number had shown up on my phone numerous times when I had been out.  It was trying to sell cavity wall insulation.  We are on the telephone preference list not to receive marketing calls, but this one got through.

Me too.  What I do is pick up the phone but don't say anything and wait for them to get bored.  Or I answer and put the phone down immediately; either way they pay to be connected and it wastes their time.  TPS probably won't do anything as they are a waste of space too.

I too have been receiving multiple calls from this number.  Despite being ex-directory and registered with TPS.  They call regularly when I'm out which actually costs me money because my answer phone is set to SMS me with missed calls so that I can return them.

As its a free call to them all I can suggest is we keep phoning them and hanging on the line so that it costs them some money!!

If this knowledge about 0800 028...... numbers is out there then surely TPS cannot ignore all our complaints about telephone abuse.
Not for you to sort out obviously, CardiffEd, but you seem to have access to good information.

I rang the freephone number but it was constantly busy. We are members of TPS but they have no influence on companies calling from outside the UK. The law should be changed to stop cold calls, silent calls, or any kind of uninvited selling. Come to think of it, it has recently but the impact needs to be felt by heavily fining AyJayDirect Marketing Ltd/Home Energy Saver.

I'm registered with the TPS yet these b*st*rds keep ringing me. That's illegal.
They're just a bunch of con-men. The website gives no details just airy-fairy promises about the Government giving you a grant.
They should be exposed on Watchdog.

Nuisance call regarding "home insulation that you are entitled to"

Call received precisely at 13.07 on Wednesday 03 November 2010.

The female voice asked to speak to Mrs or Miss XXXXXXX saying it was regarding "home insulation that you are entitled to"

After I asked if anyone asked them to call this number; she became very aggressive and then ended the call.

Had two calls from this number in the space of 10 mins. The first time when i picked up all i heard was  music in the background. said hello a couple of times before someone said hello back before hanging up.The second time they called i did not get to the phone in time before it stopped ringing. Starting to get annoyed with these callers now as we are with tps.

got call about 13:30  16/11/1010 - no answer, just silence and then hung up.  Did 1471 and got '08000280001- There maybe a charge if you call back'- AH HA!  Thats the game- they call you up and hang up, then you call back to find out who called (like you should give a [***]) and then they collect the charges!  I get these deadbeat calls all the time- or from some git so far away you can hear the interfearance and can't speak english!  This is harrasment, but like they care.  Questionare and market research calls are an invation of the home and should be illigal.  Just pop a panflit in the letter box so I can bin it at my conveniance!
