Police are involved so any information on this company would be greatfully recieved."

Yet another call from this company, (now called something different but admit they used to be Ay Jay Direct Marketing). I phoned their 0800 number and explained I was fed up with their calls, A pleasant young lady asked for my phone number and postcode and said she would get the number taken off the phone database at once. Though they didn't respond or act on my request by e-mail a few days ago.

Over the last few weeks, 08000280001 has called me about half a dozen times.   I dive for the phone, pick it up, and, even though there have only been a couple of rings, the other end rings off the moment I get the handset to my ear.   Automatic dialling software this bad is little short of harassment.

We get calls from this number all times of day and night but there is never anyone there. as soon as I pick up the line goes dead.
What we need in this country is an effective TPS type agency who would take action against nuisance callers like AyJayDirect.

    Hoax PC Security Calls
I have received a call from this number today and in fact for about 6 times for the past 5 days.  I answered with a foreign sounding person on the other end (hard accent).

The person who spoke said that "I had accidentally downloaded some files from some website and that they had Microsoft Certified Engineers on site to deal with the problem and they would walk you through the fix".

When challenging the company name I had no idea what the response was.  Then when challenging how they knew that I had downloaded files I threw the "Oh you've hacked me then" at them to which the guy says "we have Microsoft Engineers on site to help".

When challening for the website that I had "accidentally" downloaded files from the guy hangs up and the phone goes dead.

Just a warning I am an IT Engineer and I can confirm for those of you who would be unaware these calls would never ever take place.  You would have to initiate the call intially with a helpesk of some sort.

Please do not fall into this trap where they may later ask you for bank or credit/debit card details.  Too many people have been stung by this in the past.

Also reported to TPS.  As another user pointed out, you are required by law to check the register regularly.  Our number has been on there for years, so no excuse.

6 annoying calls today from this number today - bunch of idiots from  a recently bankrupt firm that has changed trading names. Do not go anywhere near these cowboys! They are no doubt surviving off government subsidies under the masquerade of energy saving!

Mr 'had it upt to here' guy replies to Mr Nice Guy
People are on TPS beacuse they don't want cold calling, let's face it who does!. And to be rung by an automatic caller system, where if an telesales op isn't available it just hangs up, is very annoying. As for Mr Nice Guy, I am sure that the Home Safety Officer at his local police station  would welcome him to invite a person he doesn't know, from a company he has never heard off to look around his home..free of charge of course, and give him a quote for work that he needs doing, which if it isleft any longer would cost him much more than they have quoted. They would also give him a hanky to wipe his tears on once he has realised that he had in fact been ripped off...yet another story for Watch Dog no doubt. No one likes to be rung up and asked a load of question by someone they can't see, even if they are a nice polite English chap. Most people know when work needs doing on their homes, gardens or driveways without people ringing them up and telling them. If they wanted it done, they would look in the yellow pages, on the web or use word of mouth. It's only the foolish who let a total stranger into their homes without checking them out first.

    The Truth replies to Jenna
I suspect you aren't entirely telling the truth Jenna. Clearly the company is there to make money, calling you at 1:15am is unlikely to result in a sale! It wouldn't be profitable to have staff working at that time. What probably happened is the agent called you at a more sensible time, you got arsey, wouldn't listen and refused to understand that it wasn't the agent's fault. The agent then, after 50 odd hours a week of speaking to people like you then took your number home and called you as a windup.
Bad yes but entirely your own fault. Next time simply say politley "Sorry, No thanks" and replace the handset. Simple.
