The joy of the modern phone is that it can store numbers.  Sales call are fairly obvious numbers so I just ignore them, look them up on here at my leisure and then log the number.  I have 6 numbers for Yell now... all of them being ignored.
If it was an annual check up call I wouldn't mind, but these are 5or 6 times a week min. Very annoying.
I regularly update my TPS details, but this legislation has no teeth as I have never heard of it being enforced.

I work for Yell, and our salesforce is recognised as the best in the UK , not just for sales but Customer Satisfaction.

Some of the reviews written on here is laughable to say the least. Some of the claims being made are not only untrue but extremely slanderous.

Our online Business Directory (Yell.com) is recognised as the number1 Business directory online.

From what I can see on here.... Is a few people who have went out of business or stopped trading for one reason or another and just fancy having a pop at someone for it.

I've no axe to grind but they're a damn nuisance and it must be bordering on harassment the amount of times they needlessly call.  If i require any assistance i'll ring them not the other way round!!! And i'm still in business although that's thanks to my marketing not YELLS

You do genuinely get a free one-line listing but then they will try to upsell you an enhanced listing at some stage ...... and I promise I don't work for Yell and am not trying to promote them!! (The only reason I came onto this website was to find out who was ringing my mobile and it was them - although I didn't answer as I never do if I don't know the number or if the number is withheld). I always work on the premise that if they're worth speaking to they will leave a message (they invariably don't)!! :-)

Completely agree - I store any nuisance calls in my directory as 'DON'T ANSWER 1, 2 etc' !! :-)

Nonsense, I sent a letter to Yell when I cancelled my annual advertisement, in the letter I specifically requested that they did not contact me again as I no longer require their services.  Still getting calls.

    In response to Boydy...

Your sales staff are pushy and are a nuisance.

I signed up for a free ad to make getting my an SSL certificate for my website easier.  I few weeks later I got a very pushy sales call that only ended when I only responded with "I don't care, I have no need for any additional services, and will not be spending any budget now or in the future".  Despite this, I get repeat calls every few months.

I appreciate Yell is a business and that you want to convert free customers into paying customers, but you must also appreciate that if your sales attempts feel more like harassment, then we'll feel aggrieved.  The fact that people can be bothered to post to a website is indicative of that.

    Terry,

You and I both know that people will post online for the sake of it. It wouldnt actually suprise me if half the people on this post havent actually had any calls from us..

People just like to moan when they get a chance.

We have a salesforce of over 3000 staff, who are recognised as the best sales staff in the UK if not the world!!!

We have recently signed online alliances with Google and also Microsoft, (who are arguably two of the biggest brands in the world)

Why did they want to sign with Yell??????????

I will tell you why.... Because they wanted the benefits of our salesforce... Simple as that..

We are the best out there...  If people dont like our calls then thats fine, there are ways to be taken off our dialling list... Logging onto websites like this and saying we should be shot etc etc is NOT the way to go about it.

Just had a call from 0800 108579. "This is Imran from Google just making a courtesy call to see how you're doing with.........". I smelled a rat instantly. We work with Google directly and they never make these sorts of calls. I was busy and told him I'd call him back to which he said "We don't have direct lines. I'll email you." Of course he never did.

The thing that annoys me is that he'd posed as Google rather than tell me he was from Yell (who I know are a Google agency). Now this is pure 100% misrepresentation and should not be tollerated. If this is scripted then Yell should know better. If this case of a loose cannon then "Imran" should be rooted out and fired. Such behaviour is unacceptable.

Thanks for the bit about Microsoft, are we now going to get Indians with western names ringing to say they are Yell on behalf of Microsoft and we have a computer virus?  BTW in your earlier post it is "people who have GONE out of business", not "people who have "WENT out of business. Not a very good impression of Yell.

haha Nan... a perfect example of how sad people on these forums can be... totally laughable... Correcting my grammar hahahaha.....

And in regards to someone calling from Yell and then saying they are from Google... If im being honest I dont believe you that they said that... but if they did, its definetly not scripted... We are in a stategic online parrtnership with Google.. And that is how it should be worded. We are not scripted at all , *(like other call centres) we are the best sales force on the planet because we inject our own personalities into the call. NO SCRIPT REQUIRED

whoever it was who said "oh are we going to get people calling from india claiming to be microsoft" You should go away and get a life and stop making pointless (bordering on racist) comments about what may or may not happen.

Yell is an institution, one of britains most trusted and well respected brands... and because of people like you its name is being dragged through the mud.. Totally pathetic if you ask me..

And Nan ..... When you say BTW that should actually say By the way... This is not text land... If you are going to pull someone else up then you should at least make sure you are flawless :)

Yeah good luck with that potty... Yet another pointless and sad comment on this site... Get a life!!! You should turn your phone off when you are in the Royal Albert Hall.... or more like when you are in your living room pretending to be a musician...

If you or anyone else on this site wants to do something else other than post on forums give me a shout and I will sort you an advert out :) And you never know potty ... you may get a gig somewhere a bit more upmarket than playing to your cat in the living room.

Boydy, after reading all your childish and sarcastic comments why would anyone believe Yell.com have the best sales force now? If you do work for Yell you've just helped drag your own name through the mud. Well done!

Lol at your comment Jase, I am merely having a laugh at how pathetic people can be on these forums, the fact that im having a laugh at this has nothing to do with Yell or how good its salesforce is... Listen to yourself Jase, you have basically said... "yells 4000 strong salesforce isnt the best because you have came on here and obliterated pointless comments on this site" Haha get a grip..

We are humans who have a sense of humour and a life outwith work.. Thats like saying a policeman isnt allowed to drink alcohol when hes off duty.... "oh if hes drunk with his mates at the weekend that must mean hes a bad policeman"  LOL... I make valid points in every post I have made here... so far no1 has presented me with any evidence of the hideous crimes yell are accused of.

    Boydy :)
