- PandAReply to Boydy. I doubt very much if you are or ever have been an employee of Yell. If you are then I am extremely surprised that they would allow any employee to show their company in such bad light. It seems obvious to me that you just enjoy winding people up through forums such as this. Its time to move on now Boydy. Go and find another outlet for your frustrations. By the way (or BTW if you prefer) who the hell uses words like outwith - which literally mean without. Do you really mean life without work or is that your true situation? Time to get a life - with or with work!

- Dick| 1 reply18 calls in three days starting at 7am and the last one at 11:30pm.
Everytime you answer it hangs up, you call back and its an answer machine.
Had enough, emailed Yell and no reply, this has to be against the law?- Caller: Yell.com
- RAMBO replies to Raven CawHI FOLKS DO WHAT I DO. IF YOU HAVE A FAX MACHINE KEEP SENDING A FAX TO THEM. IT'S FREE AND FAXES WILL KEEP RINGING NUMBER OVER AND OVER AGAIN BUT WILL NEVER GO AS ITS NOT A FAXLINE AT THEIR END. SET FAX TO RING AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE.
- DavidI just recieved a call from this number, they wanted to tell me about new categories that would affect my free listing.
I asked him to send me an email with details of this change, he said he could but could show me now online.
The scouser voice asked if I could go online and he would do a co-browser session to show me his screen so I knew how to log in and make changes myself to my free entry business description.
I do not run software from anyone on my computer and would not recommend others to do so unless you are 100% sure you know who is at the other end and their intentions.- Caller: Yell

- AmyFor me this is getting beyond a joke! I changed my mobile number to get away from junk like this, i seem to be getting 10 calls every single day, whenever i did answer, silence and then they hung up, i'm sick and tired, if the persistant calls don't stop i shall be making a complaint!
- Caller: Yell.com
- Amy replies to DickSame here, there must be some way of getting around it, it's basically harrasment!
- chrisi have had loads of calls from Yellow pages and Thompson's phone book regarding updating my free advert in there book an on their websites.
they say, but it will only cost 50 pence a day to upgrade you advert. 50 pence not a lot of money, but when you not working it all adds up.- Caller: Yell (Yellow pages)
- phranklinIt's the dreaded Yell - trying to persuade you to upgrade from your free basic listing to paid advertising in their on-line and paper directories.
Incidentally why does the 'call type' box in the 'whocallsme' report form not include the description "sales call" amongst the options? Surely it's going to be one of the standard types isn't it? The alternative is to leave it as 'unknown' which is of no value to others when it obviously is known!.- Caller: Yell
- Bob-a-job replies to RobertThere is such a thing. I am listed on their site for free. ;)
- YELLO?They ring me constantly. They left me a message today saying they have tried on several occassions to get hold of me. Surely they should take the hint that I am not interested? If they have rang more than 3 times why are they still hounding me? It feels like its bordering on harrassment now.

- MarkDo these guys NEVER GIVE UP, over 200 missed calls in 2 weeks from 0800108579...
How can this be allowed...- Caller: yell.com
- DHad about 4 missed calls in quick succession yesterday and looked it up here. Left me quite put off and not looking forward to further calls.
They called just now and I decided to answer, he announced himself as Yell and we went through a little dance as he mentioned various products and confirmed details he already had.
I was pleasant to him and he was pleasant to me, so overall not so bad.- Caller: Yell

- dave rRang and left no message. I will not be advertising with companies that do this.
- NatashaI work for a small business owner, and the Yell staff are so incredibly pushy!
The lady I work for has a very hectic life, juggling kids, a business and her husband going on business trips.
The yell staff called us several times, at first it was just me saying "I'm very sorry, my boss isn't here, can I leave a message for her?" if I asked them to call back at a certain time they never did.
Then the same bloke would call back the next day and just expect my boss to be there. This went on for about 3 weeks, until I said "Look, I'm sure by now, my boss would have got in contact with you if she was desperate for something. I think maybe she's not interested."
I put down the phone, 3 seconds later it rang again! me: "Please can you stop calling? Its getting rather annoying now." I put the phone down.
Phone rings again!!! I ignore it and the Yell.com man leaves a message saying "Hello this is John from the Yellow pages, I keep calling but your PA is obviously incompetent and keeps putting the phone down on me. Please can you ring me back on xxx-xxxx-xxxx"
WHAT. BLOODY. CHEEK!
Obviously Yell.com don't know what no means! They are just completely relentless, and very very rude.- Caller: Yell.com
- NatashaAlso, I'd just like to add-
The only people saying Yell.com is any good on this are the people who work for Yell.com!
Maybe they should actually *LISTEN* to their customers instead of saying we're lying or ranting on about how their company is so great.- Caller: yell.com
- Wedding Car driverHad a extremely forceful telesales call from 0800 108 579 on 25/10/12 at first used the guise that wanted to check my listing details were correct on yell.com this very quickly turned into a fast moving sales pitch, I straight away made an attempt to stop it saying telling him I know a sales pitch when I hear one after all I have heard hundreds and Yell had rang me every almost every 2 month for the last 6 months and I keep saying I am not interested in upgrading to paid advertising, I appreciate honesty and I am going to be honest, I am not going to be taking up a paid advert I am happy with the free listing, and lets face it people use Google to search for things these days anyway I don't know anyone that use Yell to find anything anymore, he simply proceeded to go off with a mass barrage of information and basically guaranteed we would get masses of work from it, he wouldn't let me get a word in despite what I had told him, he wanted me to go on-line and sign into his system so he could show me an example, and send me a couple of emails which he would need me to instantly send back to him, I said I had to go, he had almost made me late from collecting my daughter from school, to which he said he would call later, I said I don't have the funds for the extra advertising right now so don't bother. My head was left in a whirl I wasn't giving chance to think, this call had lasted over an hour if I remember correctly.
So later the phone started ringing at 18:25, 18:31, 18:35 & 18:44 all on 25/10/12 from 0800 108 579 when he didn't ring again that night I presumed he had got the message, that was until 10:54 26/10/12 the next morning when my wife answered the phone to him, he had the cheek to say to her that I was almost ready to sign the deal the previous day, I had completely filled her in on what had happened, she told him that we were not prepared to pay to upgrade our advert, he kept trying to play me off against my wife saying I had said completely different, I was sat in the same room listening to everything, he was trying everything he could to get her to agree, he had really annoyed my wife by doing this though as she knew exactly what I had said.
The conversation ended with her clearly demanding that he must under no circumstances call these premises again, as there is no way we would ever pay to advertise with a company that carries out their business in this manner.
Joy of joys 9/11/12 10:31 Guess who has just had a silent call from 0800 108 579 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I registered last week with the TPS not that I expect they will do anything anyway, if I keep getting them I wonder if offcom would be interested ?
I have since found what the couple of emails are he wanted to send me and send back without opening or reading - which is exactly what he said, they are contract for adertising as soon as you send them back you have digitally signed a contract and you will then receive a bill for anything from £300 upwards, EVERYONE PLEASE BE VERY WARY OF THIS AND DO NOT SEND BACK THE EMAILS UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY TO ADVERTISE, AND DO NOT SEND ANYTHING BACK WITHOUT FIRST OPENING AND READING EVERYTHING INCLUDING ALL ATTACHMENTS, I googled Yell advertising and found lots of horror stories which if ever I was in any doubt before,, they would have certainly made my mind up.- Caller: YELL.COM

- rick replies to joits soooo obvious you work for yell.com its painful!!!
- The DudeI hope Yell do read these, doubt it as they seem to spend all day ringing people like me. However as they come up on my phone with a big skull and cross bones I have no problems not answering. I remember they were horrendously pushy, to the point where I actively wouldn't choose them even if I decided to spunk money away on even the most ineffective of advertisers. I would rather pay a goat in the outer Hebrides to wear a sign with my name on it than Yell, and the goat would reach more customers! I don't wish unemployment on anyone but I cannot wait for Yell to fold, shouldn't be too long now chaps! TPS is an absolute joke in this regard, in fact it wouldn't surprise me if TPS supplied the numbers to companies such as Yell in some kind of corrupt, morbid clusterf*ck to shaft people who try to avoid these calls. Out of interest, the chap who I used to get was an Irish dude, sure it was the same guy. Is there a way to put 0800 108 579 on some kind of telemarketing list where they just get bombarded with calls, might look into doing something like that, anyway toodles!
