Called today about 5 mins ago about repaying debts at a lower rate. Automated call. Hang up immediately as could be one of those lines that charge you for the call. My number is BT, but ex-directory, so would love to know how they are getting my number.!

Same story. I am with the TPS and have an ex-directory line, yet this number keeps calling me with their automated dialer and recorded messages about debt management. If I hang on to speak to an operator to tell them to stop calling, they slam the phone down on me.

Same thing. We are with virgin media and ex directory. Isn't it funny how about 6 weeks after I apply for help with a budgeting loan from the social fund they start calling. If I press nine to stop them calling the line goes dead.

Am now reporting to the telephone preference service as I am fed up of about two calls a day.

Somemessage left waffling on about debts and they can rub them out (RUBBISH) but only if it's £3,000 or more, what a con, how are companys like this allowed to rip of the most needy of people, every year a new scam arrives involving "New government guidelines", remember the insurance/endowment mortgage/accident claims, all turned out to be a con where unscrupilous solicitors and companys make a fortune out of those who need it most.
Complain to your phone providers everytime they ring you with this rubbish.

Just had a call from this number and googled it - I let my machine pick up and no message left of course.  I have signed up to TPS and am with TalkTalk and ex-directory.  Also concerned it may charge if you answer so now feel I need to switch off my machine.

I just let them ring. No-one calls me when the news is on. I'll write to BT and ask them who it is.

An automated dialler related to debt recovery.

I changed my telephone number recently to avoid this sort of call and have not given my new number out, and I can only assume that one of the companies I owe money to has a contact in a call centre who has passed on my number to them.  [***].

I'm going to report them for harassment.

calling me on a daily basis despite being ex-directory and caller preference service - am now complaining to service provider. They tell you that pressing 9 stops them calling - it doesn't!
I don't have debts and I don't want this service!

I just got the call too. Didn't bother picking it up.

For those of you wondering how they get your number, they don't. They are essentially conducting a war-dialling exercise, but looking for people rather than modems. They call every number in the UK probably, many of which aren't even assigned.

I called tps about this.  Apparently, we can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at mail@ico.gsi.gov.uk or 01625 545745.  They can't use these recorded messages unless they have your prior consent.

i am fed up with them calling so i ring them back on their 0800 number and they play their message which asks you to press either 5 or 9 to either talk to them or stop their calls i don't press anything so their message keeps repeating after the occasional that was an invalid selection so i don't hang up and they have to pay for the call. if we all did this it may jam them up
