It Called Me 2 Times Today Range Once Then It Stopped And I Dialled 1471 It Said 08001585655

I have received loads of these calls. Trouble is, this is a business line!! I phoned them back and pressed 5.

WHen I explained it was a business line, the chap said he would put our number on the no call list which is updated at 9pm each day.

So here's hoping!!!!!

They are clearly flouting the law so why hasn't the ICO done anything about them?

We called them back twice and they just slammed the phone down when we told them that they are using an illegal sales method.

When we asked to speak to a manager, they were all busy. So it's to the ICO, Trading Standards and BT we go.  Stockport is notorious for having telesales companies using illegal techniques.  Wirral Trading Standards are quite good, but very busy!

Connected with 'sales rep' who called me a "bum" when I objected to this type of cold calling.

Caller display can relieve your anxiety, if you do not recognise the number then do not reply: to reply lets them know your number is active.

Still ringing me - again ex-directory - glad I found this - will try some of suggestions - I never answer my phone now due to so many of these calls - how ridiculous is that!

TPS registered. Don't want their help, but they don’t give a flying fig. They just keep calling …..
Proof as ever that the 'responsible bodies' (Phone suppliers, Government, etc.) don’t care, and that the companies themselves feel they are above the law, and that they really are a bunch of.......
Using the ‘9’ option didn't take me off the calling list showing they are ‘untruth tellers’ (if I was to suggest they were liars, would this make me liable under libel laws?).
The missing word? – Tossers!

This is Churchwood Financial I have just spoken to them and told them to take me off their list, I pressed 5 to talk to an advisor, and he barred both my mobile number and landline so dont bother pressing 9 when asked to stop theses calls press 5 and speak to an advisor who will apologies and bar your numbers. JOB DONE

That's a great idea someone posted - phone them back (don't use redial).
I'm just listenting to their greeting over and over quietly in the background as I work - and they're paying for it!

Churchwood Financial are like the Terminator: they can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse. And they absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Called me just now. I did not answer. Hopefully if I keep on not answering they will just go away.

Though it is useful to be ex-dir and with TPS, people based in one country with calls routed through another with an aim to make money are unlikely to care.

Don't answer the phone if this number rings!

We have also been experiencing calls from this number.  We are ex-directory AND with TPS but still get calls.  Usually they are at some un-godly hour of the day/night.  We've stopped answering our phone, even to other calls.

I have been nursing my dying mother - heart breaking to see her suffer and glad when she can sleep. That is until the phone rings (twice a day) and wakes her. It upsets her; it upsets me. It's those unpleasant 0800 158 566 55 people with their recorded message. So now I have the phone unplugged and just leave the answering machine with the volume turned low to take our calls. Difficult though, when one is expecting calls from the medics.
Less that five minutes after my mum had passed away they called again.
I hope those people suffer as much as my mum did and that they rot in hell for the nuisance that they are. They might prefer to get a proper job if they realise just how much they are detested! Pond scum would be preferable to them.

Have only rec'd two calls from this number in the last week but will pursue them to the endth degree if it doesn't stop as I'm sick and tired of being ignored by these and other callers despite being Ex D and regitered with TPS...these appear to be coming from Churchwood Financial and I have just e-mailed them on enq@churchwoodfinance.co.uk requesting immediate removal from their system otherwise I will take this much much further unitl it stops.  A letter is also on it's way to ICO; BT; Trading Standards and my MP - it's about time someone started to sort this lot out.

I keep getting the calls and Virgin have told me to call 0845 0700 707 to register my number so no sales calls can be placed to my home telephone number (they also do businesses as well) FINGERS CROSS!

Just realised this number I have proudly shared is for TPS, so I guess after reading all of your comments TPS are going to do diddly squat so I am no longer proud and relieved!
The question is if I leave my answer phone switched off will it just continue to ring and ring and ring?
Or If I email them to ask them to stop will they then flood me with emails as well as calls? So many decisions!

BLOODY NUISANCE RECORDED MESSAGES ASKING IF WE NEED HELP WITH DEBT. IM ALSO EX DIRECTORY AND  WOULD ALSO LOVE TO KNOW HOW THEY GOT MY NUMBER....GRRR IM SO SO SICK OF IT!!!

After being plagued with calls from this number i eventually tracked down the company (you can find the details on www.churchwoodfinance.co.uk, 6th Floor Kingsgate, Wellington Road North,Stockport, Cheshire, SK4 1LW...The guy i am now holding responsible should these continue is (and he is an extremly arrogant guy) is a BEN HILTON (his number is 0800 2800 051, who claims to be a manager with the company). I have spoken to this company several times and their attitude stinks to say the least. I am an accountant and (as this is a finance based company as well) know the avenues available to really hurt their business or even put them out the business. My email is jmjgrouptax@aol.com, if anyone needs assistance with this... I personally would like nothing more than to wipe the smug attitude off the officials of this companys face. I will assistance free of charge any individual on a side issue to register with the telephone preference service, when they dont comply with this (which they did with me) it is an automatic £3,000 fine per individual... Believe me on top of the heavy fine they would likely recieve from the Financial Services Authority it wouldnt take too many complaints to make these guys go away.

Hi Another valid point which one of you chaps has just mentioned... This number is of course a freephone number (which Churchwood Pays for by the minute). If you dial the number you will note that it goes round and round in a loop if you dont press any of the option keys... Now I would in no way suggest this but perhaps a devious person would simply dial this number and leave if off the hook so that whilst your getting your 8 hours sleep they will be charged for 480 minutes at maybe around 15p per minute which is around £72 per night, now if some one did that every night for a year thats over £26,000 per year straight off there bottom line. Morally they waste my time and still ignore me when i ask them to stop... so if they really want my attention they can have it...Oh By the way i have lots of telephone lines in my business that are not needed to be used on an evening (5 actually) so if i was really devious (and i am not of course) I could set all 5 off from 5pm till 9am the following morning (and all through the weekend)...if my maths still ok then that would work out to around 2 million minutes (per year) which i think is charged at around 15p per min to churchwood...that sounds very expensive even for just one little person like me, in fact thats around £300,000 per year...hell before you know it you will have plagues of unhappy people visiting phone boxes in remote places and simply dialing there number and leaving it off the hook.  They have ignored me so far... i bet i can grab there attention now folks
