This is a genuine number that goes through to Yell. They are not trying to sell you anything it is simply to update free entry details for your business. There is nothing bogus about this number.  Every business is ELIGIBLE for one free entry for their business. This is dealt with COMPLETELY SEPARATELY to paid adverts.

Have just received a call from someone called Shireen claiming to be from Yell and wanting to update our free listing,she checked on name of company, telephone number (obviously correct as that is the number she dialled) then started asking how many people worked for the company (what has that got to do with free listing) e-mail address (didn't give her it) then she asked me for my surname (told her no way was she getting that and as far as I was aware you do not need to give your surname out to anyone over the phone. She then said that unfortunately she could not proceed any further which I said was fine as it was her ringing me not the other way round and that she would pop something in the post. I have now decided that anyone who needs our details will be asked to post things to us, if they can't then we are not interested. Other people should try the same thing, they will soon get sick of ringing.

I had this today - interested to know why they are calling ex-directory number!

This number rung my mobile at 9.17 am on 17th December 2010.They hung up when I answered.Google this number before I returned the call, glad I did.

I had this no. call me but I just ignored it with a simply click of my mouse because I bought a phone number through skype. If I had all these phone calls actually on my real home phone and I had to get up and answer it I would have ripped my phone out the wall by now!! Get a skype phone number to put on ebay, websites and stuff otherwise you will get spammed to death by these callers! I don't even give my real phone number to the likes of o2, electricity companies or anyone as none of them can be trusted! They will all sell your number to the highest bidder!! Costs £11 quid for 3 months but it beats being interupted by rude sales callers.

Rings every day - don't answer - just a nuisance checking on who it is calling.

Keep getting calls from this number when out but they never leave a message.  I am registered with telephone preference service so unsolicited calls should not be received!

I have had many of these calls, when they ask me for my details I tell them I don't have a listing with them, they say I do as that is where they got my phone number I say it must be a free one then, they say we don't do free ones!!!!!! Then start getting stroppy when I say I don't want one, try to tell me I can't run a business without them. Could have fooled me!

This number is part of Yell Ltd. Its an incomming number for the Free Line Entry Deptartment a.k.a Business File. It is a genuine free listing although they do try and seek to ask if your interested in further advertising.

The call back number they give is 0800533433 - why can't they just take calls on the number they are calling from?

I don't want your unsolicited calls. That means I don't want you to call me.

I haven't asked you to call me, so don't call me. I don't even advertise with you.

What part of the above do you not understand?

I missed 2 calls from this number but having seen the other updates on here I now know who they are, although a telephone search did not tell me for definite, as they called my mobile I will not be even attempting to return the call as it would cost me a fortune!

Received call from this number today. I'm sick of getting unsolicited calls even though I'm signed up to the TPS. My mobile ringtone is Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb and it got nowhere near the word "Hello" which is when I usually get to my phone to answer!

I have been receiving calls from this number on and off for several weeks, they never last long enough for me to answer but it disturbs my work. Googled them just now, interesting information, thanks to all those who've taken time and trouble to post, I know who these people are now.

Rang me this morning.Didnt have time to answer, and i am sure they rang the other day but only for about 4 seconds. very strange.

0800 calls are free from BT landlines. Other telephone service providers, such as Vodafone and TalkTalk, charge. No one gives personal details to outdoor strangers, so why give personal info to cold unknown callers and ID theft scammers? As a retired pensioner, I don't have any paid or free business listings in Yellow Pages or Yell.com. So, who is an unlearned or ignorant idiot here?

i see that everyone is saying that this is number belongs to yellow pages/yell.com, but I have started receiving these calls fairly frequently which I haven't answered.  My question is why are they calling me if i don't have a listing with either company and that my number is a personal number not a business number.  if anyone could shed some light, I would be grateful

Had a call from this number today. Didn't answer, thanks for the comments as now have some idea who they are.

I'm not listed in the yellow pages or on yell.com yet they ring me nearly every day!

Now, I DO advertise with Yell.com, but when someone with a dodgy foreign accent starts asking me for details that they should already have, I start to get a bit narky.  I don't want any more advertising, and I don't want to hear about your super offers.  And no, you can't have my personal email address......
All well and good saying they're yell, but what proof do I have?
