- Paul KitchingCalled by person claiming to be from Barclays Bank at approximately 4:57pm. They said they wanted to ask me a few questions about fraud. I was suspicious after they asked me to give them the person who I shared the account with so I asked if I could call them back.
- Helen MuntThey were genuine - though I called a different Barclays number to check. Barclays do an excellent job of nipping fraudsters in the bud!
Always call a number you know to be genuine rather than take the risk. - JNMJNMJust called Barclays today:
THIS IS A FRAUDULENT NUMBER.
IGNORE IT - CALL THE NUMBER ON YOUR CARD. - K| 2 repliesIt is genuine. I work for Barclays, do you not want us to call you if you have potential fraud happening on your account?! Fine, let them take your money, fools.
- Mike replies to K| 1 replyHi K if you work for Barclays then that is no way to talk to your coutomers.
- Mike replies to MikeOh and I was called today by them today by an Indian calling himself Bernard, sure you are Bernard Patel more like, anyway long short of it, it is a genuine Barclays free phone number.

- Lewism3I to thought that this may be fraud and therefore called my telephone banking number. They clarified that this IS the number for Barclays fraud prevention.
As at matter of course, I would never call a number that has been left on a voice mail such as this. There is far too much fraud and it's better to be safe.- Caller: Barclays Fraud Prevention
- RT replies to Mike LMy mum received a message on the ansaphone today. Foreign gentleman asking Mr T to phone back (there are two Mr T's here). They did not say who they were just that they are open 24hrs a day 7 days a week. She was very suspicious but she is quite astute and decided to check it out on the net. Conflicting messages on this notice board so she phoned Barclays. 01928 584421 I have an account with them my parents, do not. They confirmed that it was from their fraud squad. She gave Barclays my card details and they said my card had been blocked. I was asked to phone the Visa section immediately which I did. I have the card in my possession. Someone had tried to use it to make 3 payments to the CIS for c £2500 . The IP address did not correspond so they declined the payment. Congratulations Barclays you are wonderful. Just shows that Visa checks do work.

- JamesI had a call from someone saying they were from Barclays fraud asking me to call them back on this number. I did, they asked for my card number, I refused. They were then unable to identify me from my name and post code, they suggested I call the number on the back of my card. I did this, then got transferred to the fraud department, who did confirm that this number was the genuine number for Barclays Fraud. I had recently attempted to make a large transaction that they explained put a hold on my. I was able to confirm security details and they have taken the hold off my card. In conclusion I would say this number is genuinely Barclays Fraud.

- Martine| 1 replyJust had a similar experience two days ago. Even though I was confirmed by my bank that they are a genuine fraud department, the thing is that they act in such an unprofessional way that you simply can't trust them. I was asked straightforward to give my card details : no way I would do that over the phone without being sure who I am talking to. Once again, very UNPROFESSIONAL from people who are supposed to make our banking online safer.
- AshThis is a valid number although I was initially concerned myself.
I ended up phoning 0845 755 5555 (Telephony fraud) dept, and asked about the number, they confirmed it was their number and patched me through.
If in doubt always go through a number on your banks website (better to be safe than sorry).- Caller: barclays
