I've just spoke to a guy from the official customer services (the number from the official website) he gave me this number to continue to remove the C2 note on the account (block).

It is legit!

I too was called and a message was left to call 0800 3891652 I read the negative posts on this site and phoned the number on the back of the card.  They didn't know the number, but there was a note on my file about possible fraud (I'd just bought something from abroad on line) and they sorted it. Bizarre that Barclays don't have it listed on their site, I asked the Indian (?) operator to rectify and he said he'd pass it up.

this is a legitimate number, I had a call this morning about a payment I tried to make online last night which was refused, I tried 3 times to do it which made Barclays suspicious so they suspended my card & call & left a message at home while I was at work.  I didn't have this number to call back (0800 3891652) so I called the number on the back of my card, they advised me the 0800 number in case I got cut off etc but they did put me through so I didn't call it.  When I got through, think the chap I talked to was Indian, he asked a few security questions, read me some of my recent transactions to confirm so obviously he had access to my account details, after around 5 mins he told me that my card was no longer suspended.

I also called Barclays customers services (the usual number I ring) & they confirmed the number is the fraud team & its all legit.

I'm happy with Barclays as its good to know they keep a check on things like this, the only annoying thing is people posting online sayings its not a legitimate number basically because they haven't had the sense to speak with Barclays to confirm this.

the number is real, barclays fraud team is diferent to barclaycards fraud team, you should be more concerned about people trying to get you to ring 0845 numbers

Under no circumstance give any card details to any number not listed on your card or official website.
Contact your local branch or fraud line numbers found listed on official sites.

This 0800 number is a fraud company opperating out of India.

I called this number after it had been left on my answering machine. Became concerned when they asked me to use the Barclays PIN Sentry that i use for internet banking and give them the resulting 8 digit code code !!!! ..... Off course i didn't and they reverted to standard security questions. Many comments say this number is genuine but you should never give this code over the phone.

This is a SCAM!! Do not give your details. They say they are Barclays but they are in India trying to get out bank details.... BE VERY CAREFUL.

Sorry to all those who think it isn't, especially to those who haven't bothered to actually verify with Barclays, but this IS a genuine number.

I used a website that asked me to authorise payment (and then Barclays withheld the payment). After receiving an email an hour or two later stating payment had failed, I then received the automated call a few (more) hours later. Unfortunately I missed it as I was unable to take the call at the time and a family member told me about it.
I tried to make the same payment again and it failed. That's when I received the automated call again.
It asked for me by my full name (how many companies do you collaborate with by your full name?) and I confirmed it was me by pressing 1.
Although I was dubious of the call, it then stated I would never be asked for any details with the exception of asking for my date of birth using a selection of options (i.e. press 1 if it is month/year, press 2 if it is month/year, press 3 etc) and followed that by doing the same with the date (of selected month/year).
The system then proceeded to tell me about my 5 last transactions and to verify whether these are genuine by pressing 1 or if not, to talk to an advisor by pressing 2. I pressed 1 and the system stated the block on my card will be removed shortly.
It's at this point that it proceeded to tell me about the phone number talked about on this web page (08003891652) along with a number to call if calling from outside the UK (a standard land line number with the international prefix which I didn't have time to type out fully to be able to check the number).
Shortly after, I was able to make the transaction I originally made.

If this number is not legitimate, then they somehow already have access to my account to block my transaction from taking place, although if I did not make any of the last five transactions and I didn't want to continue with the call, I could always have hung up at that point and dialled a number I knew was already legitimate rather than taking the one from the call itself.

Some simple tips are to:
Always verify the number you are using is correct and not a similar number. A genuine example is where a legitimate company has 2 zeros where as a telemarketer has 3 zeros, thus making some users believe what they heard was the number used by the legitimate company if they weren't listening properly or thinking it is from the legitimate company if they didn't check the number they were verifying properly.
Always ensure the number you are calling is from a genuine source. For example, is the number you are dialling either from a genuine company web page or one that is an imitation? Did you receive the number from a genuine leaflet or from a false one?

If you are in doubt, find a number you are comfortable with dialling.

You can use the following webpage to verify any number given by Barclays. However, in my opinion, this page should be made secure (using the secure connection Barclays use) to ensure you are using a legitimate page rather than using a standard web page:

The page also states the call will be automated.

Stated call type as "Event Reminder" as it is the nearest to being checked for possible fraud transactions and there is no "other" option.

Yes it is real it is Barclays. Was a pain talking about a transaction on PayPal on the 3rd.

Hi,

A very unbelievable message was left on my phone. I was immediately suspicious and after reading this thread panicked and called Barclays, who said they cannot see why they would be calling. I called the number anyway, if only to confront them! but as others have said, it was clearly a genuine number run by less than perfect call handlers. not their fault, just an odd choice to run that particular dept!! don't worry, it is them. he named the transaction that triggered the call. i forgot my rent had declined in the morning! so don't worry folks!

Hopefully this will put to bed the debate on this number. I took a call for my wife today allegedly from Barclays Fraud Prevention Team and they asked me to get her to call back on this number.  I was suspicious so I googled for 'barclays business fraud department' and the 2nd top hit returned was for this very helpful page:

It's the Barclays Fraud team and telephone number checker page.  Type in any number you are given purporting to be from Barclays Fraud Team and it will tell you if it's genuine or not.  I typed this number in and it's genuine. Please do the same to see for yourself!

This is a genuine call from barclays fraud team. I was stopped from paying a large amount earlier today and they put a stop on it to make sure it was me. I ignored the call and went in to branch to check it was genuine. They called from there and passed the phone to me for authorisation.

This is a genuine Barclay's number, I've just spoken to their customer service people. They rang my father and asked him to confirm his last transaction, as there'd been a problem with his card in m&s. He did so and was told it was unblocked. They didn't ask for any information or personal details from him.

opened a second account. Barclays deactivated both my accounts for possible fraud. couldn't access money in original account. Barclays fraud pushed me fro plllar to post..... still not sorted out and unable to use cash in account!

This appears to no longer be the Barclays Fraud number. The caller was an Indian lady (who sounded like she was in a tunnel) who told me the purpose of the phone call in a very long sentence (I don't know how she didn't pass out from not breathing) the company which basically was to switch all your utilities to them, whoever they are, and you could receive rewards.

This is a fraudulent number acting like they are barclays fraud department. They will get access to your online banking and app. That's how they can see your previous transactions. DO NOT BELIEVE THE GOOD REVIEWS!!!!!!!!!!  If you want to be sure call barclays direct from your app
