- VickityV replies to NIKI HJust put the phone down on a heavily accented caller claiming to be from PCWizard who insisted that I must carry out a check on my computer as there is a new non virus file which is causing lots of damage to windows based operating systems. When I told her no, she transferred me to her supervisor who I politely listened to and then told him I would get my PC World support guys to look into it for me. He became very rude and told me that PC World sell computers but don't offer support... mmmm, what have I been paying for then???? He then wnet on to tell me that I shouldn't be allowed to use a computer...!!!! Who are these people! I hung up on him in the end. Beware though, the first caller sounded very convincing!

- hannaread all the testimonials above and exactly the same thing, same person, same procedures. only i have no idea about computers or technology and when he started asking for money i was wary and said i had to discuss with someone who does know about these things aka my sister. and he was very persistant that i need to pay for some thing and so i became wary and decided to see what others had to say and this is when i realised what this was - a BIG FAT SCAM. i didnt pay for anything but i dont know if they have done anythinga as such to my computer or got any of my details. they did so many tests and things happened to my computer without me even being near my computer and without me clicking on anything. what do i do? and he was asian aswell with an indian accent. when i said i dont wanna do it, and to help me switch my computer off he just hung up. i immediatly called the police and cancelled all my cards and credit cards.

- Lynn 27th March| 2 repliesHad a call from an Indian chap said I had all kinds os problems on my PC . could not understand him so i ask to speak to his boss. A chap call Roger came on the phone sounded American. I was a bit naive and fell for it. Said he would clean up my pc and stupid me let him showed me the sight with security on it but when it came to money I told him I did not have a credit card and could he send me a application form and I would send a cheque. Hopefully i will be OK and lesson learnt. Calling me back in a couple of days to see if ihave managed to get a credit card. After reading what I have he will be out of luck.

- Nan replies to Lynn 27th March| 1 replyGet your machine checked out locally. These people want remote access to your computer and, if they get it, they will install spyware/malware to steal any personal info on there. If you gave this person access they have the machine checked. Microsoft and its paertners would nevwer 'phone you. It would be a breach of their privacy rules. No-one who 'phones knows anything about your computer. They rely on scare tactics and lack of computer knowledge. You would not hand your personal info to a stranger in the street so why giove it to a stranger oin the 'phone.
- LYNN replies to NanThanks for the advice will not be taken in again. Followed your advice.

His number was 0808 2801 527 claimed the company was PC Reserves then changed it to PC Wireservers. Def a scam
- Doris replies to Doris| 1 replyMe again - thought I should also say the number the guy originally gave me was 0808 2701 527 - I just thought I'd check this number and it came up with a virus warning - please be careful !!
- The Squire replies to DorisI have had the very same call. I said I would have to speak to my other half as she understands theses things better than me because she is head of IT for British Transport Police. Apparently these people try to scam BTP as well. The chap still gave me his details for her to phone. They are very good. Positively frightening!
