We have had 7 calls from PC Optimisers today alone.

The last guy got very aggreessive when I pointed I work for a large IT company and that he was talking rubbish, started saying that I should know all about Internet infections and Parasites.  He would check my system for me and correct things.

I asked how they had got our details, he replied because we had a legitimatly registered copy of windows then went on to say about how microsoft make computers, I pointed out Microsoft make the windows operating system but we didn't have a "windows/microsoft" computer.

After more discussions (I was having a little fun with him) he said that he would check over my pc to check it didnt have an internet infection or any parasites.  I asked "How Much?", the reply was for nothing and I said that was very nice that out of the goodness of his heart he is randomly calling people to check this for FREE, thats when he replied "oh nothng in this world is free, the inital check is free but IF we find a problem it would cost you money to take out a warrenty for 1, 2 or 5 years"

That's when I asked for the website of his company, he said www.PCOptimisers and then hung up.  I'm hoping this is the last call from them we have, thankfully my pensioner parents are very scam savvy so they won't be getting anything from here, but I'm sure someone would fall for this.

BEST FUN I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME WITH THESE SCAMMERS!!!!
I got a call from same people, and asked for their contact number and email so i can research then see if they are legit. Thanks to you lot I realized they are scammers so I didn't call them back. They however did not want to give up and rang me back, and I thought that's a brilliant opportunity to have fun because i was very bored. He started the price at 69 pounds....then with me nagging and saying i can't afford...he brought it down to 29 haha, then the real fun began. I told him I only have 2.99 in my bank and explained that i need to work hours and hours to save up for this. By the end of it i kept asking him how much is the final price and this is pretty much how the conversation went:
    ME: 29.99???
HIM: no sir 29 pounds only.
ME: let me speak to my colleagues in my company...(after 2 mins of laughing around with my brothers) hello my colleagues said that's too much....299 pounds is too much...
HIM: No sir, 29 pounds only... for three months...
ME: YESS  we don't have 300 pounds...whats your best price???
HIM: 29 pounds sir not 299 not 300....
ME: if you give me for.... let me talk to my collegues again...(after few mins of pissing about) ...okay my colleagues said if you give me for a price between 1.5 to 3.49....
    HIM: er...sir...
ME: OK OK 2.50...ok? I DONT HAVE 300!!!!
    HIM: okay...*shuts phone*

best time of my life haha

Always PC Optimisers but never the same name twice. Today he was Andrew Parker, thick Indian accent. The reason we know it's him is because no-one pronounces my last name in quite such a strange way. He has been calling us between 3-5 times a day for the last 6 years and I would like to know how to track him down as he is always rude, aggressive and often threatening. How dare he when he routinely invades my home life.

Unfortunately informing them that we have no Microsoft computers in the house does not deter them (it is the truth, and they ain't MACs either) neither does the fact that the surname he is looking for no longer lives here. I am always polite and friendly on the phone, with the exception of this mornings phonecall, so there is no need for the threats that this guy makes before hanging up. When asked politely he never gives a phonenumber or website, obviously a scam but we must have offended him personally for this harrasement.

Got a highly suspicious call from some Indian guy claiming to be from "PC Research" or, perhaps, "PC Wizard" (hard to tell with his accent).  Phone number was 949-210-9072 (orange county area).  He claimed there was some malwear or spywear on my windows PC.  He wanted me to log into my computer which I refused (also, I don't even have a windows machine).  Totally weird.  Someone needs to do something about this guy.

I have had the PC optimser version on the phone regularly. I operate both Mac and Windows OS and they had the nerve to tell me I was lying when I told them I only had my mac on at the time.

As others have commented, they claim they are working on behalf of Windows and Microsoft.

As you say they must have a powerful consultant company if they believe that using an English sounding name will stop anyone thinking it is a scam.

I have had numerous calls off various people claiming I have a p c virus, the last one, today, said his name was Alexander and asked what my name was, I replied, Akbar. He said " your name cannot be Akbar, that is an asian name", I replied " and your name is not Alexander, that is a european name". He then asked me if I was a moron, I replied, " no, I am not, but it is a pleasure to talk to one". I just string them along and waste their time. I do not even attempt to be polite to these people anymore, I just give them an expletive loaded farewell.

Got a call today (9-29-2012) from purportedly PC Wizard. I'm in the U.S. A woman with an Indian accent, calling from a call center. In an alarming tone she said she was calling windows users to warn us of a virus. She asked me to press the "windows" key on my keyboard (near the control key) and the "r" key at the same time and tell her what appeared on the screen. That would tell her whether our computer had been infected by the virus.  I told her I wouldn't do it without some reason to think this was a legitimate phone call.  She gave me a web page URL (askpcwizard.com) which I'm afraid of visiting and haven't, and she also gave me a toll free number (1-888-463-7406).  It was clear to me that this was fraud because nobody would be calling individually billions of windows users worldwide to warn them of a virus. I googled "askpcwizard.com" and found this page - thank you all for your earlier posts!

got a call from an indian sounding man who told me that pc wizard was going into liquidation and that i was entitled to a refund but the best part was that he wanted me to transfer money to india        im afraid i told him rather impolitely what i thought of him and his scam and that i was having all incoming calls monitored because of all the rubbish that people were ringing about .he soon hung up but i am getting really annoyed with all of these bogus callers. i just hope that everyone tells them to do one and not get taken in by these people

Similar call to that reported by Leonor on 29Sept12 this time in UK. Asked to use Windows Key + R to find worrying looking list of (yellow) warning and (red) alert events. Then taken to a page to Run a program, but then I wanted some reason why I should trust her

Asked her to repeat who she represented, and taken to onlinepcwizards website, which seems to be a legitimate business. However, it mentions customers, so I asked who was paying for here call, who the customer is, how she got my number etc... No sensible answers, so told her I didn't trust her and put the phone down

1471 tells me the number was 0044 2082046527

The scum are still at it, I had same call. I think a website needs to be set up and widely publicised to expose all these scammers that prey on vulnerable people. ( is there one?) anyone know?

I'm in the U.S. This guy just called me today spouting off about how he needed me to "help him help me" fix my computer because it was slow blah, blah, blah. I told him that my computer was currently in the shop. He said I could call him back when it came out of the shop and we could fix it then. I said okay, what's your name? In a very thick indian accent he replied "Shane Miller". It was all I could do to not laugh since I knew all along that this was a scam and that he was probably trying to remotely access my computer or put spyware on it. He also said he was with PC Wizard. I said "so, you're calling ALL of the windows and mac owners?" And he said "oh yes, we are global." LOL He gave me this number 1-800-878-2302 and told me that his supervisor would answer and I was to ask for him.

I had a call last night from the same number. I was really facing problem for few days with my computer. I was suspicious how they got my number! But any how they make me understand why they have called me up. They are the authorize technician of PC Wizard who help me out to overcome the problem which I had with very minimum cost. It is more cheaper that to higher a local technician.

I was scammed by PC wizards in March 2013, same process as above paying£59 for this. They began daily calling again 2 weeks ago, my partner answered and told me there license had expired and they needed to refund payment. When they called again I thought stupidly this would be to confirm refund however, again they told me to turn on PC.
The man 'chrish brown'keeps talking over you and gets you to key in team view and before you know it they have remote access and take you to western union. He was continually telling me to open account for refund and as I questioned and questioned he became agitated and made me feel stupid, adding pressure. I gave my credit card details and watched  in horror as they completed transaction for £200, receiver Sanjay kumar. Thankfully, this didn't go through but they demanded details for my online banking in my panic I told him my bank but refused to give account, passwords etc. He swore at me and told me I was being a problem, I told him to keep the money and then call back tomorrow (so I could check this out, report) with that I he told me he was going to delete my files on desktop and they disappeared then said he would freeze my computer until I gave him access tomorrow. I tried to disconnect Internet but he was too quick and has installed a password so I'm unable to use my pc-he then hung up. I'm stunned but have reported, I learnt they tried to process transaction twice now have fraud on case.
It is extremely distressing and a little sinister, I feel really stupid. please all be aware
