Same indian called me very persistent, kept telling me I'd got problems adware, spyware etc.. with my home computer - phoned on work number told him my computer was 40 miles away - he obviously wasn't listening as kept talking for 10 minutes everyone now and then asked if I was still there !  This is at least the 3rd call from the same company - onlinepcwizards with the same 0808 number.  No way would I give him access or tell him anything about my home computer !

Received call yesterday from PCwizards, and wanted my wife to install a software, so that he can remotely access our laptop and clean up any viruses. She asked him call today. Neil did call today and I took his number and said that I would call back. Checking the number 08082801527, I came know this big time scam. Best is to politely say these guys that you are not interested and put the phone down.

wife got call Monday from Indian guy .  Uses American names.  Like Shawn Wilson.  Ha!  spent hours manipulating wife's computer.  Charged $99 for alleged service.  Got credit card info.including code on back.  Claims to use Microsoft-trained technicians and says so in such a way as to strongly suggest Microsoft ownership, affliation and sponsorship.  A complete scam.

Same deal as everyone else.  'John' with an unintelligible Indian accent.  The number 01234765093 has been phoning my home daily for over a week - first time I've answered it.
Claimed that he knew, from Store records, that we had purchased a WindowsPC (implied they have some official connection with Microsoft) - and that they know we are infected with a virus, which regular AV software wont detect. I let him ramlbe on a bit, then asked directly if he was selling something.  He said that he was offering a free check, and that it was only if they found something that there might be a clean-up charge.  He also said that the call was being recorded for quality purposes.

All absolute B0LL0CKS. I work in computer security, and you should never allow a cold-caller to have control of your machine on an unsolicited call.  I am also subscribed to TPS, so they are breaking the law here too.  This is a SCAM - don't be caught out.  I informed him that I knew his game and I ended the call. I have notified the appropriate regulators - not that it will have any effect, they appear to lack teeth to stop these scams.

Today 26th April I answered the phone, a guy with an Indian accent asked, am I speaking to Mrs M-----
I said no this is Mr. ------ and he then proceeded to give me the same spiel as I have just been reading about above. I said to him that I had heard about this sort of thing and I had been told it was a scam.
I asked where he was calling from, he said California and he was working for Microsoft.
I asked how he had got my phone number (and I may also have said that I believed that cold calling was against the law.) I also asked him for his number and he told me the number and said to omit the 0 and just use 8082801527 its freephone. He also told me the website :-www.onlinepcwizards.com
He asked if I was at my computer and when I told him no he asked me to switch it on I told him that was not convenient, he then asked if he could call back tomorrow, I said no thanks, I will call you on the freephone number you have given me and that was that. After hanging up I dialled 1471 to see there was a number but no. If the call was from outside the UK there would not be a number.

Just had the same Indian guy on the phone, he was so hard to understand telling me exactly the same thing, wanted me to open up my computer so he could tell me if my computer has a virus.
It all seems very dodgy to me and I asked for a number to call him back he gave me 08082801527. The number he called me on was 01234765093.
Please be careful don't give your information away.

One thing that bothers me how did he know my name and phone number when I'm in directory?

According to the news this week there are companies out there who sell personal information to scammers.  Yhe news item mentioned credit card details, passwords, etc, so I imagine that names and addresses are a piece of cake.  Don't forget also, that there were admissions a while ago that workers at Indian call centres, for UK companies,  were selling peoples'information.  No-one who 'phones about your computer knows anything about it.  They rely on scare tactics and lack of computer knowledge.  If they get remote access they will install spyware/malware to steal personal information.

I have had a call from these guys twice in the last couple of days.  First time they claimed to be from Windows Technical Services department, said I had 'downloads' on my computer which would stop my computer working in the next couple of days.  When I asked him which OS it was infecting, he hung up.  I got a call today from an Indian sounding gentleman from PC Wizard, said they'd been checking 'my area' and that my computer was affected by these downloads, so I asked for his name - David Hart' and his number 448082801527, freely given, so while he was on the phone, before I let him do anything, I 'Googled' the number and came up with the fact it was a scam. Once I told him I was checking his number, surprise, surprise, he hung up......just waiting for another chance to have a go at them!!!!!!!

Got a call today at about 2.30pm from guy with strong Indian accent calling himself Sean from PCWizard Service.   Having experienced a similar call a few weeks ago I was cautious and asked him repeatedly what he was phoning about.   The gist of it was that they had done a survey and found that my computer was at risk from incoming junk.  They could connect me to their system and an engineer would fix the problem.   Asked him what they charged - got a garbled and confused response - think he was trying to say they wouldn't charge for the cleanup operation but would try and sell other security products.   He was clearly quite agitated whenever I probed for further information.   Gave me a phone number 44 80 8280 1527.     NB during the call he asked me to make sure my computer was on so I could find his company online - I had switched it off as soon as I realised what the call was about as I understand that, if rogue companies are linked to your computer, the link is broken when you switch off.

08082801527 he said..his web side name is www.onlinepcwizards.com. These prats just got my wife while I was off shore working. She has been ill with cancer and when realising she had just lost £119.00 was so upset. I am not mad at her for making a mistake but am out for revenge on these people. If I ever come face to face with them they will find it hard to dial there next number with broken fingers. Any way if it happens to any one and they paid with a credit card contact there card company.  Or join my posse and we can go exterminate these rodents.

I just got a call from a woman with an Indian accent claiming to be from "PC Optimisers". She said she "believed I was the owner of a windows computer?". So I smugly replied..
    Me: No, actually it's mac.
Her: You don't have a windows computer?
    Me: No

    *Hung up*.

The absolute cheek! I googled PC Optimisers with the intent of sending a quick email/call to complain and found this page haha!

TIP: If you're repeatedly being called say you have a mac. If they know you use windows they'll keep ringing and ringing in the hope that someone new will answer and give them what they want.

On a heavier note: What has the world come to? An office of people somewhere knowingly and willingly trying to rip people off as their ACTUAL source of income...

Had a call from these people yesterday telling me that I had a number of corruptions.  Went along with it for a bit because they sounded pretty genuine, but after a while started talking about charging for a "clean up".  Told them I didn't want to proceed and put the phone down;  they rang again, but this time I was quite abrupt and told them I wasn't interested.
