Report a phone call from 08453512288 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- zbi think it is geniune, i called it looked safe, later i alled the barclays 'offiial' fraud prevention, and they couldn't confirm if it is an actual barclays number, but then she said that she can see me calling them earlier on the day.
- JOolsjust got this after buying some flights to south america. its geniune. you dont have to add any personal details
- BrianO replies to LiI just had a call from this number also. I missed the call but it left a voicemail and text message saying to call Barclays urgently on 08453512288. I went to the Barclays website and called them and there were no problems with my account. It appears this could be a phishing scam.
- SpenderIt is definitely from Barclays. Ring a number from their website instead, like I did and they confirmed it. They said my card would have been refused had I used it before speaking to them.
Cheers all- Caller: Barclays
- Ian CarrTHIS IS A GENUINE CALL.
It is Barclays Fraud Prevention and it is for your own good.- Caller: Barclays Fraud Prevention
- helen almondgot test message from this no saying to call barclays fraud
- Rob HThis is geniune - i made 2 transactions without the pin and this triggered the fraud. Called the number and no problems. No details are given over just DOB. Thsi is a real number and not a fraud.
- Caller: Barclays
- Call type: Text message
- JenI had a text on my mobile and a call on the house phone this morning. I figured if they new my mobile number it should be ok as I never use my mobile.
When I phoned them it recognised my number and linked it to my name on the automated system, it asked me to confirm my date of birth from a list, which i did, then it asked me to listen to the following transactions and select any that didn't sound right, which I did, one was deffinately not me. It then put me through to an actual person who didn't ask any personal details, he ask if i recognised a few transactions which i didn't so he said he'd cancelled my card, and ordered a new one which would be with me in the next few days. All he wanted was for me to confirm my address to send out the card.
I'd say it's totally ok, and if you get a text or call answer it, they don't ask for any thing to do with personal details or card information.- Caller: Barclays Fraud Prevention
- Dubious| 1 replyGot the same text as other people -- "this is Barclays fraud protection, call urgently", etc. Except (a) I have never banked with Barclays, and (b) the "phone" they sent the text to is my wireless broadband dongle, certainly not a number I would have given as a personal contact number!
I don't think I shall be calling them back for some reason ...- Caller: Allegedly Barclays
- Call type: Text message
- Carrie replies to DubiousI have also got the same message at very late this evening, just after I made a payment online. That made me really worried, because I'm not sure whether it is genuine or not. I didn't call back, because I suspect that who will still in work at Saturday night in UK. However, several hours later I found a call from 0845 351 2291, unfortunately, I failed to catch it. Now I am quite afraid that will it cause some ill impacts for using the account later?
- kukuBarclays Fraud department call??
- Caller: 00441452378400
- MrKThis is a geniune call. I had 4 voicemails and finally a text. I suspected the call was fake so I text the number to my brother who holds a senior position in Barclays. He confirmed that it was the fraud team at Barclays. i called them and they mentioned a transaction which failed to go through the night before.
If you are ever suspicious about these calls just go through to Barclays official website and use the number listed under Fraud but do not ignore it otherwise your debit card may be blocked- Caller: Barclays Fraud Line
- Ali DGENUINE - I received a call on my mobile from 0845 351 2291 which I rejected and this was then closely followed by a text message asking me to call Barclays Fraud Prevention on 0845 351 2288. I didnt trust either number so rang the number listed on the Barclays website 0845 755 5555. They then transferred me through to the Fraud Department who identified me (as I would expect them to do) and gave me details of 'suspicious' transactions that were due to be applied to my account. None of the transactions were mine so they have cancelled my debit card, ordered a replacement and stopped the transactions being applied to my account. I will receive paperwork in the post to complete in due course.
Please ALWAYS be wary of this type of call/message and look-up an independent number to call if unsure, but on this occasion, all I can say is "Thank you, Barclays".- Caller: Barclays
- marki had that txt 2 and it's definitely fraud and it seems fraudsters are even coming on this site saying it's genuine. if in doubt then go on to barclays website at barclays.co.uk and get their number from there. sorted
- Caller: 08453512288
- IJDIt is barclays fraud dept
My card didnt work in a shop. Received a text to sall " ...calll this number". I provided some basic level information and confirmed some transactions and my card was working again in five minutes. - MikeyH replies to JazThis number is REAL! I have confirmation from Barclays. It does not ask you for any personal information at all. Please dont make these statements when you dont know
- bryan replies to GENTLEThat post gave me cancer - more likely someone set up their account with the wrong phone number, aka yours.
The text is genuine, but never ring a number that has been sent to you from an unknown source, just ring your number for barclays and ask to be put forward to the fraud department and voila, trust issues resolved. - Elizabeth replies to SunGot a call like this this morning. I called my own bank and they confirmed it was a random check as I had been using my card to pay something online, they transferred me to the fraud dept who just asked me to confirm that it was me who was paying it and that was it sorted. I would call your own bank first if your in doubt, and never give account details to anyone on the phone unless you have called your own bank. You never know who's on the other end. hope this helps. :)

DO NOT CALL OR GIVE THEM YOUR INFO.
All the posters claiming it is the real Barclays fraud number are lying - most likely the scammers trying to make their scam seem more believable.
Check with your bank if you like. The number is fake and has been used for several other bank type scams.
Still unsure?
Why would I lie and tell you it's not real? - No idea
Why would everyone else lie and tell you it is? - To fall for their scam.- Caller: FAKE barclays
- MoodbeamThis IS genuine. I kept ignoring the call thinking it was scammers (I seem to be getting a lot of cold calls) then I received a text message stating it was Barclays Fraud Prevention asking me to call another number. I went on the Barclays website and got the number they have on there for fraud prevention. Gave out some details to confirm I was the account holder and the phone number that had tried to contact me. They confirmed it was a genuine number and that a transaction I had made the previous night had been flagged up as suspicious. I confirmed I made the transaction myself and he removed the flag. All sorted.
So if this number does call and you're unsure of whether or not to answer just contact Barclays directly. It really is Barclays phoning you so unless you want to be locked out of your account it's best to call up and sort everything out.
