For all the people on here saying it's a scam; it's not. And if you're that unsure then don't answer it; I didn't. I got in touch with Barclays myself using a number from their own website. They confirmed the number really was theirs. So even if you don't want to answer this number (as I say I didn't) just phone the bank yourself. You'll soon see that it is real and that your account has been flagged up for whatever reason.

And I don't see how anyone can say that the people on here telling people to call their banks are in on a scam. If we were scammers we wouldn't tell you to phone your bank would we? We'd just tell you to answer the call.

I received a SMS msg from Barclays Fraud department about a dodgy £600 transaction.
Barclays do not know this phone number is mine.

A man who said he was from Barclays Fraud dept then called the number and asked if I was somebody I have never heard of. I have received this type of call from NatWest before as well, but this was genuine.

Got a text from this number stating they were Barclays Bank Fraud Department and that there was fraudulent activity on my account in the USA and to contact this number I called it and an Asian female answered asking for my full card number I declined and asked if she was based in the UK she said no, so I hung up. I contacted Barclays on their freephone number   0800222800 (this has replaced the old 08457555555 number). My Debit Card details had been used in the USA and had been spotted by the fraud department. But they denied that the text number I originally called was on their list. So I surmise that my mobile number was obtained by the fraudsters they then text me hoping I would reply and give them all my card details so they could make a load of online debits with all other details they could have got from me on the phone. I also had a fraudulent debit made in the UK that was not spotted, but now my card has been stopped. So beware of this scam it nearly got me.  

Apparently this is a genuine Barclays Fraud line number but it goes to a call centre in Mumbai. So if you get a text from it and reply it costs more, well it did on my provider.
