Got a call today from a Steve a "police officer", nearly fell for it as well, why would a police officer be selling advertising space.

There are 'scammers' involved within all this mess, in the form of these business owners agreeing to advertise and/or support this that or the other then seeing the bill, regretting it, and shouting scam!

Why don't we all Google some 'Yellow Pages' scams, or I don't know.... 'BT Scams'. Probably dig out just as much crap on these WELL KNOWN businesses.

All you small/medium businesses are crying this that and the other playing the sympathy vote when in actual fact your just doing the exact same thing to these sometimes SMALLER businesses who are just trying to make a name for themselves! Your crying victim and at the same time doing it to them its out of order.

A business owners word is his/hers oath - a true businessman knows this and would not go back on it. Unfortunately we live in a country of complaints and now it's showing with all of you.



I have my own business, and I've used many of the services - or 'scams' as you would all say - to advertise throughout the UK. So far it's not a brilliant response, but that doesn't make it a scam now does it. I didn't look at the bill and s**t myself just to start crying scam and follow the crowd.

And people like this Kcb making things personal? That to me just sounds like he knows the woman in question, and is having his own little discreet words - it's pathetic. That to me, in all honesty, renders the rest of this thread useless. It's obviously just someone who knows the woman in question trying to strike a nerve. It's childish and I think - taking that into account - the moderators should get shut of this thread. Its just plain slander at the end of the day.

Recceived a call claiming to sell advertising space in a "Community Safety Journal" was suspicious when viewing their website www.crimeaware.org

You sound like an absolute idiot, read your post again and may realise you are a prat.

They have now changed there name to Windows Media Ltd, www.crimeaware.co.uk.

Making out your  from the police is a little low, it was the same rude man as before, same script, same rudeness when I told him I was not interested.

I have reported you to trading standards, so hopefully your days are numbered now.

Got a phone call back in November about puting a advert in Community Safety Journal said I was the only florist going in so said yes because i just opened. When I looked at the email when I got home rang them the next day to tell them to cancel it. Never heard anything off them till few weeks later with an invoice saying I need to pay 150 my cheque or they have given bank details on invoice. Had to pay within 14 days. I rang them up spoke to a lad called Jon Paul very rude on phone saying he was sending the beliefs. Then me mam said phone the police and ask if the police phone ppl up to advertise etc said if they did it would be a donation for ppl to pay. Told me not to pay any money as its a scam. Got another invoice last week and a phone call today at 12.36 off a lady she was calm for once told her police told me not to pay out and she said police shouldn't say that and she was going to ring them up. So just waiting on a phone call back now.

Do not feel intimidated by these people..

In the first instance you should immediately report this company to your local trading standards as well as the one based in Wirral. Also report it to action fraud.

You will also need to send the company a recorded delivery letter to state you are disputing any claim they may have and that if they persiti you will instruct your solicitor to issue proceedings against them.

The Unsolicited Goods and Services ACT 1971 (as amended) is very clear on what is legitimate or not .  

These buggers may resort to having a debt collection agency send you threatening letters, but please note that only a court can decide the validity of a contract and whether or not you are liable to pay a debt. Similarly only a court can enforce an award and only a court can instruct bailiffs. They may employ debt collectors to pursue the alleged debt but debt collectors are not bailiffs and cannot attempt to collect payment by taking direct action, such as seizing goods.

I'll say the same to you as I said on scam.com because you seem to be too eager to support this company.

You sound a bit desparate in your pathetic attempt to justify the actions of this fraudulent organisation. Perhaps you are part of the scam itself.

I wouldn't worry too much about the inevitable, unless you are of course associated with this company, which means that you will be implicated and then will have to face the consequences, which I guarantee is what is going to happen.

You need not also concern yourself about who is saying what, where and when in order to discredit this organisation, which is not a genuine or professional company anyway, and needs no discrediting by others because it is doing a very good job at discrediting itself.

This time the wrong people have been crossed and the individuals behind this scam will be hunted down and dealt with in the appropriate manner. This I guarantee.

Yes - Windows media are still active unfortunately. It is comforting to hear that others are also not paying these scummy individuals. Their letters and phone calls are initially scary but really, are nonsense as everyone says. If they were real, they would be taking us all to Court but of course they can't because they aren't. Its all bullying. Hang on in there everybody and ignore, ignore, ignore their silly threats.

He is a crook and even on here he gets his mis-selling workforce to come on and past comments saying how good his company is. Reported 40k advertisements in a publication for the police and a crime awareness publication

Have been caught out with the emergency services scam today-police involvement.

I have been caught out by this scam, costing me £372.60. The invoice says Community Publishing, the vat reg is for a company called Municipal Press office ltd, now Windows Media Ltd. I will be reporting them to trading standards, action fraud and HMRC. The invoice shows they are VAT registered but does not show the VAT for a start. Plus, does not show that Community publishing is a trading name for 'windows media Ltd'. Absolutely gutted that I fell for this, I am a new business and cannot afford it. Anyone get their money back?? They have told me that the journal has been delivered to certain parts of my area already. I am waiting for them to tell me exactly which parts, as I have family and friends in my area. When/If they tell me, I will explain that I have family living their and they have not received it and demand my money back. I know it wont get me anywhere but at least i can catch them out.
