Brilliant info Sam.  I've dialled as above and stopped them before I rip the phone out!  Halleluiah for your advice!

Just had a call from this number, just a message to say press 1 to hear the message etc etc. Not going to risk doing that & end up paying a huge fee.

08456021111 called me twice today and hung up when my answer phone cut in.  It displayed on my phone list of past calls without the first 0. But when I pressed details on phone it  showed  up as 00880087934629.  Very strange.  Anyway it a nuisance call or would have left a message.

Was phoned by this number but didn't answer as number not recognised . It went through to answer phone but was cut off before message finished. So I've barred it after reading above complaints.

I got a call from this number which was a text on my home phone saying 'I haven't heard from you, did you not get my text, now I'm very worried.  I did a 1471 and realised it was an 0845 number, It's a scam, if you try calling it back it will be a very expensive phone call, please just ignore

I've had several calls  luckily i have only done 1471 and not called it back. If it is anything important . A company would get in touch old school pigeon post, like reputable companies do. I couldn't believe my eyes when i seen this goes way back to 2007 , surely the regulatory body is aware of calls from this number, for this long amount of time ?.

It's almost incomprehensible isn't it Malc that there are posts relating to this telephone number that span all the way back to 2007, yet you have seemingly managed to not even read a handful of the comments that would enlighten you to why this number might call you. Like the countless other keyboard warriors who prefer to just come onto this site, ignore the useful information at hand and spout their uninformed opinions and start pointing the finger of blame to regulatory bodies, your contribution has been ill-informed, useless and ultimately futile. Still, thanks for posting!

I for one am sick of companies ringing me and not even spending the time to say who and why they are calling!  The Government should make unsolicited calls illegal.  Most of these calls are from money grabbing scam companies.  If I want to find out about PPI or an accident I had many years ago, I will do it on my own.  It's about time it was made illegal to pester individuals to try and disclose these details to them only to profit.  I'm so angry!

Received a high number of calls from this number today.  Its helpful to know its a scam, so best ignored.  If it is anything important or from someone I know,  they will call my mobile.  Will try to report the number, hope BT are interested.

Have you actually bothered to read any of the comments on previous 243 pages? If so you would have concluded that number this might not be a scam. I'm sure BT will have no interest in what you have to say.

at risk of repeating myself and earning wrath of Moderator, the simple & only way of verifying "who is correct", ie It's a scam. No it's not. Yes it is etc - and wading thru 243 pages leaves none of us the wiser!
    1. take your mobile out of your pocket/handbag/sink and open "Messages"
    2. enter your own landline number as the recipient and type a short message like:
"Hello, my name is ...... and this is a test message on 12th April"
    3. press "Send"
    4. in a short time, your landline will ring; if you have caller display, 0845 602 1111 will be on it; if you don't, take a chance, that's life on the edge
    5. either way, pick up home handset and listen to the guidance instructions to retrieve the message you personally typed - it costs diddly-squat to ANSWER calls from 0845 numbers, but don't redial them or you may well incur a charge (depends on your provider's bundle)
    6. for those who persist in believing it's all "an evil conspiracy" or it's "a scam", so "I never answer etc", well you can continue to live on in blissful ignorance
7 for those for whom it might - just might - be more important or even useful, you have nothing to lose; usually it's a family member of friend who has just muddled up their address book trying to contact you
(I once parked up near Luton Airport for 50 minutes while my returning friends stood at the pick up point having texted my home phone .... and guess what I listened to when I eventually made it home?)
Oh, for those who say it must be a scammer, fraudsters don't send texts via this number, they need "live bait" to get their hook into you and reel you in. (imo)

The number of pages is clearly visible for everyone to see. Is there a point you are failing to make here?
