You think Eddie was being helpful? He was not. He obviously didn’t know the real problems with this number. I have many previous posts myself as you know, and I have read many of your abusive ones, of people who have genuinely had a nuisance call from this number.

08456021111 is a nuisance caller set up by BT. If someone sends a text message from a mobile phone to a fixed telephone (or “landline”) BT calls you from this number to read out the text message. If you do not answer, it calls you again and again. BT has no way of knowing whether the original message was a mistake, a scam or a genuine intention to send a message to the landline. That is why it sends so many nuisance calls to uninformed recipients.
It is possible to opt not to receive the calls, even before you receive any, but if you are leaving a report here, you will have already had a nuisance call.
BT has chosen not to inform users of this “service”, thereby not giving them chance to refuse it. BT does not check whether you are registered with the “telephone preference service” (TPS) before it calls you from this number, and it does not check with the originator of the message whether they really intended to send a text message to a landline.
You can judge for yourself whether you think this is a valuable service or just one that generates a lot of nuisance calls.  How many useful calls does this number make? NOBODY KNOWS!
You can disable this nuisance caller by dialling 0800 587 5252.  If you know someone who has been troubled by this caller and who can't understand how to disable it, do help them.

it's text messages sent to your landline - not a scam

I don't know why was removed your previous post (it is not removed, because is pending approval), but obviously was against Terms of Service.

Called me on New Year's Eve saying I had a bt message, I'm sure it's scam, I called them back as our b band  had just failed and just repeated message, very odd

This number has called me four times before 0800 today.

Our number is unlisted and has been for over ten years yet we were called at 01.29 on 01/01/2018 by the same number. Obviously fraudulent so I have now cancelled all text messages to my landline number at any time.

New years eve 5 calls and New years day 3 so far and its only 9.30. No messages left !!

15 calls I had from this number in the 24 hours!!!

I have had enough of this!!!!!!!!!! Calling every half an hour with a text message from Legacy Wills!  On the TPS, so are they flouting the rules by sending a text?  I hope not.  I want to get rid of them to put it nicely.   I guess it is just because I answered my landline by chance (mobile only as a rule) that they continue to harass me.  I am not in need of them and I guess that many others agree.  Let us get rid of this company now

sympathy ... you can disable this SMS text to Voice by calling 0800 587 5252 from your landline (0800 is free of charge) - but NOT your mobile, and follow the instructions. Or you can choose a "curfew" eg allow texts between certain hours - altho I'd suggest not, just block it.
To answer the other question - "flouting the rules"? Yes, unless you may have signed up (even inadvertently) to a website by clicking thru its T&Cs without reading in full what "may" result from your implied acceptance.
TPS is a UK only industry funded body that represents bona fide sales- and telemarketing bodies.
For most overseas based call centres, UK "legislation" does not prevent this sort of call - sadly - that raises further questions over our spineless and ineffectual politicians and their civil "servants" that you might want to raise with your MP, to find out what vested interests they are protecting, to the detriment of the rest of society, mainly the vulnerable, naive and / or careless.

Another parasite who cant or wont work..Jail them so they can be treated as they deserve by the big lads in jail who do not appreciate there wife's partners children subjected LOW LIFE..

This person called me 4 times in 90 mins  didn't leave a message I dont answer my phone at night due to unwanted cold callers

Call received early today and foreigner said this is BT and referred to me a Mrs. !!!   I said I am not a Mrs. so slammed the phone down.   2.l9 p.m. call again this time weird message left - it said on answerphone to hear message press 1 which i did and all i heard was 4 numbers, nothing to do with the above number.  When I did l471 lo and behold the same person 0845 etc.

Called at 12.45am to ask me if I am happy with my broadband

ive had this number call me about 6 or 7 times today and becoming very annoying

Was called by this number in November 2017 eleven times in one day!
